Chapter 102 - Mutual Harm

Satou Matsuzaka used magic near the elf village to summon the lowest-level undead, building an altar required to activate ritual magic.

When one's magic power was strong enough, there was no need for an altar—any spell could be cast freely.

But when magic power was insufficient, an altar was needed to amplify or store magic, raise the upper limit, and enable higher-tier spells.

Satou Matsuzaka privately met with the Spring Elfin in a small grove, telling her about her plan to create a super bone dragon and hoping to get her help.

"How do you want me to help you?"

The Spring Elfin asked. This exam had disabled the old system where magic could be used without learning it. Now, every spell they used had to be something they had actually studied.

At the very least, they needed a fairly deep impression of it.

After all, magic was a will-based power.

As long as you believed you could use magic and that magic would work, even if you remembered the spell formulas incorrectly, you could still cast it.

At worst, mistakes would just cause higher magic consumption and reduced power.

It was roughly the difference between optimized and unoptimized code.

"I need magic power. Help me recharge it."

Satou Matsuzaka said.

"Recharge magic power? You want me to help you make those potions you drink to restore magic? But I've never studied alchemy!"

The Spring Elfin had never touched that field of knowledge. In her understanding, magic power was an energy that came from nothing and could recover on its own.

If you wanted to quickly replenish magic power, you could only drink blue potions.

"Recharging magic power doesn't need to be that troublesome. I'll teach you a simple method."

"This is knowledge the academy won't teach."

Satou Matsuzaka walked up to the Spring Elfin and, under her stunned gaze, conducted a five-minute magic-recharging lesson.

The Spring Elfin held a finger to her lips, remaining dazed for a long time.

So magic power could be recharged like this too?

After finishing the recharge, Satou Matsuzaka continued strengthening the Bone King, stacking various buffs, engraving runes and magic arrays onto its bones.

Whenever her magic power ran low, she would look for the Spring Elfin or Rita.

When Rita was asked to help, just like the Spring Elfin, she was summoned alone and still hadn't reacted yet.

Satou Matsuzaka thus had a stable source of magic recharging, pouring her energy and magic into the bone dragon every day.

As for Durandal, she gave Satou Matsuzaka a feeling similar to little Griseo, creating a strange sensation.

So she never asked Durandal about recharging magic power.

After spending some time reinforcing the bone dragon from head to toe, Satou Matsuzaka rode it to the Empire, took a large amount of metal, forged it into dragon-shaped armor plating, and equipped it onto the bone dragon.

Finally, she added various amplification buffs and weight-reduction spells onto the armor.

A super bone dragon was complete.

Aside from its low output, its defense and speed had reached the limits of what she could achieve at her current stage.

...

Magic Faction Chat Channel.

Angelina: "Time to switch shifts. Who's guarding the gate next?"

Satou Matsuzaka: "I'll do it."

Angelina: "Your bone dragon is finished?"

Satou Matsuzaka: "Mm."

Angelina: "Good. Then we'll watch you perform."

Angelina: "The humans from that world keep disturbing Wendy and me while we sleep. So annoying."

Wendy: "Don't say things like that here! You'll make people misunderstand!"

Originally, no one thought there was anything wrong with Angelina's comment.

But Wendy's reaction made everyone feel there was something suspicious between the two of them.

Tina: "I like sleeping."

Chisaki Natsuya: "Did you push her?"

Angelina: "What are you thinking, you perverted loli!"

Chisaki Natsuya: "So you didn't?"

Angelina: "No."

Chisaki Natsuya: "Boring. It's not even your real body. As long as you don't go for the opposite sex, you can play harder."

Angelina: "Saying that, you're pretty bold, huh!"

Chisaki Natsuya: "I'm super bold, okay?"

Angelina: "Fine. I'm coming to find you."

Chisaki Natsuya: "Come on! You think I'm scared of you?"

Rita: "Is she always like this?"

Tina: "You mean Natsuya? She's a Fusion Child from our world with dolphin factors. Her IQ is high, but if you know dolphins, you know they're very lustful."

Tina: "Natsuya inherited that trait too—just like how my owl factor makes me sleepy during the day."

Rita: "I see."

Tina: "She's coming to cause trouble for me."

Satou Matsuzaka: "Angelina, I'm on my way. You can pull back."

Angelina: "Be careful. The humans from that world have been investigating and collecting intelligence on us."

Angelina: "My covertly controlled pawns also found that they bought special devices from a tech company—devices that can protect electronic equipment from our barrier's interference."

Chisaki Natsuya: "They developed countermeasures against our barrier that fast?"

Chisaki Natsuya: "Those people got involved, didn't they?"

Angelina: "Probably. I also discovered that the humans over there secretly transported three nuclear warheads into our world."

Chisaki Natsuya: "Not just nukes. In the areas I control, a lot of people secretly carrying firearms have appeared. They're humans and demi-humans from this magic world."

Chisaki Natsuya: "We can ignore ordinary firearms, but civilians can't."

Chisaki Natsuya: "The higher-ups of that world probably want to use the people here who hate us to create internal chaos."

Susannah: "There have been frequent shootings in my area recently. I'm too busy reviving people."

Chisaki Natsuya: "No need to waste power reviving units with little value. If you save them, they'll probably just die again later. Better to wait until it's over and let a god reset the world."

Susannah: "That may be true, but I can't just watch people die!"

Chisaki Natsuya: "Whatever. I've prepared a secret weapon on my side."

Chisaki Natsuya: "Satou Matsuzaka, can you open shared perception? I want the bone dragon's viewpoint."

Tina: "Didn't expect you to use shared perception for something serious."

Satou Matsuzaka: "Sure. If you want to watch, then watch."

Everyone entered the bone dragon's first-person perspective.

The bone dragon flew at ultra-high speed, piercing through the clouds.

Reaching high altitude, it looked down upon the land, everything in full view.

...

The otherworld gate.

After equipping devices that could resist the barrier's effects, the modern armies launched a fierce attack on the monster garrison guarding the gate.

They also fired a hypersonic missile armed with a nuclear warhead at a newly built magical fortress near Angelina and Wendy.

The nuclear blast instantly wiped out the death knights inside.

Originally, death knights had a passive ability that forcibly locked their HP at one point, but the nuclear explosion was followed by continuous radiation damage, making the HP lock useless.

The reason the human leadership eliminated the death knights was also based on their investigation.

These undead monsters would transform the people they killed into zombie-like creatures, and those zombies would in turn transform others they killed.

If they reached densely populated major cities with no one to stop them, they could snowball endlessly and create a zombie crisis.

As for the angel-like armored monsters, as long as special metal warheads were used, they could be killed within ten shots. Their threat was far lower than that of the undead.

Using a nuclear weapon had another purpose as well—it was the ingrained mindset of modern nations, showing off their strength to the enemy.

They believed the reason the otherworld goddesses refused to sit down and negotiate was because they looked down on their power.

A single goddess being able to solo ten thousand elite modern soldiers had indeed shocked them.

But what allowed them to rule the world was never individual strength.

It was time to let those backwater otherworlders see the most powerful weapon of their world.

Watching the distant mushroom cloud slowly rise, Angelina felt no emotional fluctuation—she even felt like laughing.

"Little Sister Wendy, let's go." Angelina wrapped an arm around Wendy. "Let's find a place and I'll give you a massage to help you relax."

"Mm."

Wendy, held in Angelina's arms, was already used to being hugged like this.

Between girls, if your relationship was good, holding hands and hugging was normal, right?

Lots of girls in the academy city were like this.

Wendy didn't doubt that there were girls who liked girls, but it couldn't possibly be all of them, right?

Angelina and Wendy left without appearing to stop the modern army, and the human leadership of various nations laughed.

So-called goddesses!

They were nothing more than creatures with some power.

Faced with a nuclear weapon, didn't they still flee in panic?

The human leadership had already begun fantasizing about the scene of the goddesses submitting before them.

They greatly desired the goddesses' power.

Eternal life, reviving the dead, instantly making plants grow and bear fruit, summoning monsters, flight, telekinesis—countless miraculous and powerful abilities.

The modern army, under the banner of helping the Empire's crown prince reclaim the throne, captured imperial towns and dispersed soldiers to garrison them.

They waited for the goddesses to come seek negotiations.

They stationed troops in the towns because they feared another sudden goddess attack—and with large numbers of civilians present, they could serve as human shields.

Surely the goddesses wouldn't be so insane as to ignore everything and slaughter them all, right?

It was a good plan.

Unfortunately, they had chosen the wrong opponent.

The bone dragon ignored the modern troops occupying the towns and flew overhead.

Seeing the direction the bone dragon flew, Itami and the others in the town instantly understood where it was going.

The otherworld gate.

The elites and leaders of the modern nations weren't fools. They might deliberately play dumb for profit, but deep down they understood many things better than anyone.

Fighter jets took off, missiles were launched, anti-aircraft guns fired, and air defense systems went all out to intercept the dragon heading toward their world.

The bone dragon, its entire body covered in black armor, suffered the fiercest attacks from the modern army at the otherworld gate.

In modern understanding, as long as something was carbon-based life, it was impossible to emerge unscathed from modern firepower.

In midair, the bone dragon directly smashed ascending weaponized helicopters and fighter jets with its body.

With a top speed reaching Mach 3, extreme maneuverability, and indestructible defense, it became the ruler of the skies.

After circling once, it located the densest concentration of firepower below and dove straight down. Just the wind it kicked up swept modern soldiers and their weapons into the air.

After clearing out the little pests near the gate, the bone dragon flew into the gate, passed through the corridor, and entered the modern technological world.

The Far East government was thrown into panic.

The exit of the gate was their Tokyo!

Asia's largest city.

Tens of millions of people.

The bone dragon didn't care what humans thought and began executing its mission to destroy this world.

Rampaging through the city, skyscrapers crumbled like building blocks before it.

Pedestrians on the streets instinctively stopped to watch at first, but upon seeing skyscrapers smashed and collapsing, they screamed and scattered in terror.

"Run!"

"Get away, the dragon's here!"

"I told you we should've blown up that gate long ago—now the dragon's out!"

...

As it flew, the bone dragon spewed blue flames onto the streets. Those who couldn't escape in time were ignited by the blue fire and transformed into undead.

In an instant, the entire city seemed to welcome the end of the world.

The undead acted on instinct, killing the living and turning them into new undead.

Aircraft carrier fleets waiting in nearby seas and military bases in the vicinity all received attack orders, and fighter jets scrambled into the air.

Ignoring the modern firepower striking its body, the bone dragon continued wreaking havoc throughout the city.

Only after fighting for quite some time did the military realize that the dragon was surrounded by a distorted force field that deflected their attacks.

The undead created from human deaths also caused massive trouble for the military.

Low-level undead zombies couldn't withstand many bullets, but there were too many of them!

A megacity with tens of millions of people meant the potential for tens of millions of zombies.

And if the dragon wasn't killed, more zombies would continue to appear.

Sealing off areas could suppress the zombies.

But they couldn't seal off this dragon.

As long as it flew elsewhere and breathed another burst of fire, it would create another horde of zombies.

Everyone had realized it.

This dragon was a terrifying weapon capable of destroying the world.

If it escaped the Far East and spewed fire over major cities worldwide, their countries would be overrun by zombies.

The Far East government and other nations ordered their departments for countermeasures against otherworld biological disasters to research this otherworldly giant dragon's weaknesses.

...

Far East Government.

The Far East Prime Minister glanced at the expensive watch on his wrist, looked at the many researchers pacing about and constantly analyzing data, and asked, "Thirty-seven minutes already. You still haven't found this monster's weakness?"

The researchers were speechless. You know it's only been thirty-seven minutes, right?

One researcher said, "Prime Minister, we can now confirm one thing."

The Far East Prime Minister's expression lit up. "Say it. What is it?"

The researcher opened the file in his hands. "This dragon from the other world is not a normal organism. It doesn't need to breathe and has no biological body temperature. Combined with its ability to create zombies, we can be sure it's the same type as those otherworld undead monsters."

The researcher paused. "So this is an undead dragon from another world. Using holy water and the like might have an effect."

The Far East Prime Minister's face stiffened. He raised his hand and slapped the researcher across the face, roaring, "Are you a pig-brain? The Church's holy water was tested long ago! I even remember it didn't work, and now you're telling me it might be effective?"

The beaten researcher covered his face and lowered his head.

The Far East Prime Minister stood with his hands on his hips, thinking hard.

This dragon was definitely connected to the otherworld goddesses.

They had just thrown a nuclear bomb into the other world, and the other world immediately sent them a dragon in return.
