Fenric finally let go of Veyra after leaving sufficient scars on her face and arms, just as she had done to me.
She trembled on the ground, her sobs echoing into the dirt.
The beastfolks drew back, scared by Fenric's energy, scared by what might become of them.
They cowered.
But Fenric did not give them the time of day as he turned and headed towards me.
He walked past Kaelor, still kneeling on the ground, and said nothing.
Once he got to me, he looked at the scratches on my face and then my arms. He clicked his tongue in disdain.
"I should've acted sooner," he mumbled, self-blame eating at him.
"Ai, it's fine," I said, taking my arm back.
"No, it's not, Arinya." He said and then turned to Damar. "Hey, reptile, your blood... doesn't it heal or something?"
What was he talking about all of a sudden?
The tense situation just now seemed like nothing to him as he began to act like he usually did.
