The next thing I knew, Uchel was shaking me awake.
"Gine is back. They found the tunnel that will lead to Ocello and his fathers. We still haven't found Ocello's mother, but she must be alive."
I yawned and shook my head to wake up. I bent over Kachel and kissed his forehead.
"Please be safe." I whispered to the baby. Turning to Uchel he pulled me in for a tight hug.
"You stay safe, too," he said before stepping back. "If you are not back by night fall I will come after you." Uchel looked over to Gine intently.
I greeted Gine with a kiss, glad he hadn't been caught. Since there were fewer harpy shifters here, it was easy for him to conceal his presence and slip in and out. Gine took my hand as we headed out. It was still dark enough outside that I stumbled. But Gine quickly shifted and I climbed onto his back.
