Chapter 46 - Chapter 45 - Capital of the Seven Kingdoms

Suddenly, hearing footsteps coming from afar, Cadmus's expression became serious again, especially seeing more and more people arriving. Just over an hour and a half later, about ten thousand people arrived, which was less than he expected.

The city still had about fourteen thousand people, but there were only ten thousand. Four thousand people simply did not come to the castle as he had previously requested. This made him frown, and he thought something had happened to the remaining four thousand.

Cadmus Apparated in front of the crowd, causing fear and exclamations among the people around. After all, anyone would be scared by someone's sudden appearance.

"What happened? Didn't I say everyone should come to the castle? Why are there fewer people than expected?" Cadmus asked in a calm tone, his green eyes focused on the middle-aged man who seemed to be considered the leader of this group.

Faced with the gaze of the man who burned the entire city while riding a huge bird, the middle-aged man swallowed hard and said with a slightly trembling tone. "Our group was divided into two groups; the other group simply refused to accept your orders."

Cadmus's lips curved into a happy smile; he looked at the man and asked with a cheerful tone. "May I ask who is leading this group?"

"The Septon Dendel." Hearing the name, Cadmus's smile grew wider.

"Since they want to be alone, let them be; I hope they don't regret it later." Cadmus said with a laugh. He only burned the Ghouls and Zombies from the streets; it was quite likely that there were still some hidden in houses, wells, or any hole that he did not bother to burn carefully.

As for feeling sorry for these people, sorry, Cadmus was not a saint. He could be a gentle man, but he knew that some people simply did not deserve help. He could imagine that all four thousand people were faithful believers of the Seven and would not join a demon-worshiping heretic like him.

Suddenly, Mitra, who was standing above the Wall, moved her huge head and stared at the people in the place. A trace of pity shone in her blood-red eyes. However, the movement of the huge bird only caused even more fear and terror.

No matter what Mitra had done, it was human nature to feel fear in the face of something they had no control over. Especially something so large.

"Incredible." Nymeria said with a tone full of admiration, seeing the gigantic black bird perched on the castle wall. It was huge; it looked like a monster in every sense of the word.

"It must be amazing to ride and fly in the sky." Tyene also had a look of wonder at the enormous creature. Not just the two of them, Oberyn, Ellaria, Arianne, and Obara were also shocked and full of admiration for the huge bird.

Cadmus did not care about the fear people had of Mitra and spoke, his voice reaching every person present. "Prince Oberyn Martell will be responsible for all of you until the royal army arrives to clean the city of the remaining Ghouls and Zombies."

The mage did not wish to stay in this city any longer; he would arrive in King's Landing today, as he had a lot of work to do, especially finding a suitable location to place his Magic Tower in the Capital of the Seven Kingdoms.

Honestly, no one was against it; although Ghouls and Zombies were scary, Cadmus was even scarier. These people saw him burning an entire city with blue flames; some even called him the Demon of Blue Flames.

Cadmus noticed this and scoffed, but he did not scoff at the people, but at himself. He arrived as quickly as possible and saved this city; what he received in return was fear, horror, and even more caution. As if he were going to kill everyone at any moment.

"I kind of understand Superman right now... People are ungrateful..." Cadmus murmured with a calm and even cold look.

Grabbing the Shadowbinder by the collar of his clothes, Cadmus looked at Oberyn and the others and nodded his head. After that, he simply Apparated, appearing above Mitra. The huge bird opened its magnificent wings and soared towards the sky.

Arianne could not help but feel a pang in her heart seeing that Cadmus looked so lonely at that moment. She wanted to tell him to stay, but the words got stuck in her throat, as the huge bird had already taken off.

Oberyn shook his head and felt a little of Cadmus's helplessness; being at the top was always lonely. Just as a commoner would be apprehensive in front of a noble, the same happened with Cadmus; no one could really be calm in front of him.

He was practically a machine for killing and destroying a city; such power was simply too gigantic for people not to be afraid.

Oberyn put those thoughts aside and looked at his eldest daughter. "Obara, until the royal army arrives, recruit five hundred men and patrol the city; we cannot allow chaos to spread further."

Duskendale could not fall into chaos again; he could imagine that some people would start stealing, killing, and raping. This was human nature, especially after a long period of stress. It was common in war for soldiers to commit all kinds of barbarity after living through hell on the battlefield.

Obara nodded her head and quickly went towards the ten thousand people. Meanwhile, Tyene and Nymeria helped their older sister, choosing the strongest and fittest for the job.

"We also have to get to King's Landing; I want to talk to my sister and help my nephew." Oberyn said, looking at his lover, Ellaria Sand.

"The rumors about the prince are increasingly widespread among the people; everyone knows that the prince is a sword swallower..." Ellaria said in a calm tone. There was no contempt in her voice; it was quite common for women in Dorne to experiment with both sexes. However, this was not common among the other kingdoms.

"There are many people who want Prince Maekar as heir to the throne; this is already getting increasingly insane; maybe we will have a war of succession." Oberyn said with a heavy and solemn tone. He really had a headache about this.

"The king would not change the heir, especially with the civil war getting closer and closer. Balon Greyjoy has already taken the first step, and the others will follow." Ellaria said in a calm tone; her eyes were brighter than ever.

"I hope so." Oberyn did not think things would be that simple. Although the king had not changed the heir, any fool could see that he was more inclined towards Prince Maekar than Prince Aegon.

But Oberyn felt that this was not without reason; he knew that his nephew did not train or even study seriously. How could someone like that be king? Especially at such a delicate moment? A mad king had already led to the near ruin of House Targaryen; a stupid king could really make House Targaryen perish.

So, Oberyn could understand Rhaegar's indecision. Prince Martell decided that he would make Aegon a better prince, train with a sword, and study more deeply to be a good king.

On the other side, Cadmus was flying on Mitra's back with the Shadowbinder still unconscious. Duskendale and King's Landing were close; he only needed to travel for thirty minutes with Mitra. Soon after, a city appeared before him.

It was King's Landing, the Capital of the Seven Kingdoms and the place where Aegon and his two sisters/wives first arrived in Westeros during the Conquest.

The city was large, with an approximate population of half a million people. The Red Keep, built on Aegon's Hill, was the seat of House Targaryen; it was a huge and red castle, just like the colors of House Targaryen.

Mitra's arrival over the city caused exclamations and shocks among the population. Cadmus looked down and felt that he had arrived earlier than expected.

"The King has not yet arrived from Harrenhal..." Cadmus murmured with a helpless look; he finished things in Duskendale faster than expected; the king had not even arrived in the capital.

Looking at the panicked people, Cadmus was speechless and felt a headache. Asking Mitra to shrink and return to her normal size, the mage Apparated, disappearing from the sky and causing widespread confusion in the city.
