After a while, the doctor emerged from the room.
Both Summer and Gideon turned toward him at once.
"We have sedated him," the doctor said. "As I warned earlier, he cannot be emotionally stimulated. Any agitation will negatively affect his condition. I must stress this again—do not attempt to force his memories."
"How long is this going to last?" Gideon asked, the strain finally slipping into his voice. "He thinks Summer is his fiancée. How is she supposed to keep pretending to be someone she isn't?"
The doctor cast a sympathetic glance at Summer before meeting Gideon's gaze.
"For now, patience is our only option," he said carefully. "His memories may resurface on their own. You can assist in subtle ways. Exposure to familiar places and familiar people may help him remember his past. Just remember—no pressure."
A spark of hope stirred in Gideon's eyes. "If familiar places can help restore his memory," he said decisively, "I'll take him home."
