We clinked glasses softly.
"So," I said, leaning back. "What's the occasion?"
"Our last day as freshmen," he replied smiling.
I stared at him. "You remembered."
He shrugged. "Of course I did."
"You know, it's feels strange that the year is already done. It wasn't really memorable, but... it would have been worse without you and Ella. You should have seen the way Ella's brother congratulated her with a big hug. Their sibling bond is undeniable."
"You envy that," he said.
"I don't envy," I corrected. "I just… noticed, I wish I had that, you know...sibling thing"
He watched me for a moment. "You'll have that too."
"With who?" I teased.
He didn't answer right away, just ate, then drank his wine.
Halfway through the meal, he reached across the table and wiped something from the corner of my mouth with his thumb. I froze for half a second.
"You're staring again," I said.
"At you," he replied and I blushed.
"Of course, it's at me dummy, who else?."
