The wrath of justice troop transport ship, mess hall.
But what happened next was not quite right; by the time the Military Police arrived halfway, the two groups fighting finally realized they had a common enemy.
A young woman with a broken nose, blood streaming, was about to kick another man when she was suddenly pulled away without warning. She turned to find Military Police officers holding her.
Her fierce elbow strikes had little effect on the Military Police armor, but the man who had just been brawling stepped forward to help, hitting the Military Police officer in the seam between his helmet and armor with a plate shard at a very precise angle.
Bright arterial blood spurted out, drenching the surrounding crowd, and the injured Military Police officer slowly knelt, both hands pressing his ruptured carotid artery.
At this moment, Li Feng, ignoring Kane's obstruction, climbed over a table and began pulling things from a small medical kit on his waist, rushing over to stop the Military Police officer's bleeding.
"By the Emperor's eggs!"
Kane cautiously began walking towards the door, to wait for reinforcements. If they didn't arrive in time, these bloodthirsty rioters would surely gang up on anyone with military markings.
As Kane watched, both sides had already united to turn on the Military Police among them. These poor fellows soon disappeared into a sea of people, while Li Feng dragged the Military Police officer whose neck was still gushing blood, trying to pull him out of the "combat zone."
Li Feng knelt beside the Military Police officer whose neck had been stabbed "straight through," pulling out gauze and hemostatic agents from his waist medical kit to stop the bleeding, while continuously injecting him with various colorful syringes.
These Soldiers no longer looked human. Kane had seen Tyranids / Tyranid react to immediate threats, but this situation was even worse than that.
At least the bugs had motives and intelligence in what they did, whereas the motives of these calloused individuals were nothing more than wanting to chop you into mincemeat, finely dice you into filling, and then wrap you into dumplings to eat. But here, there was clearly no rhyme or reason; they just wanted to hack people.
By the Emperor's ghost, the Khorne cultists Kane had seen were, for all intents and purposes, more disciplined than these people in the hall—more disciplined, even, than these Imperial Soldiers.
However, at least while they were busy with the Military Police, they probably wouldn't pay much attention to Kane and Li Feng, who was performing first aid on the ground. So, Kane still pulled up his coat and slowly moved towards the door. He was ready to command the reinforcements that might arrive at any moment.
Kane had almost crept over, inch by inch, and it would have been truly wonderful for Kane if the Military Police captain hadn't been beaten so badly and loudly screamed, "Political Commissar, help!!!"
"Swish swish swish ~"
Every eye in the hall suddenly turned in Kane's direction, and at this moment, Kane was holding up his coat, tiptoeing, and lifting his foot.
Kane felt he could almost see his own reflection in their eyeballs. Kane looked like a prophet squatting with his head in his hands, telling himself: "If you take one more step towards the door, he himself will be finely diced into filling."
The only strategy to survive was to scare them, so Kane calmly took a step forward, as if he had just walked into the place.
Kane randomly pointed at a Soldier: "You! Get a broom and… Why are you standing there? Go!"
Whatever they thought the Political Commissar would say, it certainly wasn't that. The hall was filled with an atmosphere of confusion, with blood gushing from the tops of people's heads. The Military Police officer Li Feng was treating had blood splattered on the wall from his neck. The Military Police, holding their heads, began to crawl away from these bloodthirsty madmen.
In this bizarre situation, someone said to come in and get a broom… They probably wondered if he wanted them to sweep the two-centimeter-thick blood on the floor? Or… was this Political Commissar going to ride this broom and run away?
Everyone stopped… gradually quieting down. This atmosphere stretched one second into an eternity.
Kane slightly raised his voice and took another step forward:
"This is not a request! The situation in this mess hall is an absolute disgrace. No one is allowed to leave until the sanitation work here is properly done."
As Kane spoke, his boot slipped in a puddle of congealing blood:
"Ouch… You, you, and you, go with him. Get more buckets and mops, get several. Comrades, get moving, everyone, today, let's clean up together!"
An atmosphere of confusion and doubt spread through the hall. The Soldiers nervously looked at each other, gradually realizing that the situation had spiraled out of control and they had to face the consequences.
"Go! Comrades, how is the sanitation work here? Is this the discipline of the regiment? Get more mops… Get moving, comrades, get moving… Clean up this… this blood… properly."
Two of the Soldiers Kane pointed out were women and began to slowly move towards the door.
"Quick march!"
Kane suddenly commanded loudly, using his most parade-ground-style voice. The assigned Soldiers hurriedly ran out, their deeply ingrained obedience to orders slowly returning to them.
That did it… The heated brawl in this hall seemed to suddenly subside. The next thing was simple. Since they all acknowledged the Political Commissar's authority, they all had to stand in a line obediently and let the Political Commissar deal with them as he saw fit.
By the time Kastin arrived with another squad of Military Police, Li Feng had already arranged for others to carry the injured to the infirmary. Li Feng was surprised to find that so many people could still walk, but the number of seriously injured still far exceeded Kane's and Li Feng's expectations.
Kastin stood next to Kane and said dryly, "Well done, I've heard."
Her face turned pale when she learned of the casualties. Kane shrugged, observing from long experience that his reputation as a "hero Political Commissar" was like a snowball, the higher it was built, the harder it would fall.
"I didn't do enough for those poor souls."
Kane now feigned an expression as if nothing had happened, while Li Feng emerged from a pile of casualties, his clothes splattered with blood. The blood on Li Feng's clothes had turned from bright red arterial blood to dark red.
Li Feng now looked like a field doctor who had just walked out of an operating room, and one who had just performed an amputation.
"I've never seen… such brave actions… from you two officers."
Li Feng heard someone behind him say. It was an injured Military Police officer, being carried away by his comrades, every word he spoke gushing blood.
"The Political Commissar… just stood in front of the rioters, facing such a large group of deadly… and this officer saved me…"
Kane immediately called out to the two stretcher bearers: "Quick, quick! Carry him away quickly! Comrade… take care!"
His voice slowly faded as he was carried away on a stretcher by his comrades. He added another small stone to the mountain-heavy heroic reputation of Li Feng and Kane.
Li Feng, however, felt very good. After all, news of this "stone" would spread throughout the ship by this time tomorrow. Li Feng, at least, felt it was quite cool to be a hero.
Colonel Kastin, meanwhile, looked bewildered, still unable to accept that such a big incident had occurred.
"We will conduct a formal investigation. We need to know who started it, how it started…"
"Who should be criticized? And who should bear responsibility?"
Major Brocklaw's voice rang out as he walked in from the door. His gaze clearly indicated who he thought should bear responsibility, and Kastin's face flushed red again.
"There is no doubt that we will find those who should bear responsibility," she said, with a slight but not difficult to detect emphasis on the pronoun.
Evidently, Brocklaw didn't take the bait. He said steadily, "Thanks to the Emperor, we have such a just arbiter, our Political Commissar is here. I believe we can rely on him to resolve this matter."
But Major Brocklaw was right, Kane's method of resolving this matter would determine his future career in this regiment, not to mention once again embarking on a life-and-death struggle, a long and unpleasant cooperation with the Emperor's pets, a group of lunatics, and meeting the most charming woman he had ever encountered in his life. (Kane's official wife)
