Erin was an archaeologist.
Some people thought that that meant her job involved using a whip, and wearing a hat while stealing treasure. People who thought that were normally the ones who'd heard the term archaeology from movies and had not bothered to learn more. She often did her best not to associate with those kinds of individuals.
Then there was the second group. Those were the people who knew exactly what archaeology was. While the second group of people usually turned out to be all right. There were quite a few of them who had the tendency of thinking that just because she studied things from the past, Erin was focused only on the past. That she had no interest in the present. But that assumption could not have been further from the truth.
Erin was not just interested in the past. She had a very vested interest in things that were currently going on in the world. At that very moment what had her attention was the couple sitting before her.
