"Naruto: Ice God"Chapter 125: Danzo Arrives
The Uchiha matter was temporarily set aside, but regarding how Feng Bai was rescued, Ding Wu hemmed and hawed, seemingly reluctant to let Feng Bai know.
Feng Bai didn't press the issue—he could always ask Obito and the others later.
Watching Ding Wu leave the tent, Feng Bai sat up in bed and rolled his shoulders, preparing to welcome his companions.
However...
The fifty-fifth neck rotation...
The fifty-sixth neck rotation...
Where was everyone?
Where were his friends?
Just moments ago, his companions had been gathered around his bedside visiting him—where had they all gone?
Did they just leave to do their own things once they saw he'd awakened?
Might Guy and his team were understandable, since they belonged to Choza's squad, but what about Feng Bai's own team members?
About to make himself dizzy from all the pointless head-turning, Feng Bai stopped the meaningless motion and began sensing his surroundings.
"I see..."
Through his sensory perception, he understood why no one was coming to visit him anymore.
That Ding Wu had stationed two Root members at the entrance as guards, clearly not intending to let anyone else come in to see him.
"Boring."
Retreating under the covers with nothing to do, Feng Bai decided to seek out Isobu for another chat, especially to ask how he could master its chakra.
"Yo, Isobu."
Arriving at the familiar prison door, Feng Bai greeted the massive creature before him.
Isobu: Zzzzz... Hmm?
Awakened from peaceful sleep, Isobu opened his eyes and looked at Feng Bai with obvious disdain.
That's right—Feng Bai swore he could see the word "disdain" in Isobu's eyes!
"Why are you here again?"
Lazily swishing its tail, Isobu couldn't muster any enthusiasm.
"Come on, don't be so distant. We're going to spend decades together, after all. Isn't chatting with you perfectly normal?"
Feng Bai sat cross-legged before the prison door, not caring that his bottom was sitting in water—after all, this was his own mental space, and he could do whatever he wanted.
"By the way, you healed my wounds, didn't you? Thank you for that."
Seeing Isobu still maintaining that indifferent attitude, Feng Bai searched for topics to try drawing them closer together.
"Wounds?"
Isobu propped up its body with its forearms, a thoughtful expression in its eyes.
It pondered for so long that Feng Bai nearly fell asleep before Isobu finally spoke in a muffled voice:
"Oh, you should thank yourself."
Thank myself? What does that mean?
Feng Bai tilted his head, looking at Isobu with puzzled eyes.
Reading Feng Bai's expression, though Isobu was reluctant to explain, it felt that if it didn't speak up, this little guy would probably take up permanent residence here, and it still wouldn't get any sleep. So with patience, it explained:
"Because your rather unsmooth sealing technique prevented you from utilizing the chakra I condensed, and this uncontrolled chakra rampaged through your body, coincidentally healing your wounds. You should thank that blonde woman from before—without her intervention, the chakra in your body would probably have burst out."
"That terrifying?"
After hearing Isobu's explanation, Feng Bai looked genuinely shaken.
His sealing technique training should have been decent—was the Four Symbols Seal really too profound for him?
Speaking of which, he was pretty mediocre, wasn't he? Flying Thunder God not mastered, sealing techniques not mastered, Ice Release not mastered, the five basic nature transformations not mastered, taijutsu not mastered...
And yet he could survive on the battlefield?
Once this war ended, he'd apply to go somewhere secluded and focus on training...
"Wait, you said the previous seal would prevent me from utilizing your chakra?" Feng Bai suddenly caught a crucial point.
Isobu nodded: "Yes, the technique had many gaps and couldn't properly integrate with your chakra pathways."
"What about after Lady Tsunade reinforced it?"
"It can condense smoothly now."
"So I can utilize your chakra now?"
"You could understand it that way, but you and I haven't achieved the necessary synchronization yet, so the amount you can use isn't large."
Isobu couldn't shake the feeling that this Jinchūriki didn't seem particularly bright.
Swishing its tail, Isobu lay back down: "Once you gradually adapt to my chakra, you can try partial transformation."
"Oh right, let me teach you a technique."
Seeing Feng Bai still showing no intention of leaving, Isobu decided to throw him a technique to study carefully, hoping to secure some peace and quiet.
Forcibly ejected from his mental space by Isobu, Feng Bai in reality suddenly opened his eyes, wearing a helpless smile.
"What a lazy Tailed Beast. Hmm, Coral Palm..."
Muttering the name of the jutsu Isobu had taught him, Feng Bai rubbed his hands together, preparing to find a place to train—completely oblivious to the upright figure standing not far from his side.
"Unfilial son."
The familiar address rang out. Feng Bai's neck moved like it was rusted, turning bit by bit toward the source of the voice.
"Dad..."
Wearing a smile uglier than crying, Feng Bai greeted Danzo.
"Hmph."
Danzo snorted coldly, saying nothing, only fixing his single eye intently on Feng Bai.
Feeling somewhat unnerved by the stare, Feng Bai's emotional intelligence exploded. Not caring that his clothes were askew, he immediately jumped down from the bed, grabbed a stool from nearby, placed it behind Danzo, then wore an ingratiating smile as he invited him to sit.
Though quite satisfied with his son's performance, Danzo showed nothing on his face, maintaining that cold tone: "Utterly foolish—actually being deceived by false information into a trap."
"That just proves I have lots of room for improvement..." Feng Bai replied with a quip, carefully observing Danzo's expression.
"Enough. Tell me everything that happened, completely and thoroughly."
Though he'd already obtained some intelligence from Ding Wu, Danzo preferred hearing the sequence of events from the person involved.
Feng Bai didn't dare slack off, recounting everything in complete detail, including sealing the Tailed Beast within himself and their currently harmonious relationship.
After all, if he didn't explain this matter clearly, he might end up with restricted movement like Sister Kushina.
This was something Feng Bai absolutely couldn't accept.
Hearing that Feng Bai had sealed the Tailed Beast within himself, Danzo didn't scold him for recklessness like Tsunade had, but instead felt gratified by his son's courage.
He had some of his father's spirit.
But naturally, Danzo couldn't praise him directly—after all, this foolish son had fallen for a rather elementary trap. Just from listening to his account, Danzo himself could identify at least three obvious flaws.
His intelligence was truly touching.
