"Attack!"
Chameleon suddenly felt a chill crawl up his spine — an instinctive dread he couldn't explain.
Before this battle, all he knew was that Sharn possessed a Mythical Zoan-type power, capable of releasing Buddha-like shockwaves similar to Sengoku, and controlling flames and lightning.
That was impressive, yes — but not terrifying.
He had seen real monsters in the New World, men who could summon lightning just by clashing fists.
If Sharn's power was merely elemental flame or simple thunder, then there was nothing new under the sun.
But now... the lightning before him looked wrong.
This wasn't ordinary violet light.
It was a fusion of three kinds of thunder — Resonant Lightning, Electric Charge, and Storm Thunder — merged into a single devastating Violet Lightning that burned the air itself.
The power was so compressed and so heavily infused with Armament Haki that it could strike even Logia users directly.
And thanks to the Paw-Paw Fruit, Sharn could now compress energy itself.
What appeared to be a small spark in his hand actually contained ten times the density — same space, but a hundredfold intensity.
"You've really underestimated me, Chameleon."
"Maybe it's because you've got too many colors — so flashy you forgot what a real dragon looks like."
"Now, let me show you."
Scales erupted across Sharn's body.
Bone cracked and reformed — the black dragon rose into the sky, standing on flaming clouds, lightning dancing across his skin.
In one motion, he inhaled fire and air, compressing them with the same technique he used for his Paw Cannon — and then fused fire and thunder into molten plasma.
"Heat Breath: Thunderstorm!"
The roar split the heavens.
Four CP0 elites who had surrounded Sharn — each in monstrous Ancient Zoan forms (a Tyrannosaur, a Triceratops, a Sabertooth Tiger, and another beast) — were obliterated the moment the dragon descended.
The breath of fire and violet lightning rolled over the port like a cataclysm.
Chameleon's eyes went wide.
Without Mondo to redirect the attack, no one could stop this level of destruction.
Even with their strength and Haki, the CP0 agents couldn't block such concentrated elemental power.
He had no choice.
He had to fight.
"You really thought you could stay out of this, you fool!?" Sharn roared.
The skies blazed white with fire. CP0 agents scrambled to defend themselves, using Armament Haki and hybrid forms to endure the blast — but Chameleon was forced to move personally.
"You bastard!"
Leaping into the air, his form shifted — his body expanded, glowing gold.
He had transformed into Sengoku the Buddha.
The Copy-Copy Fruit had two powers:
Mimicking another's appearance, and
Replicating their Devil Fruit ability.
The latter, however, depended on how much strength and mastery the user could handle.
Chameleon, unlike his future successor, had already reached the pinnacle of this ability — he could imitate nearly any power he had seen, though never perfectly.
That was why he was the leader of CP0, the strongest spy of his age.
"Don't get too full of yourself!" he barked, his tone and gestures eerily similar to Sengoku's.
From his palm erupted a golden shockwave, bursting with divine brilliance.
The blast met Sharn's thunderous heat head-on.
The collision was apocalyptic.
Fire, violet lightning, and compressed air exploded together.
Unknown to Chameleon, Sharn had developed paw pads even on his tongue and throat, allowing him to compress his breath attacks like bombs.
When released, they detonated with unimaginable force.
"What kind of power is this!? It's nothing like Kaido's heat breath!"
Chameleon finally realized:
Sharn wasn't just a strong Haki user — he was an inventor of combat itself.
His multi-fruit synergy and his imagination made him a walking natural disaster.
Block the fire, and you're struck by wind blades.
Withstand the lightning, and you're shredded by Haki hidden inside it.
Every layer stacked upon the next.
And then there was the Paw Compression — the detonator that made every contact explode.
Chameleon's shockwave, which should have overwhelmed any foe, was crushed and driven straight into the ground.
The impact gouged a massive crater in the port.
"SHARN!!!"
He was furious.
The same man he mocked seconds ago had just overpowered him.
It was humiliating.
"Heh... copied power's a bit weaker than the original, huh?" Sharn laughed.
"You're still a long way from Sengoku."
High above, the black dragon cloaked in violet lightning circled the harbor.
To the marines below, it looked like the heavens themselves had turned against them.
When even the strongest man on their side faltered, despair spread like a plague.
"You think I'm scared?" Chameleon snarled.
"You've got tricks, that's all. My Haki is stronger, my copy fruit more developed. You're not the only one with cards to play!"
"No awakening yet?" Sharn smirked. "I know a CP0 chief who awakened his fruit at thirty."
Chameleon froze. What?!
Awakened at thirty? Impossible.
He was over forty now, at the very peak of his ability, and still hadn't achieved that.
Only a handful of users in history had ever awakened their Devil Fruits.
To awaken by thirty would be godlike.
"Nonsense! In centuries, only a few have ever achieved awakening!"
And deep down, he knew — his Copy-Copy Fruit, though powerful, had a fatal flaw.
It could replicate abilities, but not their awakened states.
Even if he copied a fruit perfectly, the moment that original user awakened, the copy could never match it.
That limitation was the curse of his power — and the ceiling he could never break.
"Ah, so I hit a nerve," Sharn said coldly.
Lightning coursed over his scales, fusing his Thunder Fruit with his Azure Dragon form — his body becoming a storm incarnate, a Violet-Black Dragon.
"You talk too much," Chameleon shouted, trembling with rage.
He unleashed wave after wave of replicated power — Haki surging, light burning gold — but he knew it.
The ceiling he could never pass now loomed over him in living form.
"When the sky is overturned by lightning," Sharn's voice rumbled, echoing across the heavens,
"the weak rage in fear of the unknown…"
"but the strong smile and rise to meet it."
Thunder split the sky.
Dark clouds rolled in, electricity spider-webbing through the storm.
The sky itself was overturned, the sea reflecting blinding white.
In that electric world, Sharn hovered — calm and unyielding — while below, Chameleon's face twisted with fury and shame.
"I'll kill you!" Chameleon screamed.
"I'll destroy you — and every bolt in this cursed sky!"
But the heavens were already roaring.
And their master was no longer him.
