"It looks like she's waiting for you," Lana muttered from the driver's seat, her voice tight as she stared across the pavement.

Even in simple office clothes, she didn't look like she belonged anywhere near dust or noise. She stood still, eyes fixed on the lifted truck with deliberate focus.
Angelica pulled the hood over her head, dragging the fabric low until her face disappeared in shadow. She pushed the door open and stepped out.
Her feet struck the ground harder than she meant them to. The impact rattled through her teeth.
Her body resisted every movement. Still, she shut the door and forced herself forward, limping toward the sidewalk.
A faint, polished smile touched Alina's lips as Angelica approached. She stood with her arms folded.
