Otis sat on the long bench. The sounds inside the gymnasium were still echoing. Behind him was a mango tree, and there wasn't anyone else around. He moved his leg slightly. "Mm…"
He had originally wanted to say thank you, but it didn't feel right to act like before, so he just nodded.
Mei hurried back and forth, holding a bottle of rose oil, an ice pack, and some bandages.
Otis reached out to take the rose oil, but Mei crouched down in front of him.
"Just rest. I'll ice it for you first."
Otis froze. "Wait, I don't think this is very appropriate."
But Mei frowned.
"What's inappropriate? It's not like this is some kind of secret. Besides, you've helped put rose oil on me before. And there's no one else here. When you get hurt, it really hurts my heart…"
