Jessica's POV
When Caleb said those words, tears suddenly burst from my eyes.
I didn't understand why. The tears surprised me completely and overwhelmed every sense I had. I cried loudly and messily, my nose running embarrassingly.
Caleb froze instantly, his eyes wide as he pulled back from me, drawing me into his strong arms.
"What's wrong?" he asked, his voice trembling. "Do you hate the idea that much? I'm sorry, I won't mention it again. I'm sorry, Jessica. I didn't mean to ruin this moment between us. I just felt like the timing was right and the words spilled out before I could stop them. Please don't cry."
His rambling and stammering were so endearing that I couldn't help but laugh through my tears.
