Deacon Roth, with all of the impure thoughts that he was having about his wife, was in a bind. But even with all that he was going through, he was not too preoccupied to realize that something was not right with Haley Slater.
'Are you alright?' He wanted to ask. But he kept the question to himself. Not because he did not care. But because he felt guilty for wanting to inquire about her well-being when he was also thinking some very naughty things about her. But just because he did not say anything, it did not mean that Deacon did not observe the way that Slater always seemed to be constantly lost in thought.
It was a very weird thing.
Sometimes they would just be talking and then she would just suddenly stare off into the distance, not saying a word. Deacon often tried to afford her some privacy by walking away during such times. But that still did not take away from how odd it was.
