"Excellent, five points to Slytherin." Professor Snape nodded in satisfaction.
He quickly called on Hermione.
"Miss Granger, please tell me where Hoklap juice can be obtained?"
Hermione was somewhat surprised to be called by Professor Snape suddenly, but didn't think much of it, quickly replying: "Hoklap juice is a substance extracted from the Hoklap—it can be used to make healing potions and weed-removal potions."
"What is a Hoklap?" Professor Snape asked again.
"A Hoklap is a pest, it looks like a fleshy pink mushroom covered in black bristles, originally from Scandinavia but now found throughout Northern Europe—it typically likes to stretch its strong tentacles underground in search of worms as food."
Hermione rattled off everything she knew about Hoklap without any pause, speaking like a machine gun.
"Its reproductive ability is strong, and it can cover an average-sized garden completely within a few days. Hoklap is a goblin's favorite food, and Chameleon Giant Snail Venom is one of the few substances capable of killing Hoklaps."
"However, Mr. Scamander mentioned in 'Where to Find Magical Creatures,' 'Hoklap is a goblin's delicacy, and no other use for it has been discovered yet.'"
Professor Snape looked at Hermione expressionlessly, and finally said slowly, "Oh, such a learned young lady. It would be even better if you could remember that this is a Magic Potion Class and not a Magical Creatures class—Gryffindor will be deducted two points for your display of knowledge which has delayed the class."
Ron let out a barely audible sigh, wiping his face with his hand, trying not to show a sympathetic expression.
"Does sighing improve your potion skills, Mr. Little Giant without a clue?" Snape glanced sharply at Ron.
Ron didn't feel sad at all, because Snape had only verbally attacked him once, without deducting points from Gryffindor.
"Weed-removal Potion—" Professor Snape's voice was gentle. "Parkinson just gave us a detailed introduction, so I won't go into any redundant details. You just need to know its basic function."
"Generally, brewing a weed-removal potion takes forty-five to sixty minutes. Next, I'll explain the specific steps."
With that, Professor Snape waved his magic wand, distributing the necessary materials to the students' desks.
"Step one, place four pieces of scorpion fish spine into the mortar and grind."
"Step two, add two standard ingredients into the mortar and grind."
"Step three, put three portions of the ground scorpion fish spine powder into the cauldron."
"Step four, wave your magic wand and patiently wait."
"Step five, add two drops of Hoklap juice into your cauldron."
"Step six, after heating for ten seconds, simultaneously add two drops of Flubber Worm slime."
"Step seven, stir clockwise four times."
"At the end, wave your magic wand to complete this weed-removal potion..."
At this point, Professor Snape glanced around, his oily voice sounded again.
"Well—why aren't you writing these steps down?"
Upon hearing Professor Snape's words, some of the students suddenly understood and started scrambling to record the steps he had just explained.
But some students had already been taking notes all along, like Ron, who had smartly started writing down notes as Professor Snape began speaking.
Professor Snape smirked and turned to look at Harry, who was staring blankly downward.
"Well, well, Mr. Potter." Professor Snape walked over to Harry: "May I assume you have completely memorized the steps I just outlined, which is why you're so confident sitting here idly?"
"Yes, Professor." Harry replied respectfully.
Professor Snape snorted, looking at Harry with eyes clearly saying—Let's see what tricks you can pull next.
Harry raised his head as well, giving Snape a very confident smile.
Magic potion brewing with ancient magic, is neither science nor magic...
Harry idly thought, hoping his dear old professor wouldn't have any heart problems, otherwise... it would be bad if he got frightened.
In potion brewing, ancient magic has an obvious catalytic and accelerating effect—it wasn't discovered by him and Vivi, but explained by Professor Percival Lachham.
And precisely under Professor Lachham's guidance, he and Vivi learned how to shorten potion brewing time.
"Groups of two, start brewing the Weed-removal Potion." Professor Snape looked up at the clock, "You have seventy minutes..."
Upon hearing Professor Snape, the students instantly lowered their heads.
Seventy minutes meant that after deducting the sixty minutes spent brewing potions, they only had ten minutes to handle the ingredients.
It should be said, ten minutes was quite enough time to grind the Lionfish thorn, since Hoklap juice is ready-made, and Flubber Worm slime too, they just need to take two drops of the finished product and add it to the potion.
Harry was still working alone, Ron and Hermione were a team, while Seamus and Neville were together as usual.
