Chapter 256 - What's With the Akatsuki?

Ding Dong!

The moment the clock struck midnight, Takeshi quickly opened the system interface.

[Perform a 10× spin?]

Takeshi tapped confirm without hesitating for a single moment. After all, time was running out. He had to use the spins within his lucky time, 12:00 AM.

Seven years without Gacha.

His luck must have accumulated during those seven years. With that saved up luck, he would surely get some good cards, right?

"Give me a top-tier Gold."

The familiar gacha scene appeared on the system screen: the Universe split open, galaxies reversed, and ten stars converged in the sky.

One after another, the stars plummeted toward the earth, gaining different colors as they fell.

Soon, all ten stars landed.

"No gold?" Takeshi was speechless.

But he quickly realized that this was normal. The probability of getting a gold card within ten spins was only about ten percent.

Lately he'd been getting gold so often that missing it felt jarring.

"Well, at least there's a purple."

Purple had nearly a fifty-percent chance of appearing within 10 spins. Overall, the odds were pretty good.

He already owned quite a few gold cards, so he didn't expect much from a purple card. Still, purple cards provided a decent bit of EXP. He was mainly curious which purple character he'd gotten his hands on.

The purple card flipped.

"It's him!"

The familiar black cloak with red clouds, deep-blond hair, left eye hidden by bangs, a tiny scope on his face, top-knot pointing skyward, and the ring with the kanji "blue" on his right index finger.

"Deidara!"

Takeshi recognized him at once.

Deidara's debut had been kidnapping Gaara, the Kazekage of Sunagakure.

Catchphrase: "Art is an explosion!"

Though Deidara was a villain, Takeshi rather liked him.

Reckless, crazy, bold, and a bit cruel—a villain with real personality.

[Recycle the selected character?]

"Recycle."

[Ding! Recycle successful. Your magic power has increased.]

After checking, Takeshi recycled the entire batch, Deidara included.

Deidara's overall strength was solid. With the right tactics, he could ambush effectively, but his base stats were too low and his strongest move was self-destruction—powerful enough to rival mid-high gold characters.

But Takeshi had zero interest in suicide tactics.

With six gold cards already, mid and low-tier gold cards were just EXP packs—let alone a purple.

Composing himself, Takeshi started a second 10× spin.

[Perform a 10× spin?]

"Confirm."

In the first 10x spin, he got no gold but with a purple card in hand, at least it wasn't a total loss.

Takeshi stared at the screen like a gambler.

"Gold! Gold! Gold!"

The animation ended—again no gold, only purple.

Twenty spins and still no gold card?

Disappointment welled up in Takeshi's heart.

"System, when did it get so hard to get a gold card? Did you secretly nerf the rates?"

[The odds for getting Gold cards have always been low—there's even a 100-spin pity.]

"Fine, my bad luck."

Takeshi waved a hand.

The card flipped.

Again the black cloak with red clouds, but this time, it was a red-haired teen.

"This is… Sasori?"

Takeshi blinked, then recognized him.

Sasori.

In Naruto Shippuden, he'd partnered with Deidara to capture Shukaku, then, out of mercy, he left an opening and lost to Sakura and Chiyo.

Overall, a slightly tragic figure.

[Recycle the selected character?]

"Recycle."

[Ding! Recycle successful. Your magic power has increased!]

Like Deidara, Sasori's strength was so-so. Too weak to keep.

Takeshi started the third 10x spin.

[Perform a 10x spin?]

"Confirm."

The gacha screen reappeared.

Three consecutive 10× spins reminded Takeshi of his old pay-to-win days, when he'd blown years of birthday cash chasing a favorite character.

One purple, one gold—two brilliant stars fell from the cosmos.

"Gold!" Takeshi jolted with excitement.

Gold at last and a purple on the side.

The purple card flipped first.

Yet again the black cloak with red clouds.

"Tch. Did I poke the Akatsuki nest? Why all Akatsuki members?" Takeshi couldn't help grumbling.

He recognized the figure.

Kakuzu.

The biggest victim of Naruto's Wind Release: Rasenshuriken. His life's greatest feat was failing to kill the First Hokage and escaping alive—an EXP pack with zero hesitation needed.

Takeshi flipped the final card—the one that mattered.

The instant the character appeared, he gasped.

"It's him!"

A pale, red-haired man in a crimson robe, thin of frame. Most striking were his eyes—purple orbs of concentric circles—the apex dojutsu of the Naruto world: Rinnegan.

"Nagato!"

The leader of the Akatsuki, Nagato.

Even now Takeshi remembered Nagato's dazzling debut, unleashing powerful jutsu after jutsu and crushing Jiraiya with ease.

Then he stormed Konoha single-handedly, leaving it defenseless. One Shinra Tensei obliterated the village.

Had it not been for Nine-Tails, Nagato alone could have razed Konoha.

Moreover, he'd earned the nickname "Kage-level quality inspector."

During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kabuto reanimated him. Had Kabuto not been incompetent and the opposition been the perfect Jinchuriki of Eight and Nine-Tails plus Itachi, few could have subdued Nagato.
