Chapter 63 - Mephisto

Sigurd was sitting in his brother's palace, where Diana was sitting with Odin and playing with him.

Odin looked toward Sigurd.

"What trouble will you bring to me with everyone?" Then he looked toward Hela. "It shouldn't be about the battle going on with the Frost Giants."

Sigurd nodded, then spoke.

"I have a feeling that the battle in Jotunheim might be a trap set for Hela."

Odin heard Sigurd and nodded.

"Yes, I have known this, and I was always prepared for a counterattack, but they are patient, as if waiting for something."

Sigurd knew his brother might already know about the conspiracy.

"But I think they aren't waiting for anyone; they are waiting for Hela to realize it is a trap, and then Hela will fight head-on."

Then he looked toward Hela.

"With Hela's temperament, she will personally fight the enemy even knowing it is a trap."

Odin didn't speak but looked at Diana, who was playing with Odin's sword.

"They think Hela is hot-tempered, so she will go to battle before even waiting for backup from Asgard. But they should know I can reach there in the blink of an eye. So how do they plan to complete their task?"

Sigurd considered the situation, then thought of Laufey, who once tried to use the Casket of Ancient Winters on Midgard.

"What if he has a plan to divert you from Asgard, forcing you to battle elsewhere?"

Odin acknowledged the possibility, then looked toward Sigurd.

"Still, you are here. Even if they want to divert me somewhere else, you will be there, and Frigga will still be in Asgard. So what is their plan?"

Sigurd shook his head. "That, even I don't know. Laufey might have colluded with someone from outside the Nine Realms."

Frigga heard the words, then looked toward both of them.

"Then how do you plan to break the trap? If Hela goes there, she might face danger."

Sigurd looked toward Frigga, then spoke.

"Brother, I have a feeling this time there might be others involved in this conspiracy."

Hearing Sigurd's words, Odin also looked toward him.

"Who could involve themselves in such a conspiracy, and what benefit might they get from it?"

Sigurd shook his head, then thought about how to break the situation.

"How about this, brother? I will go to the place where they want to divert you, disguised in your form, and you will stay in Asgard. As for Hela, I have already given her my blade, which has enough divine energy to slaughter anybody."

Odin looked toward Sigurd with an inquiring expression, but seeing his resolve, he said,

"Sigurd, this time I don't think you should go there early. I will go there personally, and you should handle the trouble here and come as soon as you can."

Sigurd shook his head.

"But I can solve the problem easily, so why should we give them a chance to rise?"

Odin looked toward Sigurd. "It would be easy to solve the problem, but they have to learn what the universe holds for them."

Sigurd looked toward his brother; he didn't know what to say about this.

"While you are showing them the power of the universe, what if your friends die?"

Odin shook his head. "They won't die if you come early. But if they cannot even hold against the threat, then how could the universe let them survive?"

Sigurd looked toward his brother. Sometimes he felt his brother knew a lot about the universe and the future, but other times he didn't.

Does Odin know more than what was shown in the comics? Every version of Odin has a different story, but one thing is common—they have wisdom beyond the world. Could it be that Odin also knows about the future?

Sigurd looked toward his brother but then spoke.

"Okay, I will stay on Asgard, but when the situation is out of control, I will definitely come. As for how to control the plan—Hela, you will go to Jotunheim in a year. This time, slaughter anything that comes our way."

Odin looked toward Sigurd and knew he was changing the plan to draw out those hidden in darkness.

"The Valkyrie will also go with you. This time, let fear be installed in them. As for those hiding, you don't have to worry."

Hela, who was listening, suddenly felt the gravity in her father and uncle's words. She knew this battle might be more tragic than anyone could imagine.

Odin looked toward Sigurd, then said, "I will call everyone for a meeting and have them prepare defense and offense strategies."

Sigurd nodded, then looked toward his daughter.

"Diana, you shouldn't play with your uncle's sword."

Hearing her father's words, Diana looked toward him with blinking eyes, but she didn't budge, instead walking toward Odin.

"Uncle, look—Father is disturbing me."

Sigurd heard his daughter's words and couldn't help but become speechless. Just when he was about to speak again, Odin spoke.

"Speak for yourself, Sigurd. Don't try to change her nature. Diana likes swords, so let her play."

Just as Asgard was preparing for the upcoming battle, in Jotunheim, King Laufey looked toward the person standing in front of him.

"Mephisto, have you prepared everything?"

Mephisto looked toward Laufey.

"You just do your part, Laufey. When the time comes, you will know my plan. Your army needs to hold the Asgardian army; as for the rest, you don't have to worry."

Laufey looked toward Mephisto. Although he didn't trust him, he had no option now—either hide until his power could rival Asgard's, or act.

"I will hold my end, but if you betray me, it won't be good for you either."

Just as Laufey was still thinking, Mephisto disappeared from the place.

Laufey's trusted person walked toward him.

"Lord, can we trust him? If something goes south, our Frost Giants might be slaughtered by Asgard."
