"You hit him without any reason," Summer shot back. "Of course, I'll stand up for him."
"I have my reasons," Gideon snarled, his burning gaze fixed on Landon. The memory of Landon confessing his feelings for Summer at the café surged violently through his mind, setting every nerve on edge. "How dare he lay a hand on you in front of me?"
He took a menacing step forward.
"That's enough." Summer immediately stepped between them, spreading her arms protectively. "You will not hurt him again. You have no reason to be angry with him. Do you understand?"
Gideon let out a bitter laugh. He had every reason to be furious with the man who had openly admitted his feelings for Summer. How could he possibly tolerate him staying by her side?
But Landon was clever. Gideon could see it clearly now. Landon was deliberately using the situation to win Summer's sympathy.
