The sight of a powerful mage breaking through the ice with his staff had already astonished everyone, but now he leaped three meters, seemingly intending to smash the dragon's head with his staff.
This move completely overturned everyone's image of mages as weak in melee combat and relying solely on talk. This old man was an unprecedented melee mage! Facing the terrifying giant frost dragon, he only cast one basic fireball from beginning to end, relying entirely on his mage staff to smash things for the rest.
"Gandalf?" Mai Ge raised an eyebrow. Yulian's ice magic was superb, while Crassus had perfectly combined magic and melee combat skills. The various magical runes on his body supported him in performing all kinds of difficult moves, while also providing him with powerful strength.
Both possessed unique strengths in magic. If Amy could learn ice magic from Yulian and melee magic from Crassus, she might one day develop into a mage capable of both ranged and melee attacks. Such a mage would be virtually flawless, and is probably unprecedented.
"I just don't know if they'll agree. These two seem ready to fight to the death the moment they meet." Mai Ge said, looking at them with some worry. He had already planned his strategy; now it was just a matter of figuring out how to get them both to agree to take Amy as their apprentice.
"Wow, that's amazing! Daddy, I want to learn all of that!" Amy clapped her hands and exclaimed excitedly, "It's so much fun to use the mage's staff to break ice, and it's so much fun to conjure up a giant dragon. It can even make it snow, so we can build a big snowman in front of the restaurant everyday."
"Well, then Little Amy make your request yourself later, may be they'll agree." Mai Ge looked at Amy in his arms, his eyes lighting up. It would seem a bit greedy for him to say it, but if Amy said it, then there would be no problem.
"Okay." Amy nodded obediently, then thought for a moment and said, "But don't they all want to take Little Amy as their apprentice? They must be the ones who are in a hurry, right?"
"Yes, that's about right." Mai Ge was taken aback. That was indeed the case, but he hadn't expected Amy to see things so clearly, with a hint of cunning.
Everyone held their breath, their eyes wide as they watched Crassus leap high into the air. A faint red light flickered on his man-sized mage staff, and mysterious golden-red runes appeared on it, enveloping the entire staff as if it was on fire.
Meanwhile, on the other side, the giant frost dragon with a wingspan exceeding twenty meters swooped down, bringing with it a blizzard, and the resulting gale pressed a large crater into the snow-covered ground.
The three tornadoes that had previously coalesced flew toward Crassus from a pincer movement, lifting two small trees and cutting them into pieces within the tornadoes, and even shredding a stone into fragments.
A howling blizzard swept out, carrying the chill of winter. The snow stung the faces of the onlookers, causing them to take a few steps back in fear. Watching a fight of this level could be life-threatening.
White light flickered within the dragon's open mouth, a silvery-white sphere of light coalescing, seemingly preparing a powerful attack.
"Can Crassus defeat this giant dragon?" Everyone wondered. Compared to the massive giant dragon, Crassus was like an ant trying to fight an elephant, utterly incomparable in size.
"The Gray Temple is handling a case! All irrelevant personnel, step back immediately!" Just then, a strong voice rang out from behind the crowd, and everyone quickly made way for them.
Bazel approached with two members of the Gray Temple, his chest heaving from the frantic run. His gaze fell upon the terrifying giant dragon and Crassus, who had leaped high ready to strike the giant dragon's head with his mage staff. His expression was grim.
As the captain of the Gray Temple's patrol team responsible for Aden Square, a level five knight, his strength was naturally considerable, enough to handle most of the daily incidents in the square.
But now, looking at the giant frost dragon and the white-haired old man leaping high in the air with his mage's staff, he felt a headache coming on. Unfortunately, this was a situation he couldn't handle.
A duel between two mages of level nine or higher—let alone him, even a level eight Grand Patrol Knight facing them would only be able to offer a few words of advice from the sidelines. He didn't even have the right to mediate the fight. He turned to his two subordinates beside him and said, "Evacuate the crowd, minimize casualties! Await reinforcements!"
"Okay!" The two team members also looked solemn. They had been patrolling Aden Square for some time and had seen many small skirmishes everyday, but it was rare to see two great mages dueling in the street like this. They quickly rushed out and signaled the onlookers to step back to avoid being accidentally injured.
More and more people were drawn to the commotion. The enormous giant frost dragon and the spectacular blizzard that had appeared in the area were truly rare sights.
As everyone watched intently, Crassus, having leaped high into the air, finally landed his mage staff on the head of the giant frost dragon. The giant frost dragon which had roared as it charged, opened its mouth, spitting out a silver ice ball. The thin snowflakes floating in the air almost instantly froze into ice particles, which fell to the ground with a clatter. A terrifyingly low temperature emanated from the ice ball, and it seemed as if something was struggling to break free from within it.
"Crush!" Crassus shouted softly, his hand landing first on the ice ball.
"Bang!" A crisp sound rang out, and the head-sized ice ball shattered instantly. From within, a smaller silver ice dragon darted out, attempting to bypass the mage's staff and charge at Crassus.
But the mage's staff was simply too fast. The instant the ice ball shattered, it had already struck the small silver dragon, smashing it into nothingness.
The chill in the air was dispelled by the flames flowing from the mage's staff, and the swirling snowflakes vanished, creating a clear space in mid-air.
Nothing could obstruct the giant dragon's head now, and the mage's staff, its momentum undiminished, slammed down upon its head.
"Bang!" A muffled thud rang out.
The mage's staff, as tall as a person, looked like a matchstick in front the twenty meters wingspan giant frost dragon, seemingly laughable. Yet, this matchstick-sized object, striking the massive giant frost dragon's head, carried the force of a thousand pounds, forcefully slamming the dragon's high-raised head down.
A burst of fire rose from the mage's staff, instantly enveloping the giant frost dragon's head. The red flames spread along the giant dragon's body, and in the blink of an eye, the white giant frost dragon had transformed into a fire dragon, exploding with a bang and turning into a sky full of misty vapor.
"Just like before, utterly vulnerable." Crassus landed, letting the mist envelop him, and looked at Yulian with a hint of mockery.
