Nadia's POV
My throat felt completely dry as I swallowed, the sound so loud I worried he might notice.
This would work. It had to work. This was how I could make him happy, how I could earn his approval so that when the time came to ask for employment, he would agree.
I lifted my chin and met his gaze directly, forcing myself to maintain eye contact. "I simply wish to express my appreciation, sir. You have been incredibly generous during these past days, and I want to repay your kindness."
He pushed away from his laptop and settled back against the sofa cushions. "There's no need for that. My vehicle was responsible for your injuries, so providing care is my obligation."
But that wasn't true. He could have simply covered my medical expenses and disappeared from my life, yet instead he brought me into his home.
I could sense his deep moral compass, and that quality could benefit me greatly.
