Confusion clouded Adrian's expression. "Not together? Why? What happened between you two?" A trace of suspicion crept back into his voice.
Georgea caught the tension in Gideon's expression. She understood immediately. Mentioning Danica now would only complicate matters. With Adrian already misunderstanding Summer as his fiancée, introducing another name could destabilize him further.
"It's a long story," she said. "We'll explain everything gradually. You must be exhausted. Let's get you settled first."
"I'll take him," Gideon said, moving forward. There was a restless urgency in him now. He needed Adrian to see the photograph. He was convinced that once Adrian stepped into his room and saw it, the misunderstanding would finally unravel.
Georgea did not stop him. She remained standing there, her eyes following Gideon pushing the wheelchair down the corridor.
Gideon pushed open the bedroom door. "This used to be your room."
