Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: The Man Reduced to Ashes

"No way?" Iron Man's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at everyone. "You guys can't be thinking the same thing as me, right?"

"What are you all thinking? What's the connection between 'motherfucker' and 'mother'? What are you talking about?" Only Thor looked at everyone with a bewildered expression.

"Thor, if you take 'fucker' out of 'motherfucker,' isn't it just 'mother'?" Coulson reminded Thor.

Thor's eyes also widened instantly. This, this was too messed up, wasn't it?

"I choose D, Nick Fury!"

Captain America then spoke his answer to the big screen.

"[Answer Correct!]"

What was even more messed up was that Captain America actually answered correctly.

For a moment, the atmosphere in the room became a little strange. Everyone couldn't help but look at Nick Fury.

Could it be that the truth was really as everyone imagined?

No way?

No way?

"[Congratulations to contestant Steve Rogers for winning the prize: a lightweight bulletproof Batman cape.]"

Immediately after, a black, seemingly high-quality cape appeared in Captain America's hand.

"Captain, how's this cape?"

Captain America's little fanboy, Coulson, immediately leaned over and asked enthusiastically.

"It's very interesting. This cape is not only bulletproof, but it can even withstand bomb explosions. It also hardens when electrified and can be used as a glider. Very good!"

Captain America sorted through the relevant information in his mind and nodded with great satisfaction.

"Very good, Captain, it suits you well. You'd look very handsome if you wore it." Coulson also nodded.

"Originally, the Captain and Thor were only missing a cape, but now, the Captain has a cape too!"

Iron Man shrugged on the side, completely oblivious to Thor's already darkening face. "The Captain is becoming more and more like Thor."

Thor: "..."

"[Question completed. Now playing answer analysis.]"

Following the system's prompt, a corresponding image appeared before everyone.

"No news from Stark yet?"

"Not yet! We're monitoring every satellite in both hemispheres, but we've found nothing."

First, the voices of a man and a woman came out.

Not everyone recognized the woman's voice, but everyone present immediately recognized the man's voice.

It was none other than Nick Fury's voice.

"That's another one of our S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Agent Hill." Before anyone could ask, Nick Fury proactively introduced her.

And following those two sentences, the screen began to clear, showing a man and a woman discussing something while driving.

It was Nick Fury and Agent Hill.

"What's wrong?" Nick Fury asked Agent Hill, who was sitting beside him, in a deep voice.

"Multiple unidentified objects have appeared over Wakanda," Agent Hill said to Nick Fury while checking relevant data.

"Is the energy signature the same as in New York?" Nick Fury asked after a brief moment of thought.

At the mention of New York, everyone present felt a slight tightening in their hearts.

They all simultaneously thought of a crucial event: the Battle of New York.

Agent Hill had also mentioned earlier that multiple "unidentified objects" had appeared over Wakanda.

Even S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't recognize those objects, using the vague term "unidentified objects" to describe them, which strongly suggested they might not be from Earth at all.

Coupled with Nick Fury's mention of New York, those who knew about the Battle of New York had a bad feeling.

"It's ten times what it was then!" Agent Hill replied in a deep voice.

"Tell Bryan, we're going to..." Nick Fury immediately gave Agent Hill an order.

But halfway through his sentence, a black minivan suddenly lost control and crashed into Nick Fury's car.

"Nick! Nick!" Agent Hill urgently called out several times.

Nick Fury frantically slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. The car in front crashed hard into Nick Fury's car.

Immediately after, Nick Fury and Agent Hill didn't waste any words. Both got out of the car, looking wary.

Agent Hill even cautiously walked to the side of the minivan in front to inspect it.

"Are they okay?" Nick Fury asked from behind.

However, what Nick Fury didn't know was that there was no one in that minivan!

Both the driver's seat and the passenger seat were empty!

"There's no one in here!" Agent Hill said, utterly perplexed.

"What's going on? No one in the car?"

Captain America's brow furrowed slightly, his face also filled with questions.

It wasn't just Captain America; everyone present was completely bewildered, finding the matter a bit strange.

"Is this car a self-driving vehicle? That's not particularly cutting-edge technology," Iron Man mused, making a guess. "It seems someone is remotely controlling this car, intentionally causing this accident."

The others didn't say much, but so far, they still agreed with Iron Man's guess.

After all, with no one in the car but it still driving, self-driving was indeed the most direct guess.

However, everyone immediately felt that something was wrong.

Because at that moment, a whistling sound came from the sky, and a smoking helicopter was spinning erratically like a headless fly, then crashed violently into a building.

It exploded with a boom.

A commotion immediately broke out on the street, with many people screaming and scattering.

"First a runaway car, then a runaway plane, almost at the same time. Is this a coincidence?"

Coulson stared intently at the big screen, his expression grave, saying that he had vaguely smelled something unusual.

If it was a coincidence, it was too much of a coincidence.

But if it wasn't a coincidence, then it meant there was a connection between the two, and the runaway car and runaway plane might have the same mastermind behind them.

Could it be that someone was planning a large-scale terrorist attack?

"Quick, call command center, Red Alert!"

Nick Fury looked at the exploding plane in the sky, his expression also becoming extremely grave. He instructed Agent Hill.

"Nick!"

Then he heard Agent Hill behind him call out his name in a shocked, disbelieving voice.

Nick Fury immediately turned around and saw an incredible sight: Agent Hill's body was turning into ashes and dissipating!

The atmosphere in the room became slightly frozen.

"So the runaway car and the runaway plane were all because of this!" Black Widow murmured.

At this moment, everyone understood. That car wasn't a self-driving vehicle; instead, the driver inside had vanished into thin air, just like Agent Hill!

The same must have happened to the runaway plane.

"Did someone use some evil magic for this!"

Even Thor felt his scalp tingle. This kind of magic that could turn people into ashes was too evil!
