Stephano's POV
Fear for a weird reason had a smell.
It lingered in the great hall after the shouting died - it was very evident and passed through the hall like something that can be seen but it was rather felt. The attacker was still screaming as the guards dragged him away, his boots making several lines into the stone.
"End it!" he shouted. "End it before she brings more blood to the park"!
My wolf wanted his throat. My mind wanted the hand behind his knife.
Aurora stood beside me, pale but unbroken, her calm the only thing keeping the pack from tearing itself apart. Dozens of eyes passed between us - measuring, doubting, waiting for a reaction.
Rowan lifted his hands. "Everyone-"
"Silence," I said.
My voice was not loud. But it was authoritative as expected from an Alpha.
The hall stilled like a forest when a predator enters. Loyal wolves lowered their heads. Others held my gaze too long, very bold, but with fear.
