The King of One Highsool Hero

Chapter 10 — When the Game Turns Deadly

Ryan and Jun walked side by side down the street, backpacks hanging loose, footsteps calm like any other day.

Jun glanced at the sky, then at Ryan.

"Hey… you don't feel like something big is about to happen?"

Ryan didn't slow down. His hands stayed in his pockets.

"No."

Jun squinted at him. "You always say that before chaos."

Ryan shrugged. "Then stop worrying."

High above the city, on top of a towering building, the air felt heavy.

The Union headquarters.

A massive table sat in the center of the room. Behind it stood men who ruled the streets without ever touching them.

At the front walked Li Fong, the Union President—mid-50s, sharp eyes, calm voice that terrified everyone more than shouting ever could. Beside him stood a giant of a man on his left, and another man in his late 40s on his right, both silent, both dangerous.

At the far end, Gwan Nin waited.

He bowed deeply.

"Mister President… welcome."

Li Fong didn't respond. He lit a cigarette, took one drag, then flicked it to the floor and crushed it with his shoe.

"How many damn chances did I give you, Gwan Nin?" Li Fong said coldly.

"What is so difficult about taking control of this city?"

Gwan Nin lowered his head.

"They're just children," Li Fong continued. "Do you really think children can mess with me?"

"No, sir," Gwan Nin said quickly. "It's just… those two kids. They're talented. Skilled. Experienced. They keep beating our men."

SLAP.

The sound echoed.

Li Fong's hand dropped as Gwan Nin staggered, face burning.

"You think I care?" Li Fong snapped. "You think I care who does the job? Look at this mess—the police, the FBI getting involved."

He leaned close.

"I give you six months. If this isn't done… I'll kill you myself."

Li Fong turned and walked away.

Gwan Nin stayed frozen, eyes wide, dry, shaking—but no tears fell.

As he straightened, his voice turned ice-cold.

"Find a way to kill them," he muttered.

"…or I'll do it myself."

Later that day.

Ryan and Jun were walking again, laughing about nothing—until a car sped past them.

Ryan stopped instantly.

"Jun—!"

The car window rolled down.

BANG.

A bullet tore through the air.

Ryan grabbed Jun and threw him into a narrow hallway between buildings as another shot cracked against the wall.

Jun slammed into the ground.

"SHIT—what the fuck is going on?!"

Ryan peeked out.

The car door opened.

Fing stepped out, gun in hand.

Ryan turned sharply.

"Jun. Don't stay here. Run. They've got guns."

They bolted.

Footsteps echoed. Engines roared.

Motorcycles chased them.

They climbed a wall, slipped down the other side, sprinting as bullets snapped past—

FWOOOSH.

An arrow flew from nowhere, piercing a motorcycle's wheel.

The bike flipped, crashed, and burst into flames.

Ryan looked ahead.

Two figures stood by a car.

Nia.

And beside her, a tall Black girl in black leather—Lisa—grinning.

"Miss me?" Lisa said.

Ryan blinked once, then smiled.

"I'll never stop loving you girls."

"HELP US, DAMN IT!" Jun yelled.

They piled into the car.

Lisa slammed the gas.

Behind them, Fing screamed in rage.

"FOLLOW THEM! KILL THEM!"

Motorcycles surged forward.

Ryan leaned toward Lisa.

"Please drive well."

Lisa smirked. "Always."

Nia reached under her seat.

"I've got two guns."

Jun swallowed hard and grabbed one.

Ryan took the other and rolled down the window.

Jun looked at him, panicked.

"We're gonna get in serious trouble—"

Ryan cut him off.

"Don't tell me."

A gunshot exploded into the night—

BANG.
