Although she was certain that she probably came across as somebody who enjoyed the carefree side of life. Haley was actually somebody who preferred logic in certain areas. She liked knowing what direction things were going, instead of just letting them move in whatever way they pleased.
When it came to her marriage with Deacon Roth, as unplanned as it had been in the beginning, Haley was content with it because it had structure. She knew the rules that governed their union. Not only that she was well aware of when exactly their marriage would end. They were going to be Mr and Mrs Roth for one whole year, not a day more, and not a day less.
They had decided to be each other's shields. They protected each other from threats. Whenever there arose something that the other could not handle. The other spouse stood up for them, being sure to defend them whole-heartedly. They took turns taking care of each other, and that fit just right with Haley.
