Chapter 156: Kushina's Fury, and Konoha Ninjas on the Verge of Breakthrough
The chakra Kushina left in Naruto before she died was still slumbering.
According to the original plot, it wouldn't activate until Naruto went to Genbu (Turtle Island) to obtain the Nine-Tails' power, at which point she would reunite with him. The current Kushina still had no way of knowing Naruto's recent situation.
Alex was curious about her reaction if she learned about Naruto's upbringing.
He immediately wove the content he had seen before into a series of images and transmitted them into Kushina's mind using the Yamanaka Clan's Secret Technique.
Images of little Naruto eating expired instant noodles and drinking expired milk. Scenes of sand being mixed into his lunchbox, walking down the street being loathed and cursed by all the villagers, and so on.
Kushina's eyes instantly widened. She covered her mouth, making "woo-woo" sounds as two streams of hot tears flowed from the corners of her eyes.
"Naruto..."
The images of Naruto being bullied from childhood to adulthood were clearly visible in her mind. Playing like a slideshow.
"Demon Fox!" "Unwanted wild child!" "Annoying brat with no parents!" "Why don't you just die, you calamity!"
The villagers' curses against little Naruto seemed to ring in Kushina's ears. That endless hatred and malice were even more terrifying and hopeless than what she had faced in her own youth, unbearable.
But her child had endured so much from such a young age; the pain and grievances were unimaginable.
"Naruto... I'm sorry... Mom is sorry for letting you suffer such abuse from a young age..."
Kushina slumped to the ground, crying and apologizing profusely. As the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, she could somewhat understand others' fear and discrimination against her. But he should absolutely not be treated as an enemy or a calamity, to be cursed and hated like this.
Naruto started feeling the malice of the entire world from such a young age; how did he survive...
He should have been treated as the son of a hero; why did it turn out like this...
She and Minato died for Konoha; they were Konoha's heroes. Naruto, as the child of heroes, suffered such unfair treatment. Kushina simply couldn't bear it and was on the verge of breaking down.
The people she trusted and entrusted betrayed her and Minato. Not only did they fail to take good care of Naruto, but they completely ignored him, failing to provide even the most basic protection and supplies.
She couldn't accept it.
"Konoha!" Kushina whispered through gritted teeth, filled with fury.
She wasn't originally from Konoha and didn't have much affection for the place. If not for Minato, she wouldn't have sacrificed her life to protect this village. But she never expected that in exchange, the entire village would persecute her child.
As for the Third Hokage and Jiraiya...
Hmph... When she was alive, she got along well with them and thought they were elders worthy of respect and trust. But after her death, they revealed their true colors—cold and heartless, not treating Naruto as the son of a hero at all.
She didn't hate Jiraiya that much. She just considered it misplaced trust; this so-called teacher of Minato indeed had no obligation to take good care of Naruto. In the future, they would be strangers.
As for the Third Hokage...
This guy was an old conspirator drunk on power. Kushina knew very well why, as Hokage, he allowed Naruto to be persecuted like this. Everything was just to make Naruto genuinely rely on him from a young age. Everyone bullied Naruto; only he offered comfort and supplies whenever Naruto was sad or upset.
Being the only "good person" in the entire village made Naruto feel from the bottom of his heart that he was a good person, a family member. His body and mind would submit to him. Through this method, he kept the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki firmly in his own hands.
The Third Hokage's actions made Kushina feel sick and burn with rage. She regretted it deeply. This village wasn't worth her and Minato sacrificing their lives to protect.
"Konoha!!!"
She stood up, her anger exploding. Her long red hair floated up behind her.
Whoa... truly the Red Hot Habanero.
Alex observed the aura Kushina was erupting with right now. Unfortunately, limited by the initial version of Impure World Reincarnation, her Kage-level strength from when she was alive could only be exerted to the level of an elite Chunin or special Jonin.
Kushina suppressed her anger and looked at Konan. "Although I don't know who you are, thank you for reviving me and telling me about Naruto's experiences. I don't know your purpose, but I'm leaving now. I'm going to see Naruto and take him far away from that disgusting village!"
Saying that, she walked forward. But her body wouldn't obey; she couldn't move her legs.
"Hmm?" Kushina was bewildered. "Why can't I move? Is it you?"
She glared at Konan. "Let me leave quickly. I have things I must do."
"Naruto is still waiting for me!!"
Alex shook his head. "Naruto just saved Konoha a while ago. He already considers Konoha his home that must be protected. Even you, his biological mother, probably can't make him leave with you."
He thought of the scene in the original work where Naruto met Kushina's chakra. The Kushina at that time didn't seem this indignant or furious. Was it because she hadn't learned about Naruto's childhood experiences? Or was it that even if she knew, with only a bit of chakra left, she couldn't do anything and could only choose to play dumb and pretend not to know?
Alex transmitted the images of Naruto fighting Pain to her as well.
"Naruto..." Kushina finished watching quickly, unable to accept it. "You silly child, Konoha persecuted you so much, why fight to the death for them? You possess such powerful strength, yet instead of taking revenge, you protect Konoha..."
She completely couldn't understand how Naruto, who suffered darkness and persecution from childhood, could pretend nothing happened. Not to mention turning dark and seeking revenge, at least he should have stood by and watched coldly when Konoha was in crisis. Why fight to the death regardless of his own life...
It wasn't just Kushina who didn't understand. Even Konan, after learning about Naruto's experiences, couldn't understand. This wasn't a choice a normal person would make...
Was the Third Hokage's "Will of Fire" brainwashing really that powerful? Or was Asura's chakra at work...
Kushina wiped her tears and pleaded, "I still want to go to Konoha. To see Naruto, to see my child. I want to ask him, has he really let go of the persecution he suffered before? Does he really not care at all?"
"I also want to teach the Third Hokage a harsh lesson, and those villagers who bullied Naruto—I won't let a single one off!"
Anyway, she couldn't let it go; it was absolutely impossible for her to let it go. She and Minato fought desperately to protect Konoha, and in the end, even their inheritance was stolen, leaving Naruto with only a pittance every month. Not enough to eat, not enough to wear, bullied by others—it was simply beastly behavior.
Alex shook his head internally. With Kushina's current strength, she would probably be restrained by Konoha ninjas as soon as she went out, unable to do anything. Let alone persuading Naruto not to let go of past hatred and to take revenge; she might end up being persuaded by Naruto's "Talk No Jutsu" instead. Making her let go of the anger and hatred in her heart.
Perhaps that mother-son meeting in the original work was a result of these factors combined, which was why Kushina wasn't as angry as she was now.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Just then, huge rumbles and vibrations came from above.
Konan looked at the ceiling, where dust was falling. "It seems Konoha has discovered something wrong with the Root and is forcibly breaking through the ice wall outside to come in."
"Alex?"
"Konoha? Root?" Kushina's eyes widened. "This is—"
Before she could finish speaking, Alex immediately made her consciousness go dormant and stored her into the Storage White Paper. An Edo body didn't need to breathe, equivalent to storing a corpse. With the Edo Tensei experiment complete, a Kushina with this little strength didn't have much value for now; better to store her away.
He flew to Konan's side. "Senju bloodline acquired. Only the Hyuga remains. It's time to go up and meet them to collect the final Bloodline Limit."
