As Hiroku walked down the cave system with Kyodaigumo, he couldn't help but fidget slightly with his hands as his eyes nervously glanced at the seemingly shrinking cave walls.

His heart beating a little quicker with each click and clack of Kyodaigumo's legs on the cold hard stone floor.

"Um, so you mind if I call you Kyo?" Hiroku asked awkwardly, trying to take his mind off of the imposing walls.

"Call me whatever you want, inheritor," Kyodaigumo responded bluntly, her rhythmic pace not slowing for a minute.

"Oh, okay," Hiroku mumbled, quieting at Kyo's obvious disinterest in conversation, opting to instead return to his fidgeting as the group of two descended into silence.

After a few tense moments, Kyo's voice sounded out, echoing slightly throughout the cave: "We're here, Inheritor." She said, her voice drawing Hiroku out of his stupor as he automatically raised his head, his eyes landing on a stone door a few inches larger than Hiroku himself.

Stepping to the side, Kyo bowed her head slightly, a show of respect, as her monotone voice sounded,

"This Inheritor is where you will stay. This room has the highest concentration of natural energy, so to maximize the effects, I suggest you don't leave this room, though that is up to you. Not only that, but every day at morning, noon, and night either I or my subordinates will bring you food that you must eat, as it will aid you in your transformation. Any questions?" Kyo asked her six beady eyes focusing on Hiruko.

"Uh, yeah, Shiori said I could write a message to my family? Also, I was never told where my clothes were," Hiruko said, once again glancing down to his naked body except for web underwear.

"Also, can you tell me more about the merger? When exactly does it start? And what powers do I get exactly?" Hiruko added, now that the surprise, excitement, and disorientation that came from being summoned to a new world had worn off, he couldn't help but ask some important questions that had been gnawing at him throughout there walk.

It's not that he didn't trust Shiori, but he effectively only knew basic information about a process that would alter his very biology.

Kyo hearing this could only sigh, "There is a paper and pencil on your bed along with your mended clothes and other necessities. In about an hour one of my subordinates will come with lunch. It'll be then you can give him your note along with any other things from home you need." Kyo said before adding,

"As for things related to the merger, only the Queen and the Princess know its specifics, but I'll pass on to the Princess that you have questions for her; if she's not busy, she may be able to stop by. Is that satisfactory, inheritor?"

"Oh, um, yes, thank you, Kyo," Hiruko said, his etiquette training kicking in as he offered a polite bow.

"No problem, inheritor. Now, if you don't mind, I have matters to attend to," Kyo said as she turned toward the direction where she and Hikaru came from before stopping and adding, "Also, inheritor, please don't bow. I'm only a mere servant; you should treat me as such," Kyo added before scurrying off into the darkness of the cave.

As she left Hiroku couldn't help but think

'She reminds me so much of Chigiri,' as a smile formed on his face. 'I miss you guys already,' he added, turning to his door before twisting it open, the full expanse of the room entering his sight.

The room, about 15x15, was simple, with the walls the same cold stone as the outside cave; in the middle of the ceiling, a circular ball of light hung, illuminating the room.

Across from the stone door up against the wall stood a large king-size bed; the blankets were a deep grey. And on the bed, Hiruko's usual clothes, an oversized coat, simple shirt, and shorts, lay completely fine as if they weren't worn in a life-or-death battle. Beside them Miyuki lay sheathed.

"Miyuki!" Hiroku yelled excitedly as he rushed into the room, jumping his arms wide as he landed on the bed, hugging Miyuki as he rolled across the bed, nudging his cheeks across Miyuki's sheathed body.

After lovingly looking at his sword for a few moments, Hiruko sat up, his gaze on the bedside table beside his bed, on it a notepad and pencil.

Taking a deep breath, Hiruko picked up the notepad and pencil as he began to rack his brain on how to word his note and the things he'd need.

{ Dear Mom,

I don't know how to say this, but I'm alive!}

'No, are you stupid, Hiruko? You start it off with "I'm alive,"' Hiruko thought as he ripped the note from the pad, crumpled it up, and started on a new page.

{Dear Mom, This is Hiruko, your son.}

'What other Hiruko does she know, idiot?' Hiruko once again mentally berated himself, crumpling up this page and starting again.

'Okay, speak from the heart, Hiruko,' Hiruko thought, taking a deep breath.

A red-haired woman sat in the Senju compound, her eyes focused outside the window. She had a lost expression on her face, as her mind could only think about her son, who had been missing for a week now.

Suddenly her senses went off, alerting her to an unfamiliar presence in her home.

"Who are you? I'd suggest you leave; I am not in a good mood right now," the woman said sharply but if you listened close enough you could hear a slight melancholy in her tone.

However, contrary to what she thought, the presence continued walking toward her, not stopping for even a moment.

Whipping her head around, the woman angrily yelled, "I thought I—" but when seeing who it was, she stopped. In front of her, a spider the size of her hand stood, its shell a deep brown, its six beady eyes locked on the woman.

The spider, seeing the woman acknowledge its presence, brought out a paper from who knows where and sat it in front of the woman.

The woman seeing this looked at the spider in slight confusion, the spider returning her gaze simply motioned its head toward the note as if saying, 'Open it.'

Senseing no ill intentions, the woman picked the note up hesitantly, her eyes still watching the spider. Opening it, the woman began to read slowly.

{Hey Mom, forgive me that I didn't write this note in proper etiquette like you taught me. But hopefully the fact I'm alive can give me some leeway. Anyway, I have some news: I'll be gone for a while—a long while.

There's something I have to do in order to be able to protect you guys like I should be. And I know your probably thinking son I'll protect you or worrying but I need you to trust me I have to do this.

And don't worry, I'm safe, and I'll be back before you know it, and then well eat ramen together like I promised. And I'll try to write often, but I also need to focus to get strong to get better.

Please watch over Tsuna. I know she's probably beating herself up over this, but make sure she knows it's not her fault.

And please watch over Sakumo and Duy; those idiots will need it. Make sure Sakumo knows I'm alive and it's not his fault either. I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling.

But anyway as for Hyugga Ikki, he'll have to wait a bit longer to see me; have him stay with Duy and tell Duy to train him in basic taijutsu. And just know, Arata, Yuri, Tsuna, Chigiri, and Mom, I love and miss you guys, but I'll be back and much stronger. But mom I'll need some things from you...[insert a whole list of stuff].

Ps. Let Orochimaru know I'm alive and okay.

Sincerely, Hiruko, Happy birthday to me!}

As the red-haired woman finished reading the note, a single tear fell from her eyes, damping the paper. Her voice, slightly strained with emotions, called out to her trusty servant.

"Chigiri"

"Yes, my lady," a figure descended from the shadows, kneeling.

Tossing the figure the note, which Chigiri caught, Mito said, "All those items at the bottom of the list—gather them along with some sweet snacks, ones that will last someone a year and a half." Mito said in her tone, leaving no room for rebuttals, "Also call a family meeting including Hyuga Ikki, Might Duy, Naori Uchiha, Ken Hatake, and Orochimaru, and tell them I personally request them."

"Yes, my lady, anything else?" Chigiri said, her eyes glancing to the note, a small smile descending on her face. 'I'm glad to know you're okay, young master.'

"How's Sakumo Hatake doing?" Mito asked, her voice a little strained as she asked, remembering the bloody scene and the child she had grown to care for lying in a pile of blood.

Hearing her master's question, Chigiri struggled as she recalled the reports her emotionless mask cracking for a mere moment .

"It's not looking good, my lady; he lost a lot of blood. If not for his teammate, a Hyuga girl, performing emergency first aid that she had been secretly learning away from her clan, I'm afraid he would be dead." Chigiri explained.

"Sigh, this is my fault. I should have kept knowledge of the incident on strict confidentiality." Mito said solemnly.

"Don't blame yourself, mistress; you know how the Hatake or any samurai clan are—their heart, their honor, is their biggest weakness," Chigiri responded.

Mito,earing this, could only nod slightly as she remembered Ken Hatake planning to cut his own guts out to die with Hashirama.

"That Hyuga girl she did us a big favor... Bring me her file Chigiri" Mito comanded as Chigiri simply bowed as she left to fifil he duties
