I must have lost consciousness after leaving the Red Woods. It was the only explanation for waking here, in his room, with no memory of the journey back.
I blinked, taking in the familiar ceiling.
His room?
I tried to sit up and immediately cradled my forehead at the throbbing headache. I remained still, trying to get myself together when the ache started to subside.
There was a strange stiffness in my body that followed after the ache. I turned to catch the sunlight beaming into the room through the open balcony. It felt odd. Something was strange about the sun and I couldn't place it.
I recalled what happened. The eclipse pulling me. The red woods. Darnel finding me. The Righgs and… my attention immediately shifted to my arm.
The arm that had been ripped completely off was in one piece. I touched it with my left hand, pressing fingers against the flesh to confirm it was real. Warm. Solid. No scars. No sign it had ever been damaged at all.
