Maryne stood up as she heard her sister groan. Lishawn pulled herself up as she rubbed her eyes, retaining her vision. "Hey" "Hey... How long was I out?" "For like three hours. The doctors said you'll be fine and your arm should heal over a span of six weeks," Maryne said, holding her sister's hand. "Ew, don't hold hands with me lesbo" "Gosh, can I not just embrace my sister who comes from fighting a supernatural being?" "Yes, you can't," they laughed as Lishawn coughed a bit. "I'm worried, you know," "Yeah, I know. As long as we're together, this thing stands no chance," Lishawn said, hugging her sister.
They were interrupted by a doctor who came to deliver news. "We've checked your mental health and you seem great. You can go home now," he said as Maryne jumped. Lishawn stood up and headed for her luggage as Maryne got a phone call. It had been Magdalene.
"Hey, what's up? "This wasn't my idea, at all, but Tracey said she knows how we can finally get evidence and prove that this thing is real and is killing people. "So, what? Are you going back to the place that almost killed her? "Yeah. We'll be there in ten. Catch you there," Magdalene hung up.
Maryne told Lishawn she'll be back and that she has one more thing to take care of as she left and caught a cab.
"WHERE ARE OUR CHILDREN!?" Angered Parents yelled as they threw tantrums in the police station. "Listen, we don't know anything and we're actively trying but-" "-but what? It's been weeks and there are no signs of bodies or even a trace of the kids' whereabouts. We pay our taxes for what?" a parent demanded. The police tried to reason with them but they were uncontrollable. They started chanting and protesting as they continuously demanded their children. Then the Chief made his way to them as they quieted down.
"Now I know ya'll want to know where your children are but believe me, we are trying. It's just hard when you have one survivor and no trace of evidence whatsoever. Whoever is doing this is very smart because we are struggling. "One survivor? You mean Lishawn, huh?" "Yes, Lishawn. She is currently in the hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery," "BULLSH*T! Why is she the only one who survived the night at the factory? Out of all the teenagers that were there, why her? Why her, alone?" the parent questioned as the rest followed. All of them questioned why Lishawn. Others pointed out that she sounded crazy when they found her. Others said she could've killed them all. They were all ranting as the Chief lost control and had to head back inside.
"What are we going to do, sir?" "Find this Lishawn girl and take her in for investigation. She might be the key to this whole mess," he said, the group of policemen making their way to the cars on the way to the hospital.
Meeting up with the trio, Tracey began to chatter as Maryne told her to calm down. "My apologies. Okay, I know that the last time I was close to being eaten but I believe that this time we can prove to the cops that this thing exists with the one thing that can harm it. We take a picture," Tracey said, silence followed. "Uh, are you saying we go back and get a picture of it... Like right next to us," Of course not but at least a shot that makes it visible and enough to show the cops," Tracey explained, Maryne disagreeing.
"I'm sorry, the last time was already hectic and right now we're asking for death," "Not if it can't catch us," "Oh I'm sorry, did we forget this thing operates dangerously in the dark?" Maryne stated, walking in circles. "Yeah, but we have a defence. My uncle's light. Double what a headlight can do," "So we're going to show it exactly where we are... Great," "No, dumbass. We're going to hurt it with the light - it being its weakness," "How do you know that?" "That's a lot of questions - we have a creature to photograph," Maryne said as the girls dragged her and they rode their bicycles to the factory once again.
Lishawn dragged her suitcase as she eyed the police officers. They searched until they caught her eye - heading her way. She got nervous as her mom and Maryne were nowhere to be seen. "Good afternoon, Lishawn. I trust you're well?" "Can I help you guys?" "We know it's all of a sudden but we have to arrest you and take you back with us to the office for interrogation." "For what? I want my mother present!" Lishawn stood firm, backing up from the officers.
The chief made his way behind her as he managed to cuff her hands. "The harder you make this, the worse it gets," he said. Lishawn, stressed, pushed through the cops as she ran for the doors. She was shocked to see a group of parents eyeing her. They all yelled her name as she saw the road and beside it were trees She ran towards it and they chased after her."Hey, no. Stop! GUYS!" The chief yelled but the crowd chased after Lishawn.
With her arms tied up, Lishawn struggled to run as tears poured down her face. She could see the crowd of parents as they got close to her. While running, she saw a figure and she got more concerned and started getting anxious. Heading deep in, whispers started to follow as she couldn't concentrate and almost hit a tree as she kept running and saw a place to stop and rest. She tried to hold her breath while a group of the crowd searched her area.
She then started to feel something creep behind her as she turned around and saw Rae's disfigured body, blood dripping from his head and his eyes missing. She screamed so hard, her body jerked and she fell into a little pit. She injured her hand badly and blacked out, seeing the crowd of parents take her.
They arrived as Maryne stood watch. The two made their way inside as they could feel the dark presence. "I'm scared, Trace," "It's okay, hold my hand," Tracey said, Magdalene thrusting her life onto Tracey. They walked around and saw the stairs, where Tracey brought their hands to her face and said, "I'm going to make a noise. Get ready for an attack," and Maryne nodded. Tracey took an old toy she brought and threw it on the stairs as the sound of impact between the two echoed throughout the place. They stood in position as Tracey got pulled by a vine by the neck as Magdalene screamed. She tried flashing the light but the vine yanked it out of her hand and threw her across.
Tracey struggled to breathe as the vine tightened. She panicked when she saw the creature appear atop the stairs as the windows shut and the whole place became pitch black. It's red-eyed moved downwards as Tracey searched her pocket and when she found her knife, she gripped onto the sharp part and pulled it out, blood dripping as she winked at the creature and cut a piece of the vine off and dropped hard to the floor. The creature roared as it jumped from the top of the staircase at Tracey. She managed to run but it pounced on her and growled as its teeth appeared. Tracey tried to stab it but the knife melted as she tried to escape from its captivity but failed as it prepared its mouth and just before it could bite her, Magdalene shone the light at it and it screeched and its skin burned.
Tracey stood up and ran as Magdalene switched the function and the flashlight began flickering as the creature couldn't handle the repeated burns. It ran back upstairs and Magdalene and Tracey ran out of there, just before a vine could grab them. Maryne went to help as Tracey laughed, holding the moving vine in a bag. "We are so getting famous," they laughed as they drove back to the police station.
Lishawn woke up to bars as she saw cops and felt relieved when she saw her sister and her two friends. "MARYNE!" she exclaimed, struggling to balance. "Sis, what are you doing here?" "They arrested me." "What, why?" "Because she is a suspect for the disappearance of her peers. Until we find good evidence that can assist us with this case, your sister will remain in custody. "What if we do have evidence and proof that we aren't crazy," Tracey said, handing over the moving vine.
The cops shivered as they took the specimen to the lab. A nurse assisted Tracey with the bleeding and they awaited the results. When the cop returned, he stood in disbelief as he sat with them."It seems your evidence is enough to make us assume your story is true. We don't know what that could be but when she tried to examine it, it dissolved and smelled peculiar. So we've decided we'll investigate this and if enough evidence is found... We'll release your sister," he said, Maryne smiling in Joy.
"You guys are the best," She said, hugging the girls. "I just hope we didn't aggravate the thing. The last thing I want is to check every corner because I fear it'll come for us," "Don't worry, once they investigate the factory and bust this thing, we can finally move on with our lives," Tracey said, as the two went home and Maryne stayed with Lishawn, notifying their mom.
