Just as Kote Vizsla returned to the Mandalorian Sector, he discovered a Whale-Whisker-class heavy freighter moving through the Universe. Soon, two Death Watch kuat-class transport fighters docked alongside it, preparing to board and inspect.
It was Kote Vizsla's first time witnessing such a scene, so he stopped nearby to observe what would happen.
At this moment, a small team of twenty-four boarding personnel began inspecting the cargo holds for contraband, such as items explicitly forbidden by law.
The commanding officer of the team, Spider, went to speak with the captain of the freighter. To his surprise, the captain of this heavy freighter was a praying mantis! More accurately, he was a Yamri people, a large species of mantis known for their infamous temper within the Republic and generally unfriendly demeanor towards others.
"I am from Mandalore official and conducting a spot check of your freighter. Please present your cargo manifest," Spider said to the Yamri people captain as his team entered the bridge.
The captain's mouthparts chattered for a long time, but Spider couldn't understand the Yamri people language.
"Alright, I don't understand you, and you don't have a Protocol Droid. Just give me the freighter's datapad," Spider waved his hand, disregarding whatever the captain was saying.
The Yamri people waved his arms. Spider, seeing that he was unwilling to cooperate, immediately pulled out the Vizsla-35 blaster pistol from his side holster.
"Don't move! I just want to inspect the cargo, I don't want to cause any casualties!" Spider aimed his twin blasters at the Yamri people inside.
The other squad members who had entered with him had already raised their weapons, their rangefinders lowered.
"Die!" the Yamri people shouted, and the others behind him also charged forward.
However, the Yamri people unexpectedly began to swing his scythe-like forelimbs to attack. Seeing this, Spider immediately fired, shooting the Yamri people in the eye.
Even a two-meter-tall body was like paper under blaster fire, killed in just a few shots.
As several Yamri people bodies fell, spilling green blood everywhere, Spider, disgusted, walked out.
He asked how the inspection in the cargo holds was progressing: "How are the cargo holds? Anything unusual?"
"I think you should come and see for yourself, Captain," a squad member said, looking at the hundreds of people crammed into a single cargo hold, some of whom had already died inside.
When Spider arrived and saw the scene, he understood why the Yamri people hadn't produced the datapad—they were selling slaves in the Mandalorian Sector!
"Quickly, get them out," Spider said with a frown, looking at the emaciated Kaili people.
Kote Vizsla had been watching for a long time and noticed that something had happened in the freighter's cockpit; even the windows were splattered with green blood.
To find out what had happened, Kote Vizsla directly connected his herculean-class transport to the Whale-Whisker-class heavy freighter.
"Spider, a herculean-class transport and two Valkyrie frigates are connecting to the freighter," another squad reported Kote Vizsla's situation to Spider on the ship.
"It's fine, they're all our people. We have quite a few people on board who need to be taken back to Zambar or Vadir. You all come and help too," Spider replied. Meanwhile, his people were busy rescuing the Kaili people from the cargo containers.
Kote Vizsla disembarked with his guards, first heading to the cockpit. Two Mandalorians were standing at the cockpit door and saluted Kote Vizsla directly upon seeing him.
"Governor Kote, why are you here?" one of the soldiers at the door asked.
"I happened to see you conducting a routine inspection as I passed by, so I came to see what happened," Kote Vizsla said, pointing at the seven dead Yamri people inside.
The soldier recounted what had happened, explaining that Spider had gone to the cargo hold, saying he had found something.
Kote Vizsla didn't even need to guess; The Force had already sensed the dense crowd of people in the cargo hold.
But upon actually entering the cargo hold, Kote Vizsla was truly stunned. These beasts had crammed hundreds of individuals into one cargo container, and there were at least dozens of such containers.
Their deaths were too easy; they should have been suffocated with The Force.
Spider, who was dragging people out, also saw Kote Vizsla arrive. "Governor, as you can see, this is the situation."
"I generally understand. Let's take all the living people away first. For the rest, find a place to cremate them," Kote Vizsla couldn't bear to see these people die like this. Even dying in a struggle would have been better, but alas, their fate was to be sold.
"Are you gods?" a frail Kaili people youth asked Kote Vizsla and his group, but Kote Vizsla and the others couldn't understand Kaili people language at all.
At that moment, a thin Kaili people child ran over and clung to Kote Vizsla's leg, sobbing and speaking in Kaili people language that Kote Vizsla couldn't understand.
What Kote Vizsla couldn't bear most was seeing children cry. If it weren't for the children he adopted back then, perhaps he wouldn't even be here now.
Kote Vizsla knelt down and wiped the Kaili people child's tears. "Don't cry. Big brother will help you all. He will help you find your way home."
But suddenly, an unusual connection formed between the two. "Big brother, please train me to be a warrior! I want to avenge my people!"
Kote Vizsla suddenly understood what the child was saying. Was this telepathy? Kote Vizsla was puzzled.
"I will help you, child. What is your name?" Kote Vizsla asked, looking at the child who was only about ten years old.
The child was also startled that he could understand what the big brother was saying. "My name is Rence Barali Nehaal. Just call me Nehaal."
"My name is Kote Vizsla. Can you tell me what happened to you?" Kote Vizsla didn't know what race they were or what had happened between them and the Yamri people that led to them all being captured and sold.
Nehaal began to explain. "More than ten years ago, the Huk people invaded our planet directly from the Universe and enslaved us. Even our resistance was futile." Nehaal was pained at the mention of it; his people had already been sold off in the previous wave, and most of the remaining ones had died during the journey.
"I understand. I'll take you all back to Vadir for treatment and isolation first. I will go to the Republic Senate to inquire about this matter for you," Kote Vizsla truly wondered what the Republic was doing. They weren't even managing something like this?
Kote Vizsla called for more herculean-class transports to take away all the living Kaili people, prioritizing their treatment before discussing further actions. After all, they didn't even know the Kaili people's location yet, nor the specific details of what had happened. Furthermore, without a government-level plea for help from the Kaili people, there was no way to directly attack the Yamri people.
Spider and his crew piloted the Whale-Whisker-class heavy freighter to Starport Four on Vadir, and they placed the Kaili people in the same area where Dourde and his group had been held. This was perfect for isolation and for medical personnel to provide treatment, ensuring that other people on Vadir didn't approach them prematurely, in case there were any contagious diseases that could spread to the Mandalorians.
Upon returning to Vadir, Kote Vizsla checked the Republic star charts and found that the Kaili people did exist on the maps and had joined the Republic. In that case, he would have to speak up for them, because if things didn't improve, there would only be more and more such incidents in the Galaxy.
Looking at the Kaili people's data, Kote Vizsla thought of the famous General Electric Fan during the Clone Wars—no, General Grievous. It seemed he was a Kaili people, but he had been modified.
"Even Grievous couldn't lead his people to victory? It seems the Yamri people government is quite strong," Kote Vizsla muttered to himself, looking at the information about the Kaili people and the Yamri people.
