Chapter 106: Arriving Late

Paris, Charles de Gaulle Airport.

"Hey there, folks! Need a tour guide? I'm a professional, and I know all the best spots where you can kick back and relax!"

A man with a thick Brooklyn accent stopped Chris and the others who had just gotten off the plane, introducing himself with exaggerated confidence.

Brian looked up at Chris, his eyes seeking confirmation.

Chris sensed the man's emotions, shook his head, and said, "Let's go. This guy's just some two-bit hustler who rips off tourists; he's not into anything as heavy as human trafficking."

With that, Chris carried Stewie out of the airport, leaving the surprised tour guide behind.

The guide had been working this gig long enough to know about those underground operations.

But he wasn't from around here originally, and the local scene made him nervous about getting in too deep, so he stuck to the legitimate tour guide business.

At most, he occasionally dabbled in some gray-market stuff like selling information.

He didn't have the stomach for actual kidnapping.

But from Chris's brief comment just now, he'd picked up on something interesting.

Staring intently at Chris's broad, muscular back, the man quickly pulled out his phone and dialed the number of an information broker he knew.

After several rings, someone finally picked up, and the man launched into a rapid-fire description of what had just happened, his words tumbling over each other in his excitement.

Then he waited quietly for a response to see if he needed to tail them and gather more intel.

What he didn't expect was that a moment after he finished speaking, a cold female voice came through the line.

"A muscular guy carrying a baby, and some kind of intelligent dog creature? Sounds like Chris and his crew have arrived."

It was Megan who answered the phone. Last night, after she'd carved her way through the Human Skin Inn, besides rescuing other innocent victims, she'd also gone through the hotel's transaction records.

Anyone who messes with the Griffin Family lives to regret it—or more accurately, doesn't live long enough to regret it.

As the eldest daughter of the Griffin Family, Megan naturally had to uphold that reputation.

So after a quick power nap, Megan had begun her hunt, following the leads she'd uncovered.

She'd just finished mopping up a small outfit connected to the Human Skin Inn when this call came through.

After hearing the details from the other end, Megan instantly knew they were talking about Chris and his group.

"Who is this? Where's Samban?" The tour guide, speaking English with his thick accent, realized something was wrong and asked nervously.

But before Megan could answer, a large hand grabbed his right hand holding the phone, smoothly took the device, and then squeezed his palm hard.

"Ahhhhh!"

The searing pain instantly dropped the tour guide to his knees, his screams echoing through the terminal—yet strangely, the other people in the airport seemed neither to see nor hear what was happening. No one paid the slightest attention.

"Hey, Megan. Man, flying commercial is still too slow. Looks like you've already handled things?" Chris activated his psychic ability to keep bystanders away and greeted Megan casually.

Lucky for him, this tour guide was impatient and made the call before Chris had gotten far.

Otherwise, if Chris had already grabbed a cab and gotten a few miles away, he wouldn't have heard Megan's voice at all!

Hearing the familiar voice on the other end of the line, along with the anguished wailing, Megan glanced at the bodies around her and said calmly, "Still got a little cleanup left to do. Want to come help?"

Chris was about to shake his head and decline—he wasn't interested in slaughtering ordinary people.

However, Stewie looked at Chris with excited, hopeful eyes, so Chris could only reluctantly say, "Send me the address. Stewie's really into this kind of thing."

Once Megan finished giving him the location, Chris, along with Stewie and Brian, headed to the scene.

As for the tour guide who'd tried to sell their information for cash, he passed away peacefully under Chris's bad luck ability.

According to the airport security's investigation, he'd been killed by waste from an airplane toilet.

What puzzled the medical examiner, though, was why being struck by falling waste would cause his palm to suffer a compound fracture, as if it had been crushed by a steamroller.

However, since the guy was working without proper papers, the examiners didn't dig any deeper.

Plus, since this incident could generate bad press for the airline, the whole case was quickly closed.

When Chris and Megan finally met up, he found four plain-looking women huddled in the hotel room, trembling, while Megan stood nearby radiating an intimidating aura.

If someone walked in without context, they might actually think Megan had kidnapped the other four.

"Oh my God! Patty, are you okay?"

The sharp-eyed Brian immediately spotted Patty's attractive figure, cried out in alarm, and instinctively started forward to comfort her.

However, Megan instantly saw through the dog's intentions, her expression turned icy, and she swung her palm.

Wham!

Brian was instantly sent flying backward, slamming into the corner of the wall.

Looking at Brian, who'd been knocked flat on his back, Patty and the others looked at Megan in confusion, not understanding what their friend was doing.

Fortunately, with Chris—the handsome, powerful guy—present, the women didn't bother worrying about why Brian had set Megan off. They immediately snapped out of their previous gloom and enthusiastically surrounded Chris.

"Oh, Chris, thank you so much for coming to rescue us."

"Chris, I was so scared."

"That place was hell; there were severed body parts everywhere. I can't even imagine what kind of monster could do something like that."

The women swarmed Chris like he was the last lifeboat on the Titanic, constantly seeking comfort and reassurance.

However, the more they talked, the worse Megan's expression became.

It wasn't because these women were throwing themselves at Chris, or because they were ignoring the fact that Megan had saved them.

It was because the hellish scene they'd witnessed after waking up had been entirely Megan's handiwork.

The twisted torture scenes at the Human Skin Inn had happened in separate rooms, so they hadn't actually gone in to see them.

The dismembered limbs and other gory scenes they'd encountered were all Megan's doing.

So when these women said things like that, they were essentially calling Megan a bloodthirsty butcher, a demon from hell—right to her face.

However, considering that their whole ordeal was partly her fault, and that Patty and the others had no idea those bloody scenes were Megan's work, Megan clenched her jaw.

Grinding her teeth, Megan could only angrily shoo away the women, "Get away from my brother, you desperate housewives!"

The women, still clueless about why Megan was pissed, were forcibly herded into the bedroom, and Megan immediately locked them in.

Until Megan cooled down, they were clearly in for a rough time.

Seeing Megan finish dealing with the drama, Chris finally asked, "What else needs handling? What do you need me to do?"

Megan's eyes were ice-cold, and she said with pure hatred in her voice:

"Wipe them all out!"
