"Death to the Usurper! We claim this city on behalf of the True Heir of the Dargan Family! Slaughter them all!"
The declaration echoed through the dark, shattered hall.
Before the last word even left the leader's mouth, the killing started. These were not common street thugs, that were here to start a brawl.
They were highly trained killers who moved before the guards could even make a move.
At the lower tables, the two Royal Inspectors sitting at a small table were the closest to the attackers. Though they were the file pushers, they were in the service of the king.
One of them, a balding man, drew a hidden dagger from his sleeve. He quickly muttered an inaudible incantation, and a shimmering blue magical barrier formed around him.
And then without any delay, he threw the dagger at the closest man in devil mask. But the man was quick to move and dodge the dagger and counterattack.
The Royal Inspector thought that the barrier would save him, but it didn't.
