Chapter 123: I Want a Turn Too
Seeing Wesley completely going nuts with it, Chris couldn't hold back any longer.
He grabbed Fox, snatched Stewie from his shoulder, and with a single leap, covered hundreds of yards, entering the textile factory in the blink of an eye.
"Whoa!" Fox clung to Chris in panic.
"Woohoo! This is awesome!" Stewie waved his limbs excitedly.
But the moment they landed, the impact caused Chris's shoulder to jam into his stomach, and a surge of acidic liquid spewed from his mouth.
"Blech, ugh ugh!"
Chris, with a slightly disgusted look, lifted Stewie off his shoulder. Fortunately, the little guy hadn't eaten anything for the past few hours, otherwise it would've been a total disaster.
"You watch him for me."
Handing Stewie to Fox, Chris excitedly approached Wesley, who was still standing there stunned, startled by Chris's insane jump.
"You... how... what..." Wesley looked at Chris, then glanced back at his launch point, too shocked to form a complete sentence.
But Chris didn't care how surprised he was. He grabbed the bolter, turned, and started firing wildly around the textile factory.
Like playing with a bubble gun, Chris's finger never left the trigger.
"Hahaha, this is what I'm talking about, yeah!"
Wesley awkwardly scratched his head at Chris's childish behavior, genuinely not knowing what to say.
He'd just witnessed Chris's superhuman leap and thought the Hulk had stepped out of the screen.
But then Chris turned around and acted like a little kid playing with a bubble gun. The whiplash from this contrast was simply too much.
Not only did Wesley feel this way, but even Fox, who was babysitting Stewie, thought the same.
She'd seen Chris seriously hand Stewie to her, thinking Chris had something important to handle, which was why he rushed off.
But what she ultimately witnessed was Chris acting like a moron, hogging the bolter and playing with it.
Watching Fox's conflicted expression, Stewie snickered, "Heh heh, this is nothing. You haven't seen him at his most brain-dead."
Fox looked down in surprise, finding a look of resigned acceptance on Stewie's face, as if he'd witnessed far worse.
Shaking her head to dismiss such ridiculous thoughts, as a normal assassin from a normal world, Fox truly lacked the imagination to guess what other stupid things Chris had done.
She also didn't want to think too hard about it, because the two of them had gotten pretty intimate over these past two days.
Fox was worried that if she knew too much, it might shatter the slight positive impression she had of Chris.
So adjusting her mood, Fox stopped watching Chris too closely.
But while Fox didn't want to look at Chris, Chris wouldn't leave Fox alone.
"Hey hey, Fox, you wanna try? This feeling is incredible!"
The bolter made by Stewie perfectly executed Chris's design. Its nearly indestructible barrel allowed continuous firing, and the built-in pocket dimension could provide an endless supply of ammo.
And Chris's powerful physique could perfectly absorb the recoil from the bolter, allowing the weapon's full power to be unleashed.
In just moments, the massive textile factory was reduced to rubble.
However, no matter what, this was the Assassin Brotherhood's headquarters, and everyone living here had some skills.
Since Chris hadn't deliberately wiped everyone out, a bunch of people still survived.
Glancing at the panicked assassins, Chris yelled at an annoyed Wesley, "What are you standing around for? Hurry up and finish your mission. It's not like I stole your toy or something."
Wesley looked at the bolter Chris was clutching tightly and really wanted to say that he had in fact stolen his toy.
However, considering the power gap between them, he didn't dare say it, so he simply followed orders and drew the pistol from his waistband.
Since he couldn't fight Chris, he might as well take out his frustration on these small fry.
With the master-apprentice team working together, Chris demolished the buildings while Wesley picked off targets. Before long, no Brotherhood assassins remained alive in sight.
After emptying six magazines, Wesley straight-up ditched his two overheated pistols and grabbed the gun from the nearest dead assassin.
After checking the firearm was functional, Wesley tucked it into his waistband.
There were no living assassins visible, so he didn't need to keep shooting.
However, while Wesley didn't notice, Chris knew that besides the four of them, there was one more living person here.
Aiming the gun at a pile of rubble, Chris shouted, "Come out slowly, or you're dying right there!"
Seeing Chris so on guard, Wesley also quickly drew his pistol, aiming at the same debris pile, and gradually moved closer.
The person hiding in the ruins, realizing he couldn't hide any longer, immediately yelled, "Don't shoot, don't shoot! I'm Cross's inside man, we're on the same team!"
Hearing this familiar name, Wesley looked at Chris, waiting for his call.
Over the past two days, he'd learned his biological father was named Cross, and was also the Brotherhood's deadliest assassin.
But he didn't know anything more about his dad, because Chris hadn't said anything, and neither had Fox.
And Fox, recognizing the familiar voice, exclaimed, "Pekwarsky? When did you team up with Cross?"
As a small, skinny guy wearing a beanie slowly emerged from behind the rubble, Chris lowered his gun.
He remembered now; this person did have a lot of weird actions in the movie.
He paid special attention to Wesley, provided him tons of help, and even Wesley's ability to single-handedly infiltrate the Brotherhood headquarters was thanks to the plan he'd given.
If he hadn't inspired Wesley, Wesley would never have thought of the idea to use peanut butter to catch rats and make bombs.
So Chris quickly accepted this guy's claim of being allied with Cross.
"What he's saying is probably true. We can keep an eye on him for now, and once we find your dad, we'll know if he's legit."
Hearing Chris say this, Pekwarsky submissively held out his hands, letting Wesley tie him up.
He'd originally just wanted to hide and survive this crisis, then break free from the Brotherhood's control and live a normal life.
However, he hadn't expected Chris's awareness to be so sharp, spotting him instantly.
Left with no choice, he decided to take a gamble and see if these people were backup Cross had sent.
And the current outcome looked promising; as long as Cross was found to confirm his identity, he could still get back to a normal life.
So without waiting for Chris to interrogate him further, he spoke up voluntarily, "Cross went to hunt down Sloan. If you're going, I can show you the way."
