Chapter 166 - Loki Arrives at the Battlefield

As a god, even with her power sealed, her perception remained.

However, the phenomenon of their departure didn't match any magic, skill, or talent in Loki's memory.

She was certain it wasn't an illusion or a trick of the eye.

This group was more special than she had imagined.

Shen He naturally knew that his method of leaving would arouse Loki's suspicion and speculation.

But since they were preparing to cooperate, some things would inevitably become difficult to hide. Moreover, Chaldea wasn't some kind of clandestine organization.

"They're back already?"

Erina wasn't quite used to the sudden change in her surroundings.

"That's right, this is what we do every day."

Shen He took the mountain of packages from Saiki's hands, which were all dog food.

Erina Nakiri recalled everything she'd encountered in the past hour.

It was only now that she belatedly realized she had gone to another world and even had a god from that world taste her cooking.

Meeting this group of people would indeed be the biggest turning point in her life.

"Erina." Shen He finished organizing the dog food and suddenly thought of something, "You heard the collaboration just now, what do you think? Try to develop some simple, easy-to-master, and delicious recipes."

"Okay." Erina Nakiri nodded.

That simple agreement caught Shen He off guard for a moment.

However, looking at his own chef's expression, he guessed the reason and couldn't help but chuckle.

As expected, even tsunderes had rules; once you were on the pirate ship, there was no escaping.

A few days later, Shen He went to the dungeon again, retrieving the materials that would allow the Servants to break through their level limits, as well as a large amount of ingredients.

The happiest person, naturally, was Erina Nakiri.

These were ingredients she had never seen before, many even having unique flavors and tastes. She immediately threw herself into creating new dishes with great enthusiasm.

It was believed that before long, she would shock everyone in her world.

However, Shen He didn't have time to wander around anymore.

Loki's arrival was getting closer, and he needed to be prepared. After all, this was a crucial moment that had been planned for quite some time. To this end, he and Jeanne temporarily moved back into the company's base housing to prevent any unexpected situations.

Even some agents who weren't privy to the core secrets could sense the impending storm.

Furthermore…

"Is everything arranged, Coulson?"

Shen He summoned Coulson to inquire about something he had specifically instructed.

"No problem, sir." Coulson nodded. "Once we give the signal, we'll create an opportunity for John Garrett and his disciple, Ward, to escape. However, HYDRA should also have information about us being able to control the others, so they might not gain their trust."

"It's just a side benefit," Shen He chuckled. "Garrett, as an elite agent, is getting old, but Ward is surpassing him. For HYDRA, which is currently suppressed, nothing is more important than powerful new blood."

This was a plan that Shen He had thought of on a whim.

Mainly, in the original plot, Agent Ward went through a series of blackening, redemption, blackening, and then redemption, which was amazing.

So, not eliminating those two from HYDRA initially was also with the plan of counter-infiltration.

After all, for such an organization that brainwashes with faith, perhaps only by getting involved from the inside can they be completely eliminated, or even controlled.

"There's another thing, Director." Phil Coulson suddenly said with a bit of helplessness, "Agent Hill's frequency of external communication has been increasing lately."

"Looks like our actions during this time have made her a bit nervous." Shen He shook his head.

If Coulson had already decided to join Chaldea, and Natasha was trying to find a path to salvation within Chaldea, then Agent Hill was still Nick Fury's die-hard loyalist.

"How's Dr. Banner doing lately?" Shen He ignored Agent Hill's little actions and instead inquired about the situation of the Hulk.

"Very good." Speaking of this, Coulson couldn't help but show his signature smile, "He's been immersed in scientific research, and the scientists around him don't know his situation. There's even a female scientist who's quite close to him. It seems Dr. Banner is enjoying his current life."

Originally, Coulson had opposed the suggestion of letting Dr. Bruce Banner join the research team incognito.

Because it was irresponsible for the safety of other members. Once Banner was provoked in daily life, a tragic sacrifice was almost foreseeable.

However, Shen He only said a simple sentence.

"I believe in Banner; he's not so easily provoked." Shen He repeated at this time, "And Hulk isn't difficult to communicate with; he's just an angry, unloved child."

Doubt and vigilance often only make the situation worse.

Shen He believed that even in his sleep, Hulk would be affected by Banner's emotions. Letting Banner live the life he wanted would, on the contrary, be more able to prevent Hulk's emergence.

"In short, you'll have to work hard for a while. Everything is at a critical juncture." Shen He stood up, ready to leave work.

"Happy to serve, sir." Coulson nodded slightly.

When Shen He returned to the company villa, night had completely fallen.

"Welcome back."

Jeanne came over to help him take off his coat, then brought out several heated dishes and placed them on the table.

Shiki Ryougi and Violet Evergarden also came out of their respective rooms at this time.

"You didn't have to wait for me."

Shen He sat in the main seat, looking at the three people in front of him, and felt a warm feeling in his heart.

He had been working late these past few days, and the others had finished eating early, but they waited for him every time.

"But the book says that family, family should eat together," Violet Evergarden was a little unsure if this was a command.

"Family," Shen He chuckled, and didn't say anything more.

Violet was already very reliant on him, but Shiki Ryougi waiting for him was somewhat surprising to Shen He. However, perhaps Shiki was just accompanying Violet, and didn't care much.

A few more days of slightly busy days passed.

Loki still hadn't appeared, but Shen He's accumulated Summoning Stones had reached two hundred.

He had finished clearing the instance dungeon early that day, just to see what new instance dungeon would appear after reaching two hundred Summoning Stones.

But the result...

Nothing.

"Why is there nothing?" Shen He was a little baffled.

Up until now, every time he accumulated fifty Summoning Stones, the system would undergo some changes, like new instances or event instances. But now, at two hundred Summoning Stones, nothing happened.

"Could it be because of our strength?" Jeanne speculated. "Now, the Master and our leveling speed have gradually slowed down, and the frequency of new instances opening has also decreased. Could this be the reason?"

"I don't know." Shen He shook his head.

The system didn't offer any explanations. It always presented unexpected situations, which, to be honest, made Shen He feel a bit uncertain.

If he couldn't feel that the contract between him and the Servants was directly established on their souls, it would feel really flimsy.

"If there's nothing, then there's nothing." In the end, Shen He set this aside for the time being. "Tomorrow, after we have thirty Summoning Stones, I'll summon from the Mechanical Lifeforms card pool thirty times in a row. Let's see if we can summon a decent Mechanical Lifeform Servant."

Because he'd done a single summon previously, he didn't have enough Summoning Stones yet, so he had to wait until tomorrow.

After all, they were going to deal with aliens, and some particularly powerful Mechanical Lifeforms might have a surprising effect.

In a secret base that very same night.

Everyone was efficiently and rapidly moving various equipment, props, and confidential documents.

"Attention all personnel, evacuate immediately, evacuate immediately. Attention all personnel."

The voice came directly from a helicopter, a command of the highest order, signaling an unforeseen crisis was approaching.

In reality, the most terrifying crisis was one you didn't even know existed.

"Fury, the military hasn't authorized your evacuation order."

A white man in a military uniform, with a hooked nose, strode into the confidential area. The soldiers beside him had already raised their weapons towards the man in the black suit.

"Colonel Albert," Fury turned around. "I don't need your authorization because I have the right to take full authority in special circumstances, and that time is now."

"Do you think you're still the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

Colonel Albert immediately drew his pistol and pressed it against Fury's head, while the agents behind Fury all drew their own guns.

Fury didn't speak, just stared at the military colonel sent to oversee him with his one eye.

Boom——

A sudden surge of energy pulse interrupted the conflict.

In the very center of the laboratory, a glowing, six-sided cube was radiating a blue aura.

"What's going on? Dr. Selvig." Colonel Albert holstered his pistol and cautiously retreated a few steps. "I must remind you, if there are any problems with the Tesseract, it will lead to the most severe charges in a military tribunal."

"If you could spare me those cumbersome, utterly useless review steps before I conduct my research, perhaps I could tell you what's happening." Dr. Selvig's words were tinged with obvious dissatisfaction. "As for now, I can only say that the energy within the Tesseract is more active than ever, and this is not something we did. Our progress, which is slower than a snail, is simply not capable of causing such a change."

Dr. Erik Selvig did have reason to be dissatisfied.

He had been invited by Fury to study the Tesseract, but was subjected to all sorts of restrictions from the military.

"Alright." Colonel Albert wasn't angry, and then looked at another woman in a white coat, "Ms. Foster, has your alien boyfriend told you anything?"

"Anything he said about the technology is in the notebooks you guys snatched," Jane naturally stood by her teacher, "You're even more detestable than SHIELD. You'd better pray that I don't see Thor again, or he'll blow up your tanks."

"Alright." Colonel Albert opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say something more.

But another strong energy pulse surged from the Tesseract, even stronger than before. Under the shocked gazes of everyone, the surging blue energy seemed to form a void like a singularity. After it burst open, two figures resembling humans appeared at the location of the singularity.

"Alert! Alert!" Colonel Albert shouted almost simultaneously.

But his shouting stopped abruptly because an energy pulse hit his body directly, melting him and his clothes instantly.

One of the figures was a woman with deep blue skin, holding a grotesquely shaped giant gun. There was no doubt that the attack had come from this weapon.

"Fire! Hawkeye!" Fury ran towards the Tesseract, which had calmed down.

At the same time, Hawkeye, who had been hiding in a high place, fired his arrow, but it was caught by the blue-skinned woman.

"Outdated weapons." She glanced disdainfully at the arrow's red glow.

Boom!

A close-range explosion engulfed the two.

"I finally understand why you're not as good as your sister." Loki stood up, gripping his staff. "Nebula, you will obey my orders. Now, kill them all. Wait, leave the little girl alive."

Loki had already spotted Jane trying to escape.

What a pleasant surprise. I didn't expect to run into that idiot brother's old flame here.

A halo of light shimmered from the staff, and Loki suddenly had a good plan.

The next day, Jeanne woke Shen He up early.

"Coulson seems to have something important," Jeanne climbed out of Shen He's arms and quickly got dressed with her back to him. "He seems very nervous, Master, hurry up too."

"It's only just after six," Shen He rubbed his eyes, a little dissatisfied.

If you counted it like that, he had only slept for less than three hours.

But in this special situation, it was indeed no time to be lazy. As Jeanne said, Coulson had already trotted towards the door, and there was another person in the living room.

Agent Hill.

"Something's happened with Fury, hasn't it?"

The first words out of Shen He's mouth put Coulson at ease.

"That's right." He nodded. "Agent Hill received an emergency distress signal from Fury half an hour ago. I've already dispatched a jet to the signal location to rescue the Director. Are we starting?"

"Yes, we are." Shen He exhaled deeply, then quickly adjusted his state. "Call Tony and Steve over. Everyone else, continue with your work as usual. Don't notify Black Bolt for now. Also, Jeanne, could you get some breakfast from the castle for me?"

The only thing that could have gone wrong with Fury was Loki's arrival.

This was something they had prepared for long ago, so Shen He wasn't too flustered. Just following the plan would be enough.
