Eugene, who was still getting unreasonably miffed by the thought of his dad dating someone—but also never said or did anything to stop it—immediately felt soothed by that bright smile. "Yeah?"
Ian smiled, gently stroking his son's cheek. His bright gaze dimmed slightly, replaced with an empathetic one. "It must have been hard, isn't it?"
Eugene bit his lip. "Yeah..."
It was inevitable for Ian to see the similarity between the protagonist—who bore his nickname—and his son's own experience as a hybrid who couldn't sense pheromones. Even without talking about it, it wasn't hard for him to know that Eugene was struggling with gender identity since he was very young.
Eugene hoped his dad didn't find out about the shed, though. While he was still annoyed at the twins who locked him there, he didn't want his dad, who had just found happiness again, to feel sad.
If only that happiness could be fueled with just him alone...
