Chapter 4 - New Piece Untold

Chapter 4

Catherine's POV

"Xandon" I whispered again as he took the chair beside me and sat down. I felt the closeness of his body and although our skin wasn't touching, I felt my skin hot against the fabric of my hoodie.

"Catherine" His voice was low, but breathless. I bit my lips as I looked ahead, avoiding the intense gaze I felt from him.

"What do you want? Think you feel like talking to me?" I spat.

I fluttered my eyes closed, as I pressed my lips together. I told myself that I won't show how offended his message made me. To be cold, and unbothered.

But seeing how his eyes gave me such familiar intense gaze like he didn't just send such an obscure text, made something in me heat up.

"We need to talk" I nodded my head, and breathed out. I felt my eyes beginning to sting, as I fisted my hand.

"We need to talk?. Really? Did you think of that before you sent that text? You didn't even put in a single effort and now you want to talk?"

I shook my head and stood up. I pressed my lips tighter together as I felt it begin to quiver, and my eyes locked on his.

His eyes went low, and I saw him clench his jaw, but I was too offended to think he shared any sympathy and without another word, I walked away.

I ran to the restroom as I felt the tears that I had been fighting back break free. My heart felt like it was being pulled in different directions.

"Fuck you, Xandon. Fuck you" The sound of my sobs echoed through the restroom as my sobs increased and I felt my eyes getting weak.

After spending some time on the bathroom floor, I slowly stood up, my hands trailing the wall as I didn't even trust my own legs, and I stared at myself in the mirror.

My once bright clear eyes, now appeared red and fluffy, and my nose now a little flared.

I sniffed, turning on the tap and washing away the remnant of heartbreak that I couldn't share. After taking in some breaths and whispering some mantras, I slowly walked out the bathroom.

"Hello" I jumped at the sudden voice from behind me. I blinked severally and immediately the voice registered, my entire body felt hot.

Ignore, Catherine. Walk away.

Without sparing me another step away from him, I felt big warm hands envelope my wrist and sharp nails clawing into my veins.

"Ouch" I winced but my brain wasn't even in the room anymore.

I was used to this–a perculiar method he uses to prevent me from leaving when he wants to say something and i wasn't having it.

"Let me go, Xandon" I turned to him, glaring at him, as our eyes connected.

"Why? Because of the message I sent? I didn't mean that, and you know that"

Fuck.

His eyes softened and I felt my glare go with the wind. He took slow but steady steps closer to me, and I involuntarily felt myself draw closer to him.

"Let's talk" He whispered again, and I felt the heat of his body on my skin. I looked at the guy before me and the same guy that I had lost myself in, was the one I saw.

Not the one that sent that text.

"Fine. What do you want to say?" His nails dug deeper into my skin, as his eyes stared directly into my soul. I bit my lips, holding his stare, but my insides felt like fire.

"I didn't mean it" Deeper.

His nails dug deeper. I had always wondered why he always dug his nails into me, but I couldn't find my voice when his skin was on mine, even if it was hurting.

"So? I should forget everything. You really are a snob" I breathed out, trying to focus as his eyes rested on my lips, and he licked his.

"You're pretty" The only word he said before I felt his warm, thin lips on mine.

I felt my bones lock but at the same time, my skin heat up and immediately the once cold atmosphere felt too hot.

My brain was amiss of what to do next so I just stood there, eyes wide and blinking while feeling his desperation growing as his tongue begged for permission into my mouth.

Slowly, he broke the kiss, but his lips still touched mine, and I felt his hot breath fan across my cheek.

"Don't–" He breathed out, his voice low and hoarse. "You didn't kiss back"

I looked up to him, his eyes scanning my features but his eyebrows were furrowed like he was trying to figure something out.

"Why?" I shook my head, as I stepped back, removing my hand from his hold. "You want to add me to the list of girls you've used? No, get the fuck away from me"

His face formed into a frown as his jaw clenched, and his eyes looked sad for a fleeting second, before everything went…numb.

"I didn't say that, but if that's what you think, it's okay" He shrugged, brushing it off, but his voice was just an octave away from shaking.

I swallowed hard, and rubbed the place his nails once dug into, trying to feel his mark on me.

Without sparing me another glance, he walked off, leaving me alone standing in the middle of the hallway.

"Right? I know, it's so crazy" I heard the different voices arguing and I smiled when I noticed Landon's voice, and his very much influencial laughter.

I walked into the class, and I almost prayed to disappeared when I felt the intense and studious gaze on me. I slowly looked upon and I met the culprit.

Xandon immediately diverted his gaze to Elisa–one of his many girlfriends when we were still in high school.

I watched them as he laughed at something she whispered and I saw him leaning into her, and with just a glance at him, he claimed her lips.

I felt my lungs tighten and my eyes again began to sting. His eyes rested on me, as he depended their kiss.

"You alright?" I turned upon hearing Landon–Xandon's twin, behind me.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm alright" I croaked out as I picked my bag and walked off, going to my car.

I felt a fresh round of tears fall and stain my cheeks, my chest felt constricted and it felt like I was being strangled– choked.

As soon as I was in the bliss of my car, I took out my phone and scrolled to Xandon's contact

My hand hovered above the red colored Block button but I just couldn't find a place in myself to actually hit it.

I bit my lips, as I rested my head on my steering wheel, and let the tears flow. In the middle of my emotional spiral and I heard a ding from my phone.

I sniffed and picked it up, my head immediately went to the scenarios of it being an apology text from Xandon, but I was unapologetically wrong as I saw Jace on my notification bar.

I smirked, as the thought of Jase crossed my mind, and I opened his text.

"Are you at home?"
