Nadia's POV
If someone asked me to explain this crushing pain in my chest, the suffocating weight that made each breath feel impossible, I would have no words.
But the agony consumed me completely.
The truth hit me like a slap across the face. I remembered exactly what I was - tainted, broken, nothing more than an object for others to use.
That was my reality, and perhaps that made this hurt cut so much deeper.
What had I been thinking? Dreaming of a man like him? What kind of fool was I?
"What are you..." Mr. Dolf stammered, his composure cracking as confusion flickered across his features. "What are you talking about, Nadia? Dirty? Who told you that?"
"Nobody had to say it," I whispered, roughly dragging the back of my hand across my wet cheeks. "I live with this truth every single day. It became part of me, even though I never chose any of it."
He moved closer, his hand reaching toward me. "Don't you dare say that-"
