Chapter 14 - distributing attribute points

Once she left, I was alone again.

I quickly checked my surroundings to make sure no one was nearby before opening the system.

Slow progress… but real progress.

'As expected, it truly added again, and this was just the second day of completing the daily tasks.' I mused excitedly to myself as I stared at the attribute points.

'Now I should probably start cultivating the High-grade meditation technique before I think of distributing these points.'I thought.

Knowing what to do next, I positioned myself properly and activated the [Cursed Technique] within my mind.

I kept the daily task window open so I could watch my progress rise.

[Daily task: Completed {1/3}: Cultivation of High-grade meditation technique ✓]

A smile crept onto my face as I noticed my cultivation slowly progressing upward.

I lay within my cradle, breathing in Mana slowly while contracting my whole body and holding my breath for a few seconds, allowing the energy to settle before breathing out.

As I relaxed my entire body again, I stared at the notification that popped up before me, with me.

[Daily task: Completed {2/3}: Cultivation of High-grade meditation technique ✓]

After breathing in Mana for some time, I began to feel the familiar tingle feeling spread across my body. The Mana moved and condensed around my solar plexus. The more I performed the High-grade meditation technique, the more accustomed my body became to the tingling sensation, and the clearer my sense of Mana growing and stabilizing.

After a while, I felt bloated with power from being filled with too much Mana. Even so, I couldn't stop grinning as I remembered the notification message I had received.

[Daily task: Completed {3/3}: Cultivation of High-grade meditation technique ✓]

[Host has received +4 attribute points]

[Host has received 50 exp]

After checking the system and my host attributes, a thought suddenly popped into my head.

'Now how do I share these points?'

I stared at the black panel contemplatively.

I wonder how I should distribute these points. Being able to add points to whatever stat I wanted wasn''t bad… but I shouldn't rush it. I needed to think properly.

I continued staring at my attributes, my mind still undecided.

[Attributes]

Mana: 11

Strength: 11

Perception: 11

Vitality: 11

Agility: Null

Mana Sensitivity: Null

[Attribute Points: 40]

'If I place everything into one category, that would be stupid.'I thought.

Sure, the difference would be quite obvious, but I would also be lacking in other aspects—even if not too extremely.

After contemplating for some time, I finally came to a decision.

An even distribution would probably be the best option.

Having one stat above the others—like Mana or Strength—won't be too bad… but imagine having high strength and low perception.

That would be like being strong but blind, nothing more than a lump of meat on a chopping board if I faced a powerful enemy.

'Alright, let's start with… three points into Mana.' After a while of contemplating, I thought.

[+3 attribute points added to Mana]

Add two points to Strength. I thought .

[+2 attribute points added to Strength]

Add two points to Perception. I thought.

[+2 attribute points added to Perception]

Add two points to Vitality. I thought.

[+2 attribute points added to Vitality]

'Hmm… now which one should I pick between Agility and Mana Sensitivity?'I pondered for a few seconds.

'I'll go with Agility first.'

I felt it would be more useful, especially if I ever needed to escape from a suicidal battle.

Add three points to Agility. I thought.

"What?"

I was completely flabbergasted by the notification that popped up, when I tried adding points to Agility.

'I guess I should leave Agility for another time.'

Add three points to Mana Sensitivity instead, I said, feeling slightly apprehensive.

[Error Attribute you are trying to add points to is non-existent. Please try again]

This time, I was truly astonished. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Wasn't the system contradicting itself by showing attributes I couldn't even use yet? Or was this some kind of system glitch?

After carefully examining the attribute panel for a while, I finally came to a realization.
