Back in Country J, deep inside the dungeon. Emily walked ahead of everyone, her footsteps steady against the cold stone floor. Her face was calm, but the seriousness in her eyes left no room for questions. She did not slow down. She did not look back.
The passage stretched endlessly before them, narrow and suffocating. No torches burned along the walls. No lanterns lit the way.
They were walking blindly yet Emily moved as though the darkness did not exist.
Jayden, who was walking at the back, frowned deeply.
He quickened his pace and moved closer to Moon, lowering his voice.
"Who is this diva walking in front of us?" he muttered. "And how is she managing to keep those two together without them fighting?"
His eyes flickered briefly toward Aldric and Xander.
Moon glanced ahead at Emily's back before shaking his head. "I don't know" he said quietly. "I've never seen her before either."
