Chapter 139 - This time, I have to get rid of her

The atmosphere was so tense, that it felt like the air was holding its breath as well.

My heart was racing. Not from excitement, but from something else.

As I looked at Kaelor who had stood up for Veyra, despite all she had done, despite all I suffered in her arms, and despite how she went too far in her final act, I felt a pang of pain in my chest.

It wasn't comical, I assure you. It was painful. But then why did my lips curl up and why did a laugh escape them?

I laughed, mocking my situation and where we had found ourselves.

"Yes, yes, it's a good thing not to kill her," I said, and struggled to stand, but Damar aided me.

He looked at the scratches on my face and my arms with concern. And then, he asked,

"Why shouldn't we kill her?" His eyes glowed with the same murderous rage Fenric had in his eyes.
