[Reader's Viewpoint – Extra in Highschool of the Dead]
[Name: Nach Smith]
[Progress: Act.13 Page 11/32]
Location: Tokonosu City Off-Shore Airport
[Dahlia, Dahlia, Dahlia. This is Sakura. Report your status. Over!]
"Sakura, Sakura. This is Dahlia... Things are about as bad as they can get. Over."
"Instead of sniping, we should be bombing them," Rika murmured while listening to Tajima report their situation to the airport headquarters.
[Roger. Dahlia, abandon your current position and rendezvous with Sakura.]
[Attention everyone. This is a message from airport security. The only place we can ensure your safety is in the vicinity of the terminal building. We will not accommodate those who have been bitten by the undead. Those who choose to disobey these instructions will be fired upon without warning!]
With the commands from airport headquarters, Rika and Tajima retreated from the rooftop of the bridge corridor toward the main terminal building.
The airport should have at least 20,000 people, counting the staff members—another 10,000 if the average number of passengers was included.
Yet no matter how many times headquarters played the evacuation announcement, there were barely 1,000 survivors gathered inside the entire terminal building.
Setting aside their concern for the low number of survivors, the number of security personnel was even lower.
Even if headquarters had enough guns and ammunition to equip a hundred troops, the number of people they had recruited who could properly use a gun wasn't even fifty.
With the threat of more than 29,000 undead swarming outside the terminal building and breaking through the barricades, their squad leader assigned Rika and Tajima to get the jet fuel tanker at the motor pool a kilometer away from the main terminal building, with the plan to reduce the number of undead by burning them.
"Jeez, you said too much and now we're stuck doing this," Tajima said, complaining about their situation rather than to Rika.
"I was only trying to get a grasp of how many in our current state can still fight," Rika replied, laughing at the odds of 1 armed officer against 580 undead.
From the main terminal building, Rika and Tajima drove a minivan toward the motor pool, running over a few undead blocking their path, then turning on the wipers to clean the blood and brain matter splattered on their windshield.
"What is this, some sick comedy show? We're police officers running people over?"Tajima grumbled.
"They're not people anymore."
As soon as they arrived at the motor pool, Rika and Tajima decided their roles with a game of rock, paper, scissors.
"I'll cover you! Can you get the engine started without a key?"
"Back when I was in the traffic division, there was a kid who taught me how!"
While Rika was hotwiring the jet fuel tanker, Tajima shot down all the undead slowly walking toward them—both those already at the station and the horde they had dragged by driving the minivan.
"Got it, we're good!"
At Rika's signal, after taking the driver's seat and locking the door, Tajima ran to ride at the back of the tanker and opened the fuel valve.
"All good! Punch it!!"
"Roger!"
Rika continued to drive the tanker around the terminal building, choosing spots crowded by undead to run them over and spray jet fuel.
"Almost there, you okay?"
"...Yeah, I'm fine."
Tajima's erratic voice gave Rika a bad feeling, reminding her of the message she got from Shizuka a few days ago about looking out for her partner.
"That should be enough. Shut the valve."
When Tajima didn't respond through his communicator, nor followed her instruction, Rika stopped the tanker and stepped out to check on him at the back.
"...I'm still human, aren't I?" Tajima said, greeting Rika for the last time, his left leg bitten by an undead that had come from the top of the tanker.
"...Do you have any last requests?"
"It doesn't look like there's room to have sex here. I don't even have the energy to fondle your tits... But I can use this at least."
Tajima took out a grenade launcher round, then dismantled it to use as a handheld grenade.
"Take my gun at least."
"So you're telling me to run back to the terminal building?" Rika laughed it off, at least to lighten the mood as she listened to Tajima's last words.
"I'm sorry. I'm the only one who gets to be a hero. Just go already, partner."
Rika took off her sunglasses, leaving them beside Tajima, before offering a salute along with her respect and gratitude.
"You are the best partner I could have ever hoped for."
Tajima waited as long as he could endure, giving Rika time to run away from the tanker before he made it explode, until he felt himself slowly turning into an undead.
"I really wanted to feel those boobs of hers—"
BOOOMMMM!!!
---
So a single phone call isn't enough to save him, Nach thought, grieving as he watched Tajima's sacrificial death through the holographic screen of Reader's Viewpoint flashing at the corner of his vision.
He even stopped the microbus he was driving to offer his sympathy as he promised to fulfill Tajima's regrets.
Leave it to me. I'm definitely going to fondle Rika's boobs and do it with her.
"Is something wrong, Nach-sensei?" Saeko asked, voicing everyone's worries as to why Nach suddenly stopped the bus even though they were almost near the Takagi Estate.
"It's nothing, Saeko, everyone. I'm just feeling light-headed from lack of sleep."
Not only had all of them barely slept, but they hadn't eaten anything since they feasted yesterday morning.
Still, they only had to endure a little bit longer.
Nach continued to drive while watching Rika fight her way through the horde of undead after realizing that burning wouldn't immediately kill them and would only cause them to spread the fire as they continued to walk.
Rika had her plot armor as well, so Nach was only slightly worried that something might go wrong with the original plot of her survival.
But with the other armed officers coming out to snipe the undead and assist her, Rika safely made it back to the terminal building.
---
Not an hour later, Nach's group finally made it to the Takagi Estate.
"It's them! Open the blockage!" Saya shouted upon seeing the microbus approaching.
A bit earlier, Nach had called Saya's household, informing them of their arrival. He even discussed a few things about Saki's containment with Saya in case Saki suddenly woke up and returned to her crazed state.
Their discussion also involved the possible existence of half-undead like Saki hiding and blending with the survivors. Nach even informed her about Saeko and Miku possibly becoming half-undead.
On their side, Nach had everyone in their group promise to keep silent about everything that happened in the shopping mall so as not to cause panic at the Takagi Estate. That also included Saeko and Miku hiding their enhanced strength.
Regardless of the possible threat their group might bring to the Takagi Estate, Saya still decided to welcome them on her own.
"Thank you, Saya," Nach said as he stepped out of the bus and patted her on the head since she was the first one to approach and greet him.
"Stop it! Unless you want me to kick you out!"
"Welcome back~ Nach!"
Shizuka then rushed at Nach, embracing him to give him an early reward, giving Saya a chance to free herself from his patting.
"It felt like a month since I last saw you, Shizuka."
"It's not even three days, though."
The next to approach Nach was Kyoko, although her attention wasn't only on Nach but also on those inside the bus.
"A lot happened..." Nach murmured, hinting to Kyoko why he could barely save ten students.
"I know I asked for the impossible, and you did your best, right?"
"Then could I also get an early reward?"
Despite feeling embarrassed, Kyoko embraced Nach as well, beside Shizuka.
So there's at least six of us—or is it seven? Yui and Mitsushima too, counting Nach's possible lovers.
While Nach was enjoying his early rewards, his eyes met Rei's, who was standing beside Hisashi, Hirano, Alice, Mr. Maresato, Imamura, and Inukai, who was carrying her dog Zeke.
He only gave her a thumbs-up and a wink, as if he were greeting everyone—but Rei gasped in relief, realizing that Nach had fulfilled his promise to kill Shido.
On that note, in the original plot of Highschool of the Dead, it was Shido's group that was supposed to arrive at this event.
And just as Nach expected, the instant their group arrived—possibly because they were with Takashi—the next event was triggered.
The nuclear missile that would cause an EMP blast, which would kill all electronics in Japan, exploded high above the sky.
At that instant, something happened that Nach totally didn't expect.
"ARGHHH!!!"
An excruciating pain surged through his head, as if it were being split open.
"Pervert-sensei!"
"Nach-sensei!"
"Nach~sama!"
"Nach!"
"Sensei!"
Everyone's panicked voices calling his name were the last things Nach heard before his vision turned dark and his consciousness blacked out.

Author Note:
Hey—It's UelUel again, your lazy and lousy PoruShark writer.
First of all—DON'T PANIC!—I'm not dropping this fanfic just because of that kind of ending for Volume 1.
Second, the story has basically reached the discontinued part, since the shopping mall arc is already done.
Everything that will happen next is completely just my lazy and lousy plot.
Third, I'm taking this FANFIC AS HOSTAGE!
Search and add my new book to your library—I deleted the last one, by the way—if you all want this fanfic to continue.
Beyond World's End
JOKES ASIDE—or not—this book is my entry for WSA 2026. So I would really appreciate everyone's support.
That's all. Keep reading—Extra in Highschool of the Dead Volume 2
