Chapter 257 - Sin of Pride

Overall, Nagato's strength can be considered High-tier among Gold characters.

"Not bad."

Takeshi was very satisfied.

[Recycle the selected character?]

"Recycle."

[Ding! Recycle successful! Your magic power has increased!]

Takeshi casually recycled Kakuzu and the other character cards. The feeling of magic power rising so quickly was exhilarating. Another dozen or so recyclings and his magic power would jump by half a star.

Nowadays, raising half a star was extremely difficult—it required recycling five Gold cards. Yet the power boost was equally massive.

"Keep going."

Having drawn a Gold card, Takeshi's confidence soared and he started his fourth 10x spin.

[Perform a 10x spin?]

"Confirm."

The fourth 10x spin was unlucky—not even a purple.

Takeshi began the fifth 10x spin.

The fifth 10x spin yielded a purple card: Vergo, a member from the Donquixote Family in the world of One Piece, who was sliced in half by Law on Punk Hazard Island.

Takeshi naturally recycled this sort of character on sight.

He then started the sixth 10x spin.

[Perform a 10x spin?]

"Confirm."

"Gold! Gold! Gold!"

Takeshi kept staring at the System's gacha screen, praying for gold.

Soon a golden light flashed.

"It's gold!"

Takeshi's eyes lit up.

Tonight's second gold had finally arrived.

He flipped the Gold character card.

"It's actually him!"

Takeshi was stunned the moment he saw the figure on the card.

A rather ordinary-looking middle-aged man: tawny hair, tawny stubble under his lips, blue eyes, bare-chested, muscles bulging, a golden one-handed axe resting on his shoulder.

"Escanor!"

Despite the plain appearance, Takeshi recognized him at once.

Escanor.

The Sin of Pride from the anime Seven Deadly Sins.

A member of the Seven Deadly Sins, titled the Sin of Pride, the strongest and most popular of them all.

He bears a cross tattoo on his back and is of the human race, wielding the sun-based magic "Sunshine" that alters his physique and personalit in daytime.

At high noon, he is at his strongest.

In the final battle he stood against the Demon King and perished when his life force ran out. After that, Seven Deadly Sins was jokingly called the story of Escanor and his six teammates.

Though a joke, it wasn't far from the truth.

By Takeshi's estimate, Escanor was already formidable by daylight, but for one minute at noon, he was invincible.

Undoubtedly another High-tier Gold character. During that one minute at peak noon, his combat strength neared Top-tier.

"A jackpot!"

Although it had taken sixty spins to get two Gold cards, both were incredible heavy-hitters.

Seeing 24 spins left, Takeshi decided to use them all.

[Perform a 10x spin?]

"Confirm."

Magnolia Town.

Twilight Ogre.

"So, old man, no more chatter. Reurn the money you borrowed, plus the interest in ashes. That's all we ask."

Twilight Ogre's Guild Master Banaboster puffed his cigar, arrogance written across his face.

"Even if you say that, you know we're broke." Makarov said.

Now that he was back, the first order of business was dealing with Twilight Ogre's loan-shark debt—only he still had no money.

Mirajane smiled sweetly. "After looking at your ledger, the cash flow looks pretty suspicious."

Banaboster sprang up like a cat who had its tail stepped on. "What?! You planning to renege?!"

Makarov raised a hand. "No. We'll pay back the principal and the fair interest... someday."

"I want it back right now!"

"Nope. Let's start by recalculating the interest."

"Five of my boys got roughed up by you. This is about my guild's reputation."

Suddenly—

A crate flew over and smacked Banaboster in the face.

Bang!

"Gah!"

He cried out in pain.

"Guild Master!"

The Twilight Ogre members were startled.

"Who was that?!" Banaboster clutched his nose and shouted.

"Me."

Takeshi said, walking over.

Makarov exclaimed, "Brat, what are you doing here?"

"Didn't you need to repay the money? Over the years, my bank deposits have earned a ton of interest. Might as well use it to settle the debt."

Hearing that, Banaboster grabbed the crate and opened it. He saw that it was stuffed with cash, and was about to pocket it.

Makarov slapped a hand down. "No way! Brat, that's your money. The guild can't use your cash to clear the debt."

"Hey, geezer! Don't wanna pay up?!"

Banaboster couldn't care less whose money it was. Once it was in his hands, it was his.

Takeshi waved it off. "It's fine. The guild's in trouble, I can help out. The money can be repaid to me slowly later."

He loved money but wasn't stingy. If the guild needed help, he'd step up.

"Brat..."

Makarov was touched.

Takeshi really was dependable.

"Hand it over!"

Banaboster snatched the money.

"All right, debt repaid. Now you can get lost."

Makarov said, "Hold it."

"Old man, what else do you want?"

"We've paid what we owed you, time to settle what you owe us."

Banaboster's heart skipped—something bad was coming.

"Nonsense! When did we ever owe you?!"

Takeshi looked calmly at the Twilight Ogre crowd. "For seven years, you've damaged our guild property, insulted us, and abused our members. Now you'll repay every last bit."

Makarov stood up, his body slowly enlarging. "For seven years… the pain and tears of my kids… Hey, brat, we settle this with a fight. Any objections?"

"Eeeeeek?!!"

The Twilight Ogre members were terrified.

"Gyaaaaah!!!"
