Chapter 45 - Chapter 44 - Capital of the Seven Kingdoms

Cadmus transfigured a chair and sat on it; the shadowbinder served as a footrest. He poured himself a cold drink and waited patiently. The drink had a beautiful sky-blue color and seemed to glow under the sunlight.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps was heard, and Cadmus looked forward. He was surprised to see five women and one man. By the man's clothes, he was definitely a noble; the yellow clothes seemed to have gold threads and jewels on his fingers.

The same was true for the woman next to him, wearing a flowing blue silk dress that completely enhanced her voluptuous body. Looking into her eyes, Cadmus felt that the woman was seducing him with her gaze.

Cadmus could not help but notice the coat of arms of the red sun with a spear piercing the sun; from this, he knew who these people were.

While Cadmus looked at them, House Martell also looked at Cadmus.

The entire stereotype they had of mages was subverted when they saw Cadmus. Unlike the deformed and crazy appearance, the twenty-year-old young man before them was beautiful. Black hair like a raven's feathers, a handsome face, and a courteous and gentle smile on his lips. The pair of dark green eyes seemed to carry an air of mystery and knowledge, as beautiful as they were mesmerizing.

"I am Prince Oberyn Martell, my Lord; these are Princess Arianne Martell, the heiress of Sunspear, the others are my lover, Ellaria Sand, and my daughters, Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene Sand." Oberyn looked first at the huge hole in the castle and then at Cadmus with an elegant and courteous look.

Cadmus nodded his head, looked at everyone, stopped for a moment at Arianne, and focused on the intimidating-looking man with narrowed eyes, who strangely resembled a viper.

"Oh, the famous Red Viper? I heard you used poison to win a tournament; is that true?" Cadmus drank the blue Touchdown Punch and asked with a curious tone.

"Rumors, my lord, just nefarious rumors that slander my good name." Oberyn spoke with the most sincere tone he could at that moment, although his features were naturally cunning, which did not help much with his sincere tone.

Cadmus looked at Oberyn somewhat skeptical if he believed his word; the man definitely looked like a villain with an always cynical and cunning expression on his face. However, he asked out of curiosity and was not interested in delving into Oberyn's life.

"Well, I believe your words." Cadmus said with a casual tone and continued speaking. "I presume Lord Oberyn is versed in controlling people; I hope you will take control of the city until the royal army arrives in the city."

Cadmus was not at all interested in administering such a large city; the chaplain, the accountant, the administrator, all were dead or missing. Administering a city alone was a foolish dream that he definitely did not dream of.

"I have some experience, and I will help." Oberyn did not refuse and spoke with a smile. His black eyes fell on Cadmus's footrest, which was a man in dark robes stained with blood. "This man is?"

Cadmus looked at the Shadowbinder, who was still unconscious, and spoke in a calm tone. "The one responsible for all the deaths in this city, a Shadowbinder from Asshai."

Everyone present's eyes widened, especially Oberyn, who looked at the Shadowbinder with a murderous expression. He almost died because of this person; how could he not be angry seeing the culprit?

"Is he still alive?" Oberyn almost growled as he spoke those words. The spear was already in his hand, ready to impale the Shadowbinder alive.

"He has to stay alive, Lord Oberyn; I have to get information about the real mastermind of this attack." Cadmus certainly could not let Oberyn kill the Shadowbinder; if the worm died, from whom would he get the information he wanted?

Oberyn could not help but be confused by Cadmus's words.

"It seems you don't know." Cadmus said in a calm tone. "Balon Greyjoy rebelled a second time; he named himself King of Salt and the Iron Islands. Coincidentally, this kind of tragedy happened in Duskendale."

Oberyn's face showed a shocked expression, but he soon calmed down and understood why the Shadowbinder was still alive. It was really too much of a coincidence that the two things happened so close to each other.

Seeing Oberyn calm down, Cadmus showed a satisfied expression; he liked talking to intelligent people; it saved a lot of breath explaining.

"By the way, Queen Ellia and Queen Lyanna suffered an assassination attempt a few days ago, but both queens are fine, and all the assassins were killed." Remembering that Oberyn was Ellia's brother, Cadmus spoke in a calm tone.

The hand holding the spear tightened so much against the resistant metal that it turned white. There was a deep murderous intent in the eyes of the Red Viper of Dorne. The news that his sister suffered an assassination attempt really made him furious.

"Any clue who the mastermind was?" Oberyn asked with a cold and chilling tone. He was ready to start a war at that moment.

"A mysterious man bought the lives of the two queens in Pentos. As for the other clues, he is a man with an aged voice around forty or fifty years old, smells of lavender, lilac, and rose water." Cadmus replied, taking another sip of his refreshing drink.

Oberyn mentally noted everything and promised to go to Essos to find any clue about the mastermind, and when he found out who it was, he would do everything to make that person's life a living hell.

Looking at Oberyn, Cadmus could guess what the man was thinking; however, he was not very optimistic about it. If Oberyn really goes to investigate in Pentos, the only result will be his death. He had no doubt that Pentos had become a nest of snakes, rats, and birds.

"If I were you, I wouldn't step foot in Essos for a while." Since Ellia was a good queen and a good person, Cadmus spoke, looking at Oberyn. Whether the man heard the implications in his words was not his problem; he had already helped.

Oberyn understood what Cadmus meant; Pentos was probably an extremely dangerous place, especially if he went to investigate things.

Ellaria, seeing her lover with a grim expression, whispered some words in his ear, making Oberyn's expression relax and smile again.

Cadmus looked at this with curiosity and could not help but think that women really had a great influence on men. Even seeing him burn an entire city, his warning did not make Oberyn change his mind, but a few words from Ellaria made Prince Martell change his mind.

Suddenly, feeling his human footrest start to move slightly, Cadmus looked at the Shadowbinder with a smile and, without any hesitation, kicked his head, making the mage faint a second time.

Arianne, who was looking at Cadmus with interest, could not help but laugh at the scene.

"I apologize for my indelicate acts, but this man needs to take a beating for me to be satisfied." Cadmus looked at Arianne with a gentle smile and said with an amused and cheerful tone. Looking at the woman before him, he could not help but think that she was truly beautiful, especially those lips curved in a graceful smile.

"Don't worry, my dear lord." Arianne looked at Cadmus, ran her eyes over his handsome face, and focused on his lips, lips that were completely capturing her attention.

The man before her was something truly deadly and dangerous. If Arianne were an innocent and inexperienced maiden, the moment her eyes fell on him, she would fall in love with him with absolute certainty.

Arianne mentally thanked this man's mother for bringing such a blessing to women into the world, while at the same time cursing how cruel the gods were for making someone so perfect and beautiful.

Even with all her resistance to handsome men, Arianne supposed that if she spent some time with this charming and mysterious mage, her heart would be cruelly taken by him, and she would fall deeply in love with him. Call her futile, but she felt nothing wrong with loving beautiful things.

Cadmus's lips twitched, feeling the increasingly hungry gaze of the woman before him. He felt like a piece of meat in her eyes. It was the first time he had felt such a burning and blatant look of desire.

She simply did not hide anything, especially looking at her face, which was increasingly seductive and elegant.

'Damn, if I sleep with this woman, she's going to devour me! Although in a good way...' Cadmus cursed mentally and looked away.
