The sharp, medicinal tang of antiseptic hit my tongue the second I made contact with her bruise. It was bitter and clinical, a jarring contrast to the scent radiating from her skin.
I jerked back instantly, my face twisting in a grimace.
"Oh, Andrea... you are so cute." Alina broke into a fit of laughter, the sound raspy and breathless as she clutched her side. "You're just like that kitten who just discovered lemons."
My hands shot for the medical tray, grabbing a clean swab of cotton and rubbing it over my tongue to get the chemical taste out, all while glaring at her.
Her head swayed left and right as she laughed. Red lips parted to reveal her perfectly aligned teeth.
I was at a crossroads. I didn't know if I wanted to kiss her for being so breathtakingly beautiful in the amber light, or slap her for being so insufferably annoying. Until—
