Takuya clearly projected the first slide of the proposal he held onto the conference room screen.
What first caught everyone's eyes was not dense text.
Instead, it was images of robots, each with a different design, yet all exuding a cold, metallic texture and a sense of immense power.
"mazinger z!"
"That's getter Robot!"
"And Gundam!"
Inside the conference room, a mixture of surprise and excitement instantly erupted in low exclamations.
The developers, especially the male developers, had a childlike gleam in their eyes.
These were all classic robot anime protagonists they had been familiar with and heard about since their youth, and even now.
They whispered among themselves, discussing quietly.
What was Executive Director Nakayama's intention in showing these now?
Could it be to make a robot-themed fighting game?
Or an action-adventure game?
Under everyone's expectant and speculative gazes, Takuya gently pressed the page-turn button.
The slide changed.
A colossal title hit everyone's eyes—"first super robot wars."
"First..."
"super robot wars?"
This title itself carried an unprecedented sense of epic grandeur and magnificent momentum.
The words "super robot wars" further hinted at a large-scale, intense clash involving countless classic characters.
All the developers present were invigorated.
Takuya didn't pause for long and continued to switch slides.
A strategy game map interface, reminiscent of a board game, was clearly displayed before everyone.
Chibi-style robot avatars dotted the map grids, which varied in style.
One particularly striking mazinger z avatar was highlighted with a blue selection box.
Next to the avatar, command options such as "Move," "Attack," "Spirit," and "Standby" were clearly listed.
"This work will adopt a turn-based strategy gameplay," Takuya's voice was steady and clear, echoing in the slightly quiet conference room.
"Players will act as commanders, leading mobile suits from different classic robot anime works to form their own combat teams, engaging in skirmishes and confrontations with powerful enemies on various meticulously designed maps, and through the integration of the worldviews and stories of each work, compose a magnificent cosmic epic."
As soon as his words fell, a small stir immediately arose below. The developers, who had just been immersed in memories of classic mobile suits, now showed expressions of contemplation and inquiry on their faces. Strategy game? Commander? This path was quite different from the fighting or action games they had anticipated.
"Mobile suits from different works, forming a team?" Someone repeated quietly, with a hint of uncertainty and novelty in their tone, "mazinger z and Gundam fighting side by side?"
"Sounds... interesting!" Another young developer couldn't help but interject, his eyes already gleaming, "Wouldn't that allow for dream-like combinations?"
Takuya nodded slightly, motioning for everyone to be patient, and then switched the slide again.
This time, it was the crucial "battle animation" section.
On the screen, a close-up of mazinger z unleashing its signature special move, "Breast Fire," almost filled the entire display. The crimson beam of flame, carrying scorching heat waves, seemed to burst forth from the screen, full of unparalleled visual impact. The detail was astounding, with even light particles and air distortion clearly visible.
"Wow—!"
"This... this is a battle scene?"
Exclamations rose one after another. The few developers who had been slightly hesitant about "strategy game" now widened their eyes, unconsciously leaning forward, trying to see more clearly. A senior programmer sitting in the front row even instinctively pushed up his glasses, as if he couldn't believe his eyes.
Immediately following was another slide.
Under the fierce attack of "Breast Fire," the enemy mobile suit's hard armor visibly cracked and peeled away, sparks flying, and metal fragments scattering. The mobile suit's surface even showed scorched and melted traces, finally erupting in a dazzling light and turning to ash.
"My goodness..." one of the art developers murmured, his eyes filled with shock, "This level of detail is just like watching a theatrical animation!"
"Please look, everyone!"
Takuya's voice suddenly rose, carrying an uncontrollable fervor. He pointed at the screen, his tone filled with confidence.
"Such tension-filled, richly detailed, and powerfully impactful battle animation is the perfect embodiment of our new console's powerful graphics processing capabilities and stunning multi-channel sound effects!"
Inside the conference room, there was complete silence. Everyone's eyes were fixed on the screen, afraid to miss any detail. Someone unconsciously swallowed, their Adam's apple bobbing.
"Imagine," Takuya continued, with a hint of allure in his voice, "if such a scene appeared on the FC platform, what kind of blurry, monochromatic, and crudely animated scene would it be?"
At these words, many people showed knowing bitter smiles. They were all too familiar with the FC's hardware limitations. The robot games that once made their blood boil now seemed to have truly terrible visual performance. So-called special moves were often just a few pixelated figures making symbolic movements, accompanied by monotonous sound effects.
"That's right, if it were the FC, mazinger z's Breast Fire would probably just be a red mosaic," someone muttered softly, drawing low sounds of agreement, interspersed with a few chuckles that somewhat diluted the serious atmosphere.
"And our new console," Takuya's voice became firm and powerful again, he looked around at everyone, his eyes bright, "will allow players to experience the same blood-boiling excitement and supreme emotion as if they were watching the original anime every time they select an attack command, every time a familiar special move is unleashed!"
"Can we see such magnificent performances every time we press the attack button?" A young planner couldn't help but ask, his voice trembling slightly.
"Yes," Takuya replied affirmatively, "what we are pursuing is this ultimate sense of immersion and satisfaction!"
These words, like a spark igniting a prairie fire, instantly ignited the flames in the hearts of all the robot fans present. They seemed to already see themselves commanding those legendary hero mobile suits, in space, on Earth, in different dimensions, to protect peace and uphold justice, unleashing one magnificent special move after another, defeating powerful enemies one by one. That sense of accomplishment, that blood-boiling feeling, just imagining it was enough to make one tremble all over.
"This... this is simply our dream since childhood!" Someone excitedly roared.
"What kind of sparks will fly between characters from different works?! I can't wait!"
The developers could no longer hold back, asking questions one after another, and the conference room instantly filled with excited discussions; any previous doubts had long been cast to the winds. Takuya looked at his colleagues, who seemed to be on a high, and a subtle smile touched the corner of his mouth. He knew that this project was a success.
Their eyes shone with excitement, as if they could already see the captivating scenes running smoothly on the new console.
