Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Intent X Introduction

Nothing happened to the Water Divination glass from Gilgamesh's aura.

Gilgamesh's eyes raised to give Ging a dirty look as if he had something to do with the unexpected outcome.

Naturally, Ging dipped his finger into the water and tasted the contents of the water. If the properties of the water changed, then Gilgamesh would be a Transmuter. This would have surprised Ging.

Due to Ging's near mastery knowledge about Nen and having his own personal personality trait test to diagnose others, he assumed Gilgamesh would be an Enhancer, expecting the enhanced water to explode the water glass.

Yet, the water still tasted like water.

"So what's my Nen Category?" Gilgamesh asked, growing impatient.

"I'm not sure," Ging answered, truthfully. The properties of one's own Nen would alter the Water Divination glass and their category would be revealed. "This isn't supposed to happen, usually the Nen would influence something and that would correspond with your category."

"Is that so?" Gilgamesh asked, mainly to himself as he came to a possible conclusion. "What are the possible results?"

"If you were an Enhancer, the water would increase and overflow. If you were a Transmuter, the water would change in taste. If you were a Conjurer, something would shape within the water. If you were an Emitter, like me, the color of the water would change. If you were a Manipulator, then the leaf would move. If you were a Specialist, then something different would occur."

Gilgamesh nodded and then imbued his hands with a neutral aura.

"Did you figure something out?" Ging asked as his excitement increased, always ready to discover something new, especially in the field of Nen.

Gilgamesh scoffed as he placed his hands on either side of the Water Divination glass. "It's obvious when you use your bird brain, you should know by now that I am perfect."

Ging's eyes widened as the water slowly began to increase and flow over and out the glass. Then, his mouth opened in utter shock as the water darkened in color and the leaf began to move.

"Now that I know of the possibilities, I just need to put the necessary command into my aura. My Nen. No, this world operates on my intent."

Subconsciously, Ging leaned back in his seat in horror as a golden crown was conjured inside of the dark red glass. His eyes lazily tracked the flying leaf as it hovered in circles in the air. The tiny hairs on his body suddenly rose as he felt Gilgamesh's aura spike.

Due to Gilgamesh's aura, the Water Divination glass turned into a golden chalice.

Gilgamesh stopped with his experiments and picked up the beautiful golden chalice and handed it to Ging. "Have a taste."

Ging's shaken hands held onto the chalice and brought the liquid contents to his mouth and sipped the drink. He nearly choked on the liquid from utter disbelief.

'Wine! He changed the properties of the water into wine?!' Ging's mind questioned his own reality as he tasted the aged wine and it was delicious. 'No, Ging forget the wine. He just displayed 100% affinity with every Nen Category. Unbelievable.'

"I would have enhanced the water but I don't like messes," Gilgamesh muttered. Once accomplished with his display of all six Nen Categories, his hands were placed underneath his armpits to fold his arms. He gave an arrogant chuckle. "Im assuming this is the first and only time you will see someone with affinities with all 6 categories."

Ging's mouth still hung open and then nodded. The initial shock had finally worn off and Ging began thinking of the implication and possible abilities with all six categories. "It may be troublesome to have all the possibilities at the palm of your hand. The max I'd possibly want would be three but all 6 could be overwhelming especially if one didn't have a vast amount of Nen reserves."

He stopped muttering and then looked at Gilgamesh, realizing the person who he was talking to. "But, I doubt someone as great as yourself will not have those issues."

"I am destined to rule, knowing how to deal with everything bowing at my feet is natural," agreed Gilgamesh.

Without any trouble or delay, Gilgamesh arrived at the doorsteps of Heavens Arena. Even for Giglamesh's elevated taste, he could admire the ambitious and divine tower. The rising spire of metal and glass threatened the clouds as it elevated thousands of feet into the air. The sun was setting in the background.

It will only take the fourteen year old to earn a floor on this magnificent building in two months.

As he returned his gaze forward at the ascending stairs to enter the building, he realized he stood alone. His servant, Ging Freeces disappeared.

Unbothered, Gilgamesh climbed the steps and entered the loud busy environment of the Heavens Arena first floor. With a quick glance, he assessed the overhanging directions and rules of the fights, then he walked to the front of the sign up line.

He patiently waited for the person to finish filling out the sign up sheet and then cut in front of the person next in line.

Before the man could open his mouth in protest, Gilgamesh gave an intense stare and oozed out ill intent aura, scaring the man to remain quiet.

"Welcome to Heavens Arena," a woman said in a strange outfit, a white emblemed fist decorated the front of her shirt. A pink colored sailors hat rested on her head. She slid a sheet of paper in front of Gilgamesh. "Now, if you wouldn't mind filling out this form."

Gilgamesh filled out the form and returned the piece of paper back to the woman.

"Okay, your number will be 2000," said the woman. She pointed to her right. "Go ahead and wait for your number to be called."

Gilgamesh continued down the hallway till it opened up into a massive arena. Hundreds of people sat in the audience shouting and cheering on the dozen fights down below. He went down the stairs to the fighting floor and strolled to the very center of the room.

"Heed my introduction, my name is Gilgamesh!" Gilgamesh roared at his arrival with his arms folded across his bare muscular chest. Most of the ongoing fights stopped from the random interruption, one of the nearby referees walked over to Gilgamesh. "Whoever dare wishes to challenge me, step up so I can be evaluated. The more the merrier because I see all of you as tiny little ants to be stomped on!"

"Excuse me, sir," One of the referees said as he approached. "You must wait for your number to be called."

Gilgamesh scoffed. "Sir? You shall refer to me as Your Excellency or my Exalted King. You have been warned."

The referee who approached stopped in shock. He opened his mouth to retort but then a large quack shook the room. A heavy muscular man jumped down from the audience.

"I was getting tired of waiting as well," The muscular man bellowed from behind Gilgamesh. His approaching steps shook the floor. He cracked his knuckles"I see that we are cut from the same cloth, fighters eager to get their hands bloody."

Gilgamesh kept his back toward the muscular man. "Same? You couldn't put a blemish on my armor."

"I love the–" The muscular man started to say but Gilgamesh interrupted.

"I am not a fighter, that would mean that there is someone on my level." Gilgamesh said, keeping his back to the man. The tip of a sword was conjured next to him as the air rippled.

Before the man could process Gilgamesh's words, the conjured sword shot from thin air and stabbed through the man's bulging chest, killing him instantly.

Some of the spectators screamed in fear and others shouted in disbelief. They didn't understand the workings of Nen.

The referee closest to Gilgamesh placed a hand on his earpiece. He nodded and began typing on a device. A piece of paper rolled from the bottom of the device like a receipt. The man offered it to Gilgamesh. "Your Excellency, here is your ticket to the 200th floor."

Gilgamesh snatched the piece of paper. "Obviously."

He rode the elevator to the 200th floor. He exited out onto the hallway, the walls were adorned with black granite and quartz, brightly lit by ceiling and glass lights on the walls. The floor was decorated with red carpet, lush plants, and comfortable sofas for leisure.

Gilgamesh followed the direction arrows on the facing wall and traveled toward the 200th floor's front desk. A cute woman with dark blue hair who wore the same pink outfit as all other clerk women.

"Welcome to the 200th floor!" The woman greeted Gilgamesh, handing more pieces of paper underneath a glass panel. "Please fill out these forms. Would you like to schedule a fight now?"

Gilgamesh glared at the pieces of thin paper. "Gilgamesh. I want to fight as soon as possible."

The cute blue haired woman nodded. "Yes, you have a 90 day interval to schedule a match or you will be sent back down to the 150th floor. The 200th floor has–"

Gilgamesh folded his arms. "How do I become a Floor Master?"

The cute blue haired woman's left eyebrow twitched as she was about to explain the rules to him but he rudely interrupted her. "Yes, of course! To become a Floor Master you must win 10 battles before suffering your fourth loss. Then, you will challenge any of the current Floor Masters and if you win, you will inherit their floor and receive the benefits of a Floor Master."

Gilgamesh nodded. "I want to fight right away."

"How about now?" A voice asked from Gilgamesh's left, a veteran of the 200th floor. A man of slightly above average in build and height approached Gilgamesh. At fourteen years old, Gilgamesh and the challenger stood at the same height. "I've built quite the reputation so people have been scared to fight lately, I hope you are one of those scaredy cats."

Gilgamesh kept his attention on the cute woman in front of her. "I–"

"Yes, Ryugen's record is currently 9-2 and he is one victory shy of being able to challenge a Floor Master," answered the cute woman behind the glass panel. Her voice cords struck in a nervous tone, a warning for the new boy of the 200th floor. As this was a man who preyed on the newcomers by camping by the registration desk to bait the newbies into free victories.

Ryugen is the Enhancer Nen User who destroyed the bodies of Gido, Sadaso, and Riehlvelt. He wore a standard white karate Gi outfit, a black clothed belt wrapped around his waist, and his wrists and fingers were taped.

Gilgamesh chuckled with his whole upper body. "How unlucky? One win away from challenging a Floor Master and you happen to stumble upon the great Gilgamesh. It is only ordinary to fall short in life."

Ryugen smiled, revealing all his teeth. "I am grateful to you, someone who doesn't fear. I hope it doesn't come at the cost of your life."

Gilgamesh and Ryugen ended their feeble pleasantries and signed up to fight to the next day.

Ever since his arrival at Heavens Arena, Gilgamesh has been in a state of near Zestu. Suppressing his vast and dangerous amounts of Nen because for all of his arrogance and pride, the man wasn't a fool. He operated as a King entering a den of sheep in wolves clothing, especially since becoming a Floor Master was a requirement for the Contest of Kings, he wanted to claim victory as quickly as possible.

If these Nen Users of the 200th floor knew of Gilgamesh's unimaginable amounts of Nen, they wouldn't be so willing to sign up to fight him.

Gilgamesh retrieved the key to his private suite and then five minutes later, arrived at the nice room. Taking a quick glance, he sighed in defeat as the room couldn't live up to his exquisite taste. The room lacked regal designs and furnishments. He accepted the temporary confinements, took a long bath, and then went to bed.

Gilgamesh woke up and spent a few hours familiarizing himself with his Nen and developed the fundamental beginning of his Hastu, a blueprint for his Nen Ability.

He practiced till it was time to head to the 200th Floor fighting arena to watch the matches leading up to his own. The loud arena was filled to near capacity as one of the more exciting matches of the day was soon to commence.

Gilgamesh found a spot to sit and leaned back onto the bleachers with his legs spread out and arms behind his head. After the initial ten seconds of the first matchup, Gilgamesh got bored. At the beginning of the day, he was interested in witnessing different Nen Abilities and the type of fights in this arena worthy of his satisfaction but they failed immensely.

These fighters' scope of ability were too narrow and ugly. He was disappointed the whole day till it was his turn to compete against Ryugen.

Waiting in his designated tunnel for his first introduction of the 200th Floor of Heavens Arena, Gilgamesh enjoyed the rumble and the pumping heartbeat of the arena. Although the 200th Floor was filled with weaklings and ants who couldn't see beyond themselves, this Floor did know how to set the stage.

The announcer lady screamed into the microphone, giving the signal for Gilgamesh to enter the stage. Confidently, Gilgamesh crossed his arms, stomped up the stairs as the rowdy audience gave him a lovely welcome fitting for someone of his status. He stood at the center of the cement tile square, waiting for his opponent's arrival.

"The newcomer Gilgamesh will be facing Ryugen!" The announcer lady shouted with excitement and the crowd erupted into a roaring mess. They were much louder for his arrival than Gilgamesh and he made sure to take mental note of that. Opposite of Gilgamesh, Ryugen's puffy afro peaked over the tile horizon as he then came over the stairs and entered the same ring as Gilgamesh. "With an impressive record of 9-2, if he secures today's victory then Ryugen will have the right to challenge a Floor Master!"

Ryugen raised a fist into the air earning him applause and praise. He lowered the same clenched fist toward Gilgamesh and confidently smiled. "I hear you have an interest Nen Ability, I can't wait to see it."

Gilgamesh ignored the man as they waited for their referee to take the stage and get into position.

"Begin!" The referee signalled for the match to begin.

Wasting no time, Ryugen bent his knees and elbows as began focusing his Nen. "Four Armed Monkey!"

A hardened green aura solidified around him, two muscular constructed arms manifested underneath Ryugen's already two arms. A thick tail trailed behind his tail bone like a monkey.

Gilgamesh's face muscles twitched in disgust. The ugly trend of brainless Nen Abilities continued as Ryugen degraded himself to an even lower status in front of Gilgamesh.

As Gilgamesh watched the Heavens Arena Nen battles, he discovered a very noticeable error in these idiotic fighters. All of their Nen Abilities were tailored to be fought specifically in this tiny arena, forged to earn the bonuses of the critical hits and knockdowns to reach the ten points needed to be crowned as the winner of the fight.

These Nen Abilities weren't designed to demonstrate strength, intellect, or flexibility but to manipulate the fighting system within the confinements of Heavens Arena. And this infuriated Gilgamesh because he knew he had to waste his time fighting these weak, brainless, and stagnant mongrels.

"You are in the presence of a King and you demonstrate your worth as a lowly ape!" Gilgamesh shouted as an arc of six white visible circles appeared around his body. The points of conjured blades slowly inched out from the conjured circles. The loud cheers of the crowd lowered to a murmur trying to comprehend the words that came from his mouth.

Ryugen was an Enhancer while also utilizing low effort Conjuration to form his arms and tail to complete his Four Armed Monkey transformation.

The tail behind Ryugen's back whipped the ground, rocketing him toward Gilgamesh with immense speed and power. He pulled back both of his right clenched fists and imbued them with green Enhanced Nen.

As the man rocketed toward Gilgamesh, while keeping his arms folded, he unleashed two conjured swords and enhanced them with his neutral Nen to combat against the two incoming fists.

Ryugen's enhanced reflexes managed to witness the incoming flying swords and instead of punching them, his tail once again crashed into the cement tile floor, altering his trajectory to Giglamesh's right to avoid the two projectile swords.

Without any difficulty at all or reducing its pace, Gilgamesh Manipulated the two swords to chase after the moving man. All Gilgamesh had to do was track the man with his line of sight and the two flying blades took a sharp right to chase after.

"Wow! Ryugen managed to avoid the flying swords but somehow they started to follow him!" The announcer lady shouted into her mic, her voice erupted overhead.

Ryugen's enhanced speed outpaced the two trailing sword projectiles as he moved horizontally to Gilgamesh's right, however the man kept his body facing forward. His eyes rolled to corners to keep the ape in his sights, without much difficulty, he sent the two conjured swords which remained above his head.

Two of his conjured swords flanked in Ryugen's right and now another two were flying directly at him. Giving up on escaping from the now four flying projectiles, Ryugen's feet slide onto the smooth rocky surface coming to a stop. He unleashed a good portion of his Nen to his conjured tail as it glowed in a vibrant green, preparing to use it as a shield to block the first initial two swords coming from his right.

Simultaneously, he hunched over and forced his fingertips underneath the heavy slap of cement tile in front of him and then lifted the tile from its position. Gritting his teeth, Ryugen flipped over the large square tile.

The four conjured swords landed true, destroying the conjured tail, cement tile, and Ryugen's arms. The first two swords that hit the tail also shattered into a golden mist along the green shards of Ryugen's tail.

Right before impact, Gilgamesh delayed one of the swords so the other could destroy the cement tile, clearing the path for the parallel sword to remain on target. Sensing this, Ryugen–using his two extra constructed arms–formed an 'X' along with his real limbs.

Due to the intensity of the situation and the conflicting knowledge of Nen, Ryugen made a crucial error. He believed the same amount of Nen would be enough to completely block the oncoming attack, he also preemptively categorized Gilgamesh as an Emitter. So, he believed to be superior in raw Nen output but he was gravely mistaken as the single conjured blade smashed through the green conjured limbs and penetrated straight through left and right forearms, piercing them together.

Once the dust cleared from the shattered tile, the crowd witnessed the graphic scene. A knight's longsword stabbed into Ryugen's forearms, binding them together. The insatiable fighter gritted his teeth, breathing through the tiny gaps in discomfort.

The terribly dressed referee waved his hands around. "Critical hit! Point Gilgamesh!"

One of Gilgamesh's remaining blades which remained hovering to the left side of his body flashed into a white mist, replacing the already expended Nen into the penetrating longsword to keep its form and durability so it could keep Ryugen's arms locked.

In disbelief, Ryugen stared at the bloody mess that were his arms, remembering the amount of Nen he entrusted with his constructed arms to block the singular longsword. As the last exchanges of the fight flashed through his memory in an instant, so did his knowledge of Nen. The speed and accuracy of which the swords traveled. The power and destructive capabilities of each sword, similar to the range and control of them.

'Is that even possible? To be 100% proficient in Manipulator, Emitter, and Enhancer?!' Ryugen thought in confusion.

Gilgamesh scoffed arrogantly. "Your current appearance is truly a sight to behold. Hunted and soon to be killed like the lowly animal you are."

Without waiting for a response, Gilgamesh turned toward the stunned crowd and threw up his arms in a grandiose manner. "Listen carefully and allow my words to bring forth ease and pleasure to those who can decipher them. Those who were unfortunate enough to miss my arrival, go and tell them that their one and true King is here. As natural as it is for the living to draw breath to prolong their suffering as inferior beings, I will become Floor Master."

"Wow! Did you hear that folks!" The announcer lady annoyingly screamed into the mic as she lurched forward in her seat. She clutched onto the mic as it was a prize possession and she was unwilling to let it go. "What an exciting and confident introduction from Gilgamesh!"

As for the crowd, they were stunned speechless before the charismatic, authoritative, and powerful Gilgamesh. Naturally, his presence and voice manipulated the emotions and thoughts of the crowd as they forgot the horrific scene they just witnessed. No, of course they couldn't forget such a scene as it does occur at times on the 200th Floor. They were moved to forgiving and loving the man that was Gilgamesh.

Meanwhile, the man that they were previously praising and celebrating, a fighter they once loved, Ryugen pushed his Nen to limits, molding the excess aura to reform his extra limbs and monkey tail. The extra limbs pried out the conjured longsword. Then, his tail slammed onto the ground as he rocketed off the ground toward Gilgamesh's back.

Gilgamesh released the last conjured blade, eliminating its later produced power capabilities, focusing only on raw speed and like the tiniest unseen needle, the longsword traveled through Ryugen's chest like a whisper from death itself.

Ryugen collapsed face first to the ground and skittered across the ground, almost reaching Gilgamesh. The shocked referee ran toward the unmoving corpse and announced Gilgamesh's victory.

The moved crowd roared and cheered for their King.
