Chapter 87: Such Fatherly Love, Such Filial Piety
Blake stood on the reef, watching the old man who had just returned from the dungeon, a slight smile on his face.
"That's a good thing."
Garp paused.
Blake turned, looking out at the sea, his voice calm.
"Saves you from seeing the one thing your grandson never wanted to become."
Garp's laughter died.
His expression froze, and a flicker of unease crossed his eyes.
"Never wanted to become..."
He repeated the words, his voice low.
"What do you mean?"
Blake didn't answer immediately.
He just stood there, the sea breeze whipping at his clothes.
After a few seconds, he spoke slowly.
"Your grandson... becomes a very famous pirate in the future."
Garp froze.
"A pirate?"
His voice was hoarse.
Blake nodded.
"One on par with Whitebeard."
Garp's face changed completely.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but found he couldn't speak.
A great pirate on par with Whitebeard.
Those words... were a knife, stabbing into his heart.
"Impossible."
Garp's voice was low, but held an indescribable certainty.
"Absolutely impossible."
He looked up, his eyes full of stubbornness.
"He's supposed to become a Marine!"
Blake turned, looking at the stubborn old man, a slight smile on his face.
"He's perfectly capable."
Garp froze.
Blake didn't continue, just watched him quietly.
After a few seconds, Garp suddenly laughed.
"BWAHAHAHA!"
He scratched his head, his usual carefree smile returning.
"Who cares!"
"I have the Tremor-Tremor Fruit now!"
"When I get back, I'll give that brat a punch!"
"We'll see if he still dares to talk about being a pirate!"
Blake stood on the reef, watching Garp's eager look, a slight smile on his face.
"Giving your grandson a punch is impossible for now."
Garp's laughter paused.
"But..." Blake turned, looking out at the sea. "Giving your son a punch... you can do that right now."
Garp froze.
Just then.
A fierce wind, without any warning, swept over them!
The sea's surface caved in, and the waves exploded into the air!
Blake's clothes whipped about, but he stood firm, watching the other end of the reef.
There.
A figure was slowly emerging from the wind.
A dark green cloak, a crimson tattoo, and a face that was somewhat similar to Garp's.
The leader of the Revolutionary Army.
Monkey D. Dragon.
"It's been a long time, old man."
Garp stood, watching his son, who had suddenly appeared. The smile on his face vanished.
"You bastard son..."
Garp suddenly grinned, his smile full of wildness.
"You finally decided to show your face."
Dragon's face darkened slightly.
"Father..."
"Don't call me father!"
Garp suddenly raised his right fist. On it, a transparent, vibrating wave began to jump!
"I get angry just looking at you!"
Dragon's pupils shrank!
"That's..."
His voice was full of shock.
"The Tremor-Tremor Fruit?!"
How is this possible?!
His composure, in the face of his father's attack, instantly shattered.
Whitebeard (Edward Newgate)... the "World's Strongest Man" who possessed the Tremor-Tremor Fruit... was still alive and well in the New World!
Devil Fruits were unique. That was an iron rule of this world! Before a user died, the same fruit could not reappear!
And now, his father, the Marine Hero Garp, was also using this power that could destroy the world!
This scene, which defied all logic, instantly made him think of the unbelievable intel Sabo had given him.
Dragon's gaze snapped from Garp... past the violent storm of power... and locked onto Blake, who had been smiling faintly, as if watching a good show.
So, everything Sabo said... was true!
This seemingly ordinary shop owner... really does... possess the power... to overturn the world!
Just as Dragon's mind was reeling, Garp's punch sent the tornado flying. He landed on the reef, a wild laugh on his face.
"That's right!"
Garp roared, shooting forward like a cannonball!
Boom—!
He threw a punch!
The atmosphere instantly shattered!
A web of cracks spread from Garp's fist, tearing the sky!
Dragon's expression changed!
"Are you trying to kill me, old man?!"
He roared, sweeping his hands!
A fierce wind rose, forming a tornado... to meet Garp's fist!
Boom—!
The shockwave and the wind collided! The reef trembled! The sea caved in, sending up massive waves!
Blake stood to the side, watching this scene of "fatherly love," a smile on his face.
"What a harmonious picture."
Garp's punch sent Dragon's wind flying. He landed on the reef, a wild laugh on his face.
"BWAHAHAHA!"
He scratched his head, looking at Dragon, who had stabilized himself. He laughed even harder.
"Sorry, sorry! It's just... I haven't seen you in so long, I got a little excited!"
I was in the dungeon for so long, I got used to just attacking on sight!
Dragon's face was terrifyingly dark.
"Excited?"
His voice was low, but held a suppressed rage.
"You call that 'excited'?!"
Garp paused.
Then he laughed even louder.
"Well, what else?"
Garp stood on the reef, looking at the man in the green cloak. His smile faded.
"What are you doing here?"
His voice was calm, but his eyes... held a dangerous light.
"You... a wanted criminal... appearing in front of me. As a Marine Vice Admiral, I can't just ignore this."
Dragon's expression didn't change.
He just stood there, letting the sea breeze whip his cloak.
"Old man."
His voice was low.
"I heard... some interesting news... from a boy named Sabo."
Garp's eyes narrowed.
"Sabo?"
"That's right."
Dragon looked up, meeting Garp's eyes.
"A very brave kid. He told me... a man who can change fate... has appeared in the East Blue."
He said, his gaze slowly... turning to Blake.
Blake stood to the side, a slight smile on his face.
"Change fate?"
His voice was soft.
"You revolutionaries... certainly have a way with words."
"But I don't have that kind of ability. I'm just... an ordinary shop owner."
Dragon stood on the reef, looking at Blake's smiling face. He was silent for a few seconds.
"Ordinary?"
Do you... have some misunderstanding... of that word?
