Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: A Shift in Perspective Part 1–An entity’s life

Awake, that's how I would describe this feeling. It's as if I woke up from a deep slumber. An entity thought internally, this was the first thing it did upon being given sentience.

We all became aware after being given sentience, but that's something I learnt later on.

There are countless others like me all around. I know that they are like me because I have knowledge, I don't why I have this knowledge or where I got it, no…. I do know, because the very reason... is in front of me.

Every single one of us recognized that the being in front of us is superior to us. We couldn't even comprehend what it is that we were looking at.

"Hear me all of you—" The being's voice echoed.

I can hear a voice. I think it's called speech if I'm not mistaken. Now that i think about it, can I also... "...talk? It looks like I can. The others are also starting to discover things about themselves whilst talking to one another though, I'm satisfied being by myself."

At least, that's what I thought at the time but I ended up having unexpected company as another entity approached me.

—A while later—

"In the meantime, it seems that the others are beginning to gather around that being, we should also go there as well." He said talking to another entity. It was the same entity that approached him earlier.

The two of us left together to join the other entities.

"I am your creator, I am your reason for being, anything and everything about you is only ever possible because I permit it to be. Understand this and know your place if you ever wish to continue your existence. My will is absolute, nothing and no one can defy it." the being declared, Should I speak with them more casually or keep the current tone? I'll just do whatever feels natural to me at the time. IT thought after giving the speech.

IT didn't intend for the speech to come off the way it did but it couldn't be helped, as it was already over at that point. The fact of the matter is that it could be helped however, there would be no point in wasting effort to change such a trivial thing.

The overwhelming pressure released from those mere words was more than enough to make all of us feel a mixture of emotion. I for one, felt admiration above all else.

It makes sense that he's presence is this overwhelming, I'm at an awe at he's magnificence. To think I would have the honour of being created by such a being.

He told us about how he created us and why he created us in the first place. Thankfully, we were all able to understand and accept our reason for being with ease.

"She's amazing, don't you think so too?" the other entity asked in a cheery tone.

"What do you mean she?" he asked, Wait, he? She? What does any of it mean? It's knowledge we have but I cannot understand what it means. he struggled with himself.

At that time, we didn't fully understand the concept of gender as a means to differentiate between ourselves. One of the people among us eventually understood this and told us about it.

"Obviously we can't simply regard its magnificence as a he or a she. Even if I don't fully understand what it means yet, that much is clear isn't it?" she clarified.

"I must admit you're right about that. However, we also need a way to accurately describe it while making it clear just how magnificent it is." he added on.

"What are you thinking?" she wondered.

"I was thinking something like…."

As the very being that created all of them, a suitable title to refer to IT by was needed–no, it was necessary. The title needed to reflect the position the being held–much like a king or a president.

A description that perfectly embodies this being as well as its power. he thought.

Just as he was thinking, he was interrupted by something that was occurring in that moment.

"It seems like we'll finish this conversation later, something more important is occurring." he said as he and his companion were approaching where the others were.

The being spoke once more.

"Head me all of you! I will now give you all names—" IT declared.

It seems that we'll all receive names to better increase our individuality, at least that's what it looks like.

To be given a name by such a being, truly an honour. he thought to himself with reverence.

All of us lined up to receive names. This was because our colours alone were no longer sufficient to differentiate between us anymore as there were those who looked similar to others even if only a little. Our names were derived from our respective colours.

"You will be Lime." IT said.

Lime, that is my name, one that I will forever etch into my being. "I am eternally grateful to receive such a wonderful gift." his thoughts were as sincere as his words.

After receiving the gift that is our names, we all just went back to talking amongst ourselves until…

"It looks like you lot are having fun here." A being approached.

It was the same being that spoke to them before.

When I heard that voice, I couldn't help but be startled. After all, I knew very well the owner of that voice.

"We were just so grateful that we were given our own names but at the same time, we could not help but notice that you yourself do not have a name of your own. So, we were actually thinking about—" she was cut off before she could continue speaking.

"Please forgive Magenta, she is just very talkative and sometimes forgets how to behave appropriately." Lime explained.

"Don't worry about such trivial matters. More importantly, I notice that you have accustomed yourselves with genders?" IT asked with genuine interest in its tone.

"Yes, at first we did not understand what it meant, but we gradually understood that it is another way to distinguish ourselves from one another." Though, it was Rosé who figured that out and told us about it.

"Indeed, you're correct though, I myself do not have one specific gender, so feel free to use whichever one best suit your interests" IT spoke in a gentle voice.

"I knew it! I told you guys, didn't I?" Magenta voiced with excitement.

Aside from Lime and Magenta, there were other entities around as well. Their friends, Crimson, Azure and Silver were also present.

"Please calm down." Lime said to Magenta.

"Yes, thank you we will." Azure spoke, trying to shift the conversation away from Magenta.

"It will be our outmost pleasure to do so." Silver noticed this and spoke up as well.

We were all overjoyed with excitement at those words, so much so that we could barely hide it. Magenta was being her usual self but, it seems like she wasn't causing any problems so I decided to just overlook her behaviour this time.

In fact, her personality may be the driving force enabling us to speak with our creator in this manner, like her mere presence dissolves the tension before it's even there.

To think that we would be talking with our creator in a light-hearted conversation like this, truly an honour. It's all thanks to Magenta and her extroverted behaviour. Who knew that her unique personality would actually help me out like this. I guess I'll have to thank her somehow.

Lime thought while staring at Magenta. This made her figget restlessly upon noticing him.

"Alright then. By the way you were saying something about giving me a name?" I thought of giving myself a name but changed my mind because it was not necessary at the time, since I was still creating them and was alone. Now that I can talk with them, it makes sense to have something they can use to refer to me by.

"We would not dare to give a magnificent being such as you a name borne from our lowly inferior minds however, I must confess that we were hoping to give you one that perfectly describes what you are, so I gathered the other here with me to brainstorm such a title. Forgive us for being disrespectful." I hope that we didn't anger him, things were going so well before.

It felt as though my very being was trembling, not because of the pressure he exudes but because of the fear of being hated by him. The feeling that he would see me as a nuisance unfit to live.

However, I will gladly take any punishment given to me in order to atone for my sin.

Lime felt that he had disrespected the being in front of him by making an unneeded assumption. This led him to struggle with his emotions for quite a moment.

"Not at all. In fact, I would like to hear this title that you came up with." I'm curious as to what they thought of. It should make it easier for all of them to refer to me by one thing so, I don't mind at all.

Those words brought a wave of relief for Lime.

Yet another thing to be grateful for. Lime thought internally.

"Actually, it was Lime who eventually thought of the title and the rest of us agreed to it because we thought it was very fitting." Azure said in a calm manner.

Lime turned to look at her in shock.

Azure was not spiteful towards Lime. In fact, one might say that she respected Lime the most out of the rest of their friend group. She just wanted the being that Lime absolutely admires to acknowledge him, even if only a little.

I didn't think that Azure would just reveal that part outright. It's making me nervous. What if he doesn't like it? Or thinks that it's stupid or that it's beneath him or something far worse than any of those. Would I get punished? and how? But, then again, what if he does like it? What would that mean? How would he respond? Would I get rewarded instead? My mind can't focus properly.

I was so nervous that I could barely think straight. My mind was flooded with all sorts of both good and bad thoughts. I was even questioning my sanity at one point–which was silly, now that I think about it.

"Well, then let's hear it." The being said with a calm and gentle tone.

This was to ease Lime's tension so that he could speak more comfortably.

"The title I came up with is…. The Absolute Being." I can't believe I said it to him. I'm so nervous that I might just cease to exist.

However, when I looked over at the others, I realized that I wasn't the only one who was nervous. Azure, Silver and Crimson were just as nervous as I was. Even the usual energetic Magenta was restless, perhaps because the entire conversation was brought up by her in the first place.

Maybe she felt like she would get punished of things didn't go well. If that's the case, I'll try to negotiate and take her punishment for myself. Lime had resolved himself.

We all couldn't help but feel how tense the atmosphere around us felt in that moment. One thing was clear, every single one of us were both afraid and excited to hear the response.

The moment passed by almost instantly, but Lime could've sworn that it felt like an eternity–not like there was actual time to pass in the first place.

"I like it, truly a fitting name. Thank you, Lime. I will cherish this gift." T.A.B thanked sincerely.

Henceforth, IT was dubbed The Absolute Being or T.A.B.

Lime spoke instinctively.

"There is no need for you to thank me. I'm just grateful that you liked it." his tone was both nervous and grateful.

Lime actually processed the T.A.B's response right after he himself had responded. He was so internally conflicted that his mind took longer than usual to process the information, so he instinctively came up with a response even before his mind thought of the right answer to use.

I can't believe this is actually happening. I'm so ecstatic that I can barely control myself. Lime thought to himself barely hiding his excitement.

"Henceforth you will all refer to me as The Absolute Being!" IT said with an assertive tone to everyone,The name itself doesn't perfectly reflect what I am, but to be fair no word does. That said, it is still a fitting name for me because they are the ones that came up with it. To them, that name represents how they see me, which is reason enough for me to accept the name.

The cheers of everyone were echoing across the endless void as they were happy to be able to give a name to the being who gave them life, and I was the proudest among my fellow kind.

Up until that point, all the entities would refer to the being using any grand name they could think of. Such examples include but is not limited to: The Grand One, Magesty, Great Ruler, The First, Unique and many more.

Now they would be able to use one name when referring to it. However there were those who were permitted to use the names they were already using before IT took on the name T.A.B.

"You can all thank Lime as he was the one who came up with the name." T.A.B spoke once more, I decided it was best to acknowledge Lime and have him be known as the one who came up with the name.

There was no special reason for T.A.B to do this. It was just something that could be done so, why not?–is how T.A.B thought when doing it.

"Congrats Lime." Said Magenta, "I'm glad you finally got recognition, your loyalty and devotion to T.A.B was always greater than anything I have ever seen from anyone else." her voice was soft, and tone sincere.

"He's right, congratulations Lime." Being acknowledged byT.A.B, I'm so jealous. Crimson added on, hiding his true feelings.

Crimson had always wanted to be better than Lime, more especially to prove and show off the fact to Magenta–for he's personal reasons, but he never succeeded. This was because Lime didn't even think of competing over something with anyone in the first place. Thus, this remained as Crimson's one sided obsession to prove who is superior to the other. And of course, he never got one over Lime, not even once.

"You did good Lime." Silver was easy-going and was almost never too enthusiastic about things.

"I'm so happy for you Lime." Said Azure as she also thought of strengthening her resolve, Though, I also wish I could be acknowledged. No, this just means that I also need to work harder as well.

"Thanks a lot guys. It means a lot to me." To be acknowledged byT.A.B, truly an honour I never thought I would experience.

"Alright then, continue with whatever it is you were doing. As for you guys, it was nice talking with you, but I have to leave now." T.A.B expressed.

"Of course. Please do not let us hold you." Azure said.

"Yes, we understand." Magenta added.

"Thank you for taking your precious time and spend it with us." Lime said, excitement still present in his tone.

"Think nothing of it."

As soon as he appeared, he also disappeared in the same manner though, it wasn't sadness that I felt, it was a feeling mere words couldn't even begin to describe.

The feeling I felt was far more than I initially thought I would feel, maybe because of the fact that what I had accomplished was far greater than what I thought I initially would or rather, what I initially wanted to accomplish.

My only goal was to speak with him at least once, the conversation or how long it took didn't matter to me. Not only did I have a full conversation with him, I was also given the opportunity and the honour of giving him a name, one that I alone thought of, one that came from my mind.

At this point my life was fulfilled but, I shall continue to exist so that I can live up to the expectations of the being that created me. That is the only way for me, as well as everyone else to show our gratitude for being given our lives.

"I know I've said this before but thank you, truly. If it weren't for you guys, I would have never achieved my dream of speaking to T.A.B much less be the one to give him a name." Lime voiced with the most sincere tone he could master.

"Don't worry about it, we are friends after all."

"That's right."

"Yeah, there's no need to make a big deal about it."

Azure, Crimson, and Silver voiced their own thoughts as well.

"I guess you're right but, I can't help but feel grateful to you guys."

"We are also grateful to be your friends as well." I'm more grateful than the others will ever be though, I don't think my feelings will ever reach you. Magenta thought with a slight disappointment.

Whether she was actually disappointed at Lime or perhaps even herself, was unclear.

I felt her words to be more sincere than the rest of my friends and for some reason, I felt something I've never felt before—No, I have felt this before. The day she and I met for the first time.

I can't help but wonder about what it is that I felt just now. Even back then, I never truly understood it or perhaps I never tried to.
