The power raged through my body like a wildfire, burning away the last remnants of pain and replacing it with something vast and terrible and utterly consuming.
And I relished in the welcoming sensation.
Every blade of grass in the Red Woods. Every tree root threading through the soil. Every insect crawling across bark. Every drop of blood soaking into the earth.
I felt everything.
But it didn't stop there.
My awareness spread outward like ripples on water, expanding beyond the forest boundaries into territories I had never seen. I felt wolves in distant packs, their hearts beating in rhythms unique to each individual. I sensed cities and towns and settlements scattered across the nation like stars across a vast darkness.
I felt everything, and as seconds passed, the sensation started to feel straining.
Focusing on the whole nation was unnecessary.
I reached inward, grasping the wild torrent of power, and forced it to contract.
