Alpha Black clearly didn't like our conversation being interrupted by Clarissa's subordinate. He stared at me as if urging me to rein Eson in, as though the man had acted beyond his authority.
I ignored him and nodded at Eson.
"Tell Lady Rissa that I'll be going with her to Green Pack."
Eson nodded, bowed slightly, then turned and left the carriage.
Before he had fully exited, Alpha Black asked me with visible confusion, "You're going to Green Pack? Everything has already been prepared for you in Black Pack."
I replied sarcastically, "Wasn't Alpha Black the one who said he wouldn't provide hospitality for The Healer? As a Lycan King candidate carrying out missions alongside The Healer, my duty is to protect her with my legion."
His expression hardened. He clearly understood the implication.
